Abstract

Purpose. This study aims to examine the implementation of disaster management information systems in improving work productivity at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Palangka Raya City. The research focuses on how integrated organizational structures and the use of supporting technologies contribute to more effective disaster response and coordination. Materials and Methods. A qualitative approach was employed using data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. The study involved key informants from BPBD and utilized triangulation to ensure the validity of findings. Results. The findings indicate that the integrated structure of BPBD, supported by technologies such as the PERISAI application and the 112-emergency call centre service, has significantly improved data management and disaster response coordination. However, challenges remain in the form of limited human resources and low public awareness regarding the disaster information system. These limitations hinder the optimal utilization of the system and its potential benefits in disaster mitigation and response. Conclusions. Continuous staff training and intensive public outreach are needed to enhance understanding and participation in disaster mitigation efforts. The study highlights the importance of developing adaptive disaster information systems, strengthening human resource capacity, and increasing community education as key elements for effective disaster management at the regional government level

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of disaster archival document management and strengthen financial governance within the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) in Palangka Raya City. Orderly, systematic, and accountable archive management is a crucial factor in supporting a rapid, precise, and coordinated disaster response. Furthermore, transparent and efficient financial governance is the foundation for program sustainability and public trust in the organization. This training program is designed to provide MDMC administrators and volunteers with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, procedures, and best practices in disaster archive management and organizational finances. The implementation method includes presentations through interactive lectures combined with group discussions to identify real-world problems and solutions. Participants also have the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice, such as compiling disaster archival documents, managing archive databases, and creating simple financial reports in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards. Furthermore, this training introduces national regulations related to archiving and data protection, ensuring that practices are aligned with statutory provisions. The results of the training demonstrated an increased understanding of the participants regarding the importance of archive management and financial governance, as evidenced by their ability to systematically organize documents and present accountable financial reports. It is hoped that, after the training, participants will be able to consistently apply these principles in MDMC's operational activities. This will create a well-organized documentation system, accountable financial management, and an MDMC institution that is increasingly professional, effective, and responsive to community needs in emergency situations. This activity is a strategic step to strengthen MDMC's role as the vanguard in disaster management at the local and national levels.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of gain- versus loss-framed messaging in shaping public intentions to vaccinate during health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on prospect theory and behavioral communication principles, the research examines how framing influences vaccine uptake and explores demographic and cultural moderators of framing impact. Using a randomized survey experiment, the study found that loss-framed messages increased vaccination intention by 27% compared to gain-framed messages (Cohen’s d = 0.76). The effect was particularly strong among older adults and individuals with high trust in health authorities. Practically, these results suggest that public health campaigns should prioritize loss-framed content in high-risk populations while pairing it with clear guidance on action steps. The findings highlight the ethical need to balance persuasive urgency with empathy and inclusivity. Theoretically, this study advances the application of prospect theory in health communication, while practically, it informs targeted strategies for reducing vaccine hesitancy through culturally attuned and multi channel outreach.

Abstract

This study explores the construction of social realities regarding women in Eka Kurniawan's novel "Cantik Itu Luka" and its translation "Beauty is a Wound" by Annie Tucker, using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach of Sara Mills. The analysis reveals that language choices and translation techniques significantly impact gender representation. Changes in words and nuances in the translation can alter the original intensity and meaning, affecting readers' understanding of social and gender realities. This study emphasizes the importance of maintaining original nuances to convey social critique effectively and how language reconstructs social views on women in a patriarchal context
