Abstract

Pressure injury (PI) is still a problem in health and home care both in developing and developed countries. PI is important to prevent because it has an impact on the physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects of the patient. One of the preventions of pressure injury is to choose the right textile, therefore this literature review aims to identify the right textile and can control microclimate in preventing PI. The Method used by searching the literature of scientific publications in the time of years between 2009-2019 using database Pubmed, Science Direct, Willey Online Library, Cochrane Library dan Google Scholar, there were 2.152 articles. The results of the literature review found six articles that fit the inclusion criteria and related to the use of textiles that can control microclimate in preventing pressure injury including textiles made from synthetic fabrics of silk, polyester, and synthetic fiber. Synthetic fiber textiles are best used as bedding because they control microclimate and reduce friction that can prevent the development of pressure injury.

Abstract

Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is a type of nosocomial infection that mostly occurs in intensive care units, generally occurring 48 hours after intubation. Endotracheal intubation and the use of a mechanical ventilator are invasive measures by patients, having a therapeutic effect. This paper aimed to identify the use of oral hygiene materials for the incidence of pneumonia related to the use of a ventilator. The research design was by searching literature in five databases, namely PubMed, Proquest, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, and Google Scholar, by taking all databases in English and Indonesian, published in the last ten years (2010-2020). There were six articles about the effectiveness of using oral hygiene as risk prevention for Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP) with various concentrations and volumes. Several oral health assessment tools that can be used are Oral Assessment Guide, Beck Oral Assessment Scale, or Mucosal-Plaque Score. Comprehensive implementation of oral hygiene can improve the oral health of patients with mechanical ventilation, so bacterial colonization that causes VAP can be prevented. Therefore, nurses need to understand and apply oral assessment instruments as a basis for giving intervention. Keywords: Intensive care unit, Oral hygiene, Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

Abstract

Knowledge about vaccines and follow-up events after COVID-19 immunization is essential for the public to know. This reduces anxiety due to incorrect reporting. The results of interviews with the Covid-19 Surveillance and Korim (Immunization Coordinator) at Batua Health Center stated that the coverage of the 2nd vaccination was still lacking, there were still residents who were more than six months apart from the first and second vaccines, there were still residents who did not want to vaccinate. 2nd for fear of side effects from vaccines. Healthcare assistants are extensions of health workers who live in the community in the working area of the Health Center. The role of health care assistant. The role of cadres motivates residents to carry out vaccines and find out the reaction of AEFI after the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as report to the nearest health service center if there is an AEFI reaction in its citizens. The service was carried out at Batua Health Center with the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Knowledge of health care assistants has increased after training; this is evidenced by the results of the pre-post test, which shows ability in the excellent category has increased by 30%, while the less type has decreased by 20%. The development of healthcare assistants is significant to advance knowledge in identifying signs and symptoms of follow-up events after COVID-19 immunization and motivating residents to vaccinate to create herd immunity. Therefore, it is hoped that healthcare assistants can report follow-up events after the COVID-19 immunization to the Batua Health Center if residents have symptoms after the COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract

Diabetes is one of the global health issues that can have severe consequences if left unmanaged. One of the long-term effects of untreated diabetes is the occurrence of diabetic foot ulcers that can lead to amputation. One effort to prevent diabetic foot ulcers in diabetic patients is by fulfilling their self-care needs through early detection education of the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. The purpose of this activity is to improve the knowledge of diabetic patients, thereby minimizing the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. The target of this community service is 53 diabetic patients and their families who visit the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at Hasanuddin University Hospital. The community service activities use presentation and Q&A methods, as well as demonstrations of each stage of physical activity training. The result of this activity is an increase in patient knowledge regarding the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers. Before the education, only 3 participants (5.7%) answered correctly, and there was an improvement at the end of the activity, with 12 participants (22.6%) answering correctly. The education on the prevention of the risk of diabetic foot ulcers went very smoothly, and diabetic patients and their families could learn ways to prevent complications, with the hope that they can apply this knowledge to their daily activities.
