Abstract

Language laboratories are considered an effective medium for foreign language learning, facilitating teachers and learners to study more effectively. The modern language laboratories used today represent a new and innovative approach, incorporating various types of media with specific functions. This study aims to analyze the use of language laboratories for Istima' learning, the different tools available in language laboratories, students' perceptions of using language laboratories in Istima' learning, and the challenges or obstacles encountered during the use of language laboratories in Istima' learning. The research was conducted at Darul ‘Ulum Islamic University Lamongan. A qualitative descriptive method was used in this study. Data collection techniques included interviews and questionnaires. The findings of this study indicate that: 1) The tools used in the language laboratory for Istima' learning include earphones, LCD screens, projectors, the internet, Wi-Fi, YouTube, and e-learning platforms; 2) The utilization of language laboratories, media, and learning resources is primarily for delivering content and for evaluation or assignments in Istima' learning; 3) Students' perspectives indicate that the media and learning resources used in the language laboratory positively impact their enthusiasm and engagement in Istima' learning.

Abstract

The absence of students during the evaluation period is due to various factors and reasons such as going to Umrah worship with family, returning home due to illness (skorsing), suspension due to violations, etc. while students must still get learning facilities even though they are not in the school environment. This study aims to determine the Web used as a medium for evaluating maharah kitabah learning at Al Hikmah Boarding School High School Batu. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with the Miles and Huberman model, and the data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. For data validity, researchers use the data source triangulation method. The results showed that the Web used as a medium for evaluating maharah kitabah learning at Al Hikmah Boarding School High School Batu was the "Sekolahku" web as a solution to solve the problem of student absenteeism during the learning evaluation.

Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study is to determine whether visual media influences the improvement of Arabic language skills among participants of the Arabic language camp at the Islamic University of Selangor, Malaysia. Vocabulary mastery is a crucial foundation in Arabic language learning, as it determines one’s ability to understand and communicate effectively. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, where participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group taught using visual media and a control group taught through the lecture method. Data collection was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the independent t-test analysis showed a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the two groups. The experimental group demonstrated a significantly higher average score compared to the control group. The calculated t-value was 6.184, which exceeded the critical t-value of 2.021 at the 0.05 significance level, with a two-tailed significance of 0.001. These results indicate that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted, meaning that the use of visual media positively influences the improvement of Arabic vocabulary. These findings contribute significantly to the development of more effective and engaging Arabic language teaching strategies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of Smart TV as a learning tool for the Arabic language at Insan Amanah Junior High School Malang. The research method used is qualitative, employing a case study approach. In the era of Industry 5.0, it's crucial to integrate technology into the learning process to facilitate interaction between teachers and students. Smart TVs, being modern technological devices, offer various interactive features that can be leveraged to support Arabic language learning. Data for this study was collected through direct observation, interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of documentation related to the use of Smart TV in teaching and learning activities. The study results indicate that using Smart TV can enhance student motivation and participation in learning Arabic. Features such as educational applications, learning videos, and internet access provide convenience in delivering material and enriching learning resources. Additionally, the study found that the success of using Smart TV as a learning tool is greatly influenced by the clarity of the purpose of use, user familiarity with the technology, and clear guidelines for its use. Therefore, Smart TV is an effective and efficient medium for improving the quality of Arabic language learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Writing is one of the most in-demand skills today. Writing skills in Arabic are divided into three parts: calligraphy, imla' and insya'. The research methodology used is an experimental development approach with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, questionnaires and tests. The result of this research and development is that imla' material was developed based on TPACK using the ADDIE model which consists of 1) Analysis: The most basic problem after conducting interviews and observations is the lack of textbooks to teach imla'. 2) Design: The researcher identified the teaching materials of imla' in the book about connecting the letters hijaiyah, tanwin, alif lam syamsiyyah and qamariyah, ta' marbuthah and maftuhah, and hamzah. Development: consists of cover, book data, introduction to the imla' book, guide to using the book, contents, imla' materials, exercises, providing material videos for each chapter through barcodes, providing dictation exercises through barcodes, research resources. 4) Implementation: Held at Muhammadiyah Sidomulyo Kwala Madu Junior High School. 5) Evaluation: through design experts and materials as well as student exam results. The development of this imla' material is different from previous research because it adds and integrates technology in the imla' material.

Abstract

Background: This study highlights the significance of narrative structure in revealing cultural identity and ideology, focusing on Celestial Bodies by Jokha Alharthi, a complex novel yet rarely analyzed through Genette’s narratological lens. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the application of Genette’s narrative theory in revealing the structural and ideological dimensions of Celestial Bodies. Method: This research applied a qualitative descriptive method with a narrative discourse analysis approach. The data source was the full text of the novel Celestial Bodies, which consists of 58 chapters named after different characters. The sample was chosen purposively due to its narrative intricacy. Data collection was conducted through intensive close reading, while the analysis employed Genette’s five narrative categories: order, duration, frequency, mood, and voice. The analytical process involved identifying, classifying, and interpreting the narrative techniques and focalization shifts across chapters. Results and Discussion: The results revealed that the novel makes use of narrative fragmentation, including flashbacks (analepsis), flashforwards (prolepsis), internal focalization, and a dual narration style—heterodiegetic and homodiegetic (through Abdullah). These elements are utilized not only to enrich the plot but also to reflect themes of historical memory, gender conflict, and social transition in Oman. This study helps address a lack of structural analysis in Arabic literature and demonstrates the cross-cultural applicability of Genette’s theory. Conclusions and Implications: In summary, the novel shows how narrative techniques can act as vehicles for deeper ideological expression. This research suggests that future studies should continue applying narratological models to diverse literary traditions to uncover global patterns of storytelling and representation.

Abstract

This research analyzes the news report entitled “ما جهاز البيجر الذي انفجر في عناصر حزب الله؟” published by Al Jazeera Net, using the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach of Teun A. van Dijk model. The purpose of this research is to reveal how the media frames reality, shapes public opinion, and represents ideology and power relations in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a critical discourse analysis method that includes three main dimensions: macrostructure (theme), superstructure (text scheme), and microstructure (lexical, syntactic, and rhetorical aspects). The results show that Al Jazeera actively shapes social reality through language and representation strategies, by framing Hezbollah as the victim and Israel as the actor suspected of carrying out the cyberattack. The use of technical narratives, quotation of international sources, and the selection of diction that builds a conspiratorial impression shows the media's role as an ideological agent. In this context, Al Jazeera not only conveys information, but also reproduces meanings that favor certain groups. This study confirms that the media has a dimension of power in shaping the construction of social reality through discursive practices.   يتناول هذا البحث بالتحليل التقرير الإخباري المعنون "ما جهاز البيجر الذي انفجر في عناصر حزب الله؟" الذي نشره موقع الجزيرة نت، باستخدام منهج تحليل الخطاب النقدي لنموذج تيون أ. فان ديك. يهدف هذا البحث إلى الكشف عن كيفية تأطير وسائل الإعلام للواقع، وتشكيل الرأي العام، وتمثيل الأيديولوجيا وعلاقات القوة في سياق الصراع الإسرائيلي الفلسطيني. ويستخدم هذا البحث منهجًا وصفيًا نوعيًا وصفيًا بمنهج تحليل الخطاب النقدي الذي يتضمن ثلاثة أبعاد رئيسة: البنية الكلية (الموضوع)، والبنية الفوقية (مخطط النص)، والبنية الجزئية (الجوانب المعجمية والنحوية والبلاغية). وأظهرت النتائج أن قناة الجزيرة شكّلت الواقع الاجتماعي بفاعلية من خلال استراتيجيات اللغة والتمثيل، من خلال تأطير حزب الله كضحية وإسرائيل كطرف مشتبه به في تنفيذ الهجوم الإلكتروني. ويُظهر استخدام السرد التقني، والاقتباس من مصادر دولية، واختيار الأسلوب الذي يبني انطباعًا تآمريًا دور الإعلام كعامل أيديولوجي. وفي هذا السياق، لا تكتفي الجزيرة بنقل المعلومات فحسب، بل تعيد إنتاج المعاني التي تصب في صالح جماعات معينة. وتؤكد هذه الدراسة أن للإعلام بعدًا من أبعاد السلطة في تشكيل بناء الواقع الاجتماعي من خلال الممارسات الخطابية.   Penelitian ini menganalisis pemberitaan berjudul "ما جهاز البيجر الذي انفجر في عناصر حزب الله؟" yang diterbitkan oleh Al Jazeera Net, menggunakan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) model Teun A. van Dijk. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap bagaimana media membingkai realitas, membentuk opini publik, dan merepresentasikan ideologi serta relasi kuasa dalam konteks konflik Israel-Palestina. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis wacana kritis yang mencakup tiga dimensi utama: struktur makro (tema), superstruktur (skema teks), dan mikrostruktur (aspek leksikal, sintaksis, dan retoris). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Al Jazeera secara aktif membentuk realitas sosial melalui strategi bahasa dan representasi, dengan membingkai Hezbollah sebagai pihak korban dan Israel sebagai aktor yang diduga melakukan serangan siber. Penggunaan narasi teknis, kutipan sumber internasional, dan pemilihan diksi yang membangun kesan konspiratif menunjukkan peran media sebagai agen ideologis. Dalam konteks ini, Al Jazeera tidak hanya menyampaikan informasi, tetapi juga mereproduksi makna yang berpihak terhadap kelompok tertentu. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa media memiliki dimensi kekuasaan dalam membentuk konstruksi realitas sosial melalui praktik diskursif.

Abstract

Di era digital saat ini, penggunaan teknologi dalam pendidikan menjadi semakin penting. Penggunaan aplikasi dalam pembelajaran dapat menunjang suatu proses pembelajaran. Aplikasi Microsoft Power Point adalah salah satu contohnya Berdasarkan pengamatan peneliti, aplikasi Microsoft Power Point memiliki tampilan visual yang menarik dengan penggunaan animasi, transisi slide, audio, dan video yang dapat meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan aplikasi MS Power Point dapat meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar bahasa Arab. Metode penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data melalui pengelompokan data, pembuatan matriks, identifikasi pola temuan, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Aplikasi Microsoft Power Point terbukti mampu meningkatkan minat mahasiswa. Hasil ini diperoleh dengan membandingkan antara sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan aplikasi dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa aplikasi ini layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran sebagai variasi untuk meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar bahasa Arab.

Abstract

Listening comprehension (maharah istima’) is a foundational skill in Arabic language learning, particularly for beginner-level students in Islamic boarding schools. However, traditional teaching methods that rely heavily on textbooks and lectures often fail to engage students or support the development of effective listening skills. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of animated video-based learning media in enhancing students' listening abilities in Grade 1 of the Intensive Program at TMI Al-Amien Prenduan. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the integration of animated videos significantly improves students’ auditory comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation accuracy, and learning motivation. Contextual visuals paired with clear audio narration help students better understand Arabic conversations and imitate appropriate expressions and intonations. Furthermore, students exhibit increased engagement, confidence, and active participation during learning sessions. These results affirm the pedagogical value of animated videos as an innovative and effective medium for developing listening skills in Arabic, particularly within the unique educational environment of pesantren. The study recommends the broader implementation of digital multimedia in Arabic curricula to support more engaging and effective language acquisition. Abstract

This study aims to improve students' listening and writing skills through the use of audio media in the form of Arabic songs in class 1 of MTsN 1 Kota Bima. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, where each cycle includes planning, implementation, observation, and assessment. The subjects involved in this study were a group of 30 students in class 1. The tools used include observation sheets, istima' tests, and writing assignments. The results of the study indicate that the use of Arabic songs as a learning tool can increase students' enthusiasm for learning and their understanding of vocabulary and grammar in Arabic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Arabic songs and maharah istima' (listening skills), and to examine how effective the use of Arabic songs as a learning tool is in improving the istima' and kitabah skills of class 1 students of MTsN 1 Kota Bima. In addition, this study also aims to measure its impact on the understanding of vocabulary and sentence structure in Arabic. This type of research is a study that examines the relationship between variables using a numerical approach. The subjects studied in this study were students in grade 1 at MTsN 1 Kota Bima.
