Abstract

Indonesia has more than 9,609 plant species which have medicinal properties that is spread across various regions in Indonesia. Ginger is a group of medicinal plants that are therapeutic. Ginger has been cultivated on a large scale with the highest harvested area, total production and demand in Indonesia, including the Province of North Sumatra. The use of ginger as a medicinal plant has been carried out on the scale of the Traditional Medicine Industry (IOT), of which there are 135 IOTs in Indonesia and one of them is in North Sumatra, namely in the city of Medan. This article uses the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) method by identifying articles from various scientific report source databases, Pubmed, Scopus, Science Direct and Elsevier. The selection of articles is taken from the period between 2019-2022, 38 out of 100 articles and reports have been included in the criteria. From the studies that have been conducted, it can be concluded that the existence of IOT supported by tools and technology as well as policies that can protect the standardized herbal medicine agro-industry which will be the driving force for the ginger agro-industry so that it can meet the demand for domestic medicinal materials, increase export share, as well as be able to compete in the global market.

Abstract

This study aims to study the Quality Control Analysis of Crude Palm Oil Quality in the Palm Oil Processing Industry in Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Looking for factors causing quality deviations of Crude Palm Oil and finding solutions to problems causing these quality deviations. The test results using the tools on Statistical Quality Control show that the Free Fatty Acids experience quality deviations. The factors that cause it are humans, methods, machines and raw materials. In addition to the causes of the problem, this study also tries to provide solutions to problems that arise.

Abstract

Chemical insecticides are often used to control palm oil pests due to their effectiveness and rapid effects. However, these insecticides leave residues in palm oil, leading to the presence of harmful chemicals that damage the agricultural environment. This has led to the use of various alternatives, such as mechanical control (trap), which is cost-effective and nature-friendly. Therefore, this study aims to determine the potential of trap with different heights and various amounts of pineapple to control horned beetles in palm oil plant. The study procedures were carried out using a factorial random group design and a factorial scheme with 2 treatment factors and 3 repetitions. The first factor was the height of trap mounted with 3 treatments, namely P1 = 100 cm, P2 = 200 cm, and P3 = 250 cm. Meanwhile, the second factor was N1 = 50 grams per trap, N2 = 100 grams per trap, and N3 = 150 grams per trap. Data obtained were then analyzed using Analysis of Variance. When the results differed, analysis was continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The parameters observed were the number of horn beetles trapped, sex ratio, and the species of horn beetles. The results showed that in height treatment, trap had a significant influence on the number of horn beetles over 3 and 9 days. Meanwhile, in pineapple treatment, weight had no significant effect on the number of horn beetles trapped and sex ratio. The results also showed that the interaction between both treatments had no significant impact.

Abstract

The People's Seed Garden (KBR) is a government program to provide multipurpose forest plant seedlings (MPTS) which are carried out independently by community forest farmer groups in rural areas. The background of the KBR development activity is as an effort to plant on critical land or empty land and unproductive forest land inside and outside forest areas. One of the efforts to restore the condition of the critical River Basin Area (DAS), this effort also provides results in the form of wood, sap, fruit, leaves, flowers, fiber, animal feed, and so on. In order to restore, maintain and improve the function of forests and land and improve community welfare, BPDAS-WU Sei Wampu Ular carries out the Development of the People's Seed Garden with the aim of supporting the greening and nature conservation program to improve welfare through efforts to maintain plants that are productive in a relatively short time.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide understanding and skills to MSME actors about the importance of packaging and packaging design. This activity is carried out by providing counseling, training, and assistance to business partners regarding product packaging. The result of this activity is that all partners understand the importance of packaging as added value and branding for their products, and as many as 50% have succeeded in designing packaging independently. In the future, it will be better to have knowledge and skills related to digital marketing to reach consumers even further.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with the largest mangrove forests in the world. Indonesia also has various types of mangrove plants, one of which is pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris). Pedada fruit is one type of mangrove whose fruit can be eaten. This fruit has good nutritional content and a source of vitamins A, B and C that are needed by the body. In addition, pedada fruit also contains phytochemical compounds that are closely related to antioxidant activity. With natural resources and abundant availability and nutrient content, pedada fruit is recommended to be used as processed food in order to increase food diversification. Pedada fruit has been processed into food processed products such as dodol, syrup, flour, ice cream, hard candy flavor, and jam. This study aims to study the characteristics of pedada fruit and its processed products into jam. Pedada fruit and jam have weak antioxidant activity values where the antioxidant activity is 549.91 ppm and 646.25 ppm, respectively.
