Abstract

Simpai (Presbytis melalophos) are one of protected primate species in Indonesia. This species listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List, indicating a significant risk of extinction in the foreseeable future. This species faces severe threats due to habitat loss from forest area conversion, increasing forest fires, and illegal logging. This study investigates key demographic parameters of the simpai population within Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin Grand Forest Park in Jambi, Sumatra, aiming to provide valuable data for local conservation efforts. The research was conducted from March to April 2022 using purposive sampling method with a total of 4 transects, each measuring 500 m x 20 m. Demographic parameters assessed include population size, density, age structure, and sex ratio. Results indicate an estimated simpai population density ranging from 318 to 1,053 individuals per km², with an average density of 9 individuals per hectare. Age structure analysis shows a predominance of young individuals, with 74 young, 63 adults, and 24 juveniles recorded, while the adult sex ratio is approximately 1:1,36, consisting of 58 males and 79 females

Abstract

AbstractCommunity forests represent a form of community-based forest resource management that significantly contributes to local economic income, ecological conservation, and climate change mitigation. Cidokom Village, Rumpin Sub-district, Bogor Regency, holds great potential for community forest development. However, data on the horizontal stand structure of community forests in this area remains limited. This study aims to analyze the horizontal stand structure, distribution, and abundance of tree species in the community forests of Cidokom Village to support sustainable management planning. The results show that planting patterns in Cidokom Village's community forests vary, combining timber-yielding trees, fruit trees, and seasonal crops. Timber-yielding species preferred by landowners include sengon and jabon. High tree density in smaller diameters is attributed to inadequate planting spacing and natural regeneration. The horizontal stand structure follows a negative exponential model with an inverted-J pattern, indicating normality for uneven-aged forests, typical of community forests in the study area. This research is expected to enhance the ecological and economic contributions of community forests while serving as a reference for management in other areas with similar characteristics.Keywords: Planting spacing, species composition, tree distribution.

Abstract

Permasalahan lingkungan yang semakin kompleks menuntut pening-katan kesadaran dan partisipasi masyarakat, termasuk generasi muda, dalam upaya pelestarian alam. Sekolah sebagai institusi pendidikan formal memiliki peran strategis dalam membentuk karakter peduli lingkungan sejak dini. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kepedulian siswa terhadap isu-isu lingkungan melalui sosialisasi dan aksi konservasi di SMAN 12 Kota Jambi. Sebanyak 29 siswa dari kelas X, XI, dan XII terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. Metode yang digunakan mengacu pada pendekatan experiential learning dan penyuluhan berbasis ekoliterasi. Rang-kaian kegiatan meliputi pre-test, pe-nyampaian materi secara interaktif, pemutaran video edukatif, diskusi, kuis, praktik penanaman pohon, dan post-test. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup isu kerusakan lingkungan, manfaat pohon dan hutan, serta peran satwa dan tumbuhan dalam ekosistem. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan pema-haman siswa terhadap pentingnya pelestarian lingkungan setelah mengikuti kegiatan. Selain peningkatan aspek kognitif, kegiatan ini juga mendorong sikap dan aksi nyata siswa dalam mendukung konservasi lingkungan, seperti penanaman pohon dan pengelolaan taman sekolah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan edukatif-partisipatif yang diterapkan mampu menjadi sarana efektif dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran dan kepedulian lingkungan di kalangan siswa. Penguatan edukasi lingkungan di se-kolah diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah awal menuju pembentukan gene-rasi yang lebih peduli dan bertanggung jawab terhadap keberlanjutan alam.

Abstract

Tangkas Lake, a freshwater swamp in Muaro Jambi and Batanghari, is dominated by Homalium sp., but its overall plant diversity remains undocumented. This study inventories plant species as a baseline for conservation. Plant sampling was conducted using transect and plot methods in two locations, Pulau Tepus and Rawa Liontin, over two months. A total of 37 species from 21 families were recorded, with higher diversity in Pulau Tepus (31 species, dominated by Myrtaceae, Elaeocarpaceae, and Euphorbiaceae) compared to Rawa Liontin (6 species, dominated by Homalium sp.). Species diversity indices were moderate in Pulau Tepus but lower in Rawa Liontin. Species richness was highest in Pulau Tepus for tree (4.6) and seedling (4.5) stages, while pole-stage richness was 3.7. Rawa Liontin had low species richness across all stages, with low evenness in both sites. Environmental factors varied, with Pulau Tepus experiencing wider temperature fluctuations (23–30°C), lower light intensity, and sandy loam soils, while Rawa Liontin had a narrower temperature range (25.5–27.3°C), higher light intensity, and similar soil texture. Soil pH ranged from 4.29 to 6.21. These findings highlight the need for conservation, particularly in Rawa Liontin. Further research is needed to support habitat restoration and long-term monitoring.

Abstract

PT Cipta Lebah Berkah (CLB) melalui merek Rumah Madu Hutan Jambi mengembangkan produksi madu berbasis koloni Apis dorsata di ekosistem gambut Danau Lamo, Muaro Jambi. Seiring meningkatnya minat terhadap wisata edukatif, CLB berpotensi mengembangkan desa edu-ekowisata berkelanjutan yang berfokus pada madu dan konservasi lebah. Namun, tantangan utama meliputi belum adanya perencanaan spasial terpadu, program wisata edukatif yang belum terstruktur, serta keterbatasan media interpretasi. Program pengabdian ini dilaksanakan selama delapan bulan melalui konsultasi dengan manajemen CLB dan observasi di dua lokasi, yaitu area budidaya madu di Danau Lamo dan outlet pemasaran di Kota Jambi. Kegiatan meliputi: (1) penyusunan rencana spasial Desa Wisata Madu; (2) perancangan program edu-wisata tematik bagi pelajar, masyarakat, dan keluarga; (3) pengembangan media interpretasi berupa booklet, leaflet, dan papan informasi; serta (4) penyusunan konsep kampanye sosial-lingkungan bersama LSM untuk mendorong produksi madu berkelanjutan dan kesadaran ekologi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lokasi budidaya potensial untuk pengalaman langsung proses madu, sedangkan outlet cocok untuk edukasi dan promosi. Perencanaan spasial dan media interpretasi memperkuat dasar pengembangan Desa Wisata Madu sebagai model “edu-ekowisata” yang menarik dan berkelanjutan. Kampanye sosial-lingkungan diharapkan meningkatkan identitas lokal, konservasi lebah dan ekosistem gambut, serta kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui usaha madu berkelanjutan.
