Abstract

This study describes several main aspects, including the early period of the development of Islamic historiography and the transformation of Islamic history writing from time to time. This study uses the literature review method and thematic analysis. This analysis technique has three stages: compare, contrast, and criticize. The results of this study indicate that the historiography of the development of classical Islam includes studies of pre-Islamic Arab society, which became the initial foundation for the tradition of writing Islamic history. During this period, historiography was marked by the emergence of various genres, such as maghazi (stories of the Prophet Muhammad's wars), sirah (biography of the Prophet Muhammad), tarikh or akhbar (historical records and news), and nasab (genealogy). Along with the development of the era, this tradition began to be integrated with the methodology of dirayah (content criticism) and riwayah (sanad criticism) in compiling and verifying historical narratives. Geographically, Islamic historiography developed through various schools, such as the Yemeni school, the Medina school, and the Iraqi school, each of which had a different focus and approach to recording historical events. In addition, philosophical thought, kalam science (rational theology), tasawuf (Islamic spirituality), and Fiqh (Islamic law) also enriched the intellectual dynamics of that period, making a major contribution to the development of Islamic science and civilization

Abstract

KH. Ahmad Dahlan, founder of Muhammadiyah in 1912, was a prominent Islamic reformer whose educational vision emphasized the integration of religious and general sciences, moral development, and responsiveness to social change. This study aims to recontextualize his thoughts in the framework of 21st-century Islamic education, which demands critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. Using a qualitative library research method, data were collected from books, journals, websites, and other credible sources. The analysis employed descriptive techniques to interpret Ahmad Dahlan’s educational philosophy. The findings highlight core components of his concept, including the definition, goals, methods, and materials of education, along with the roles of teachers and students. His holistic and progressive approach laid the foundation for competency-based Islamic education that embraces technology and character formation. In the modern context, his ideas remain highly relevant for shaping Islamic education that is inclusive, transformative, and rooted in the spirit of rahmatan lil-‘alamin.

Abstract

Humans are endowed with reason, desire, and intellect. To cultivate humanity and guide human behavior, education serves as an essential reference and framework. Through education, life will be more focused on the goals it achieves. The research aims to comprehensively describe the understanding of humans and its relevance to education as the primary means for humans. This article results from literature (library) and analytical description using existing evidence. The research method used is library research to solve a problem. This research was conducted by reviewing the literature data in depth, both secondary and primary. From the results of this study, the author found that humans will not be separated from the corridor that has been determined by the code of ethics in education based on the Qur'an and As-Sunnah, Ijma and Qiyas, with their respective paths and in the end humans will always obey and obey the commands of the Creator as the God of the universe so that the meaning of Humans and their Relevance to Education is to create people who have good character and have knowledge that is balanced with the development of the era.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of multimodal literacy in a school setting, specifically through an observational study conducted at MAU Jabal Noor Trenggalek. Multimodal literacy, which incorporates text, visuals, audio, and interactive media, is increasingly important in today's digitally connected world. While existing theories emphasize its significance, a gap remains in its practical integration within the classroom. This study aims to investigate how multimodal literacy is applied in teaching descriptive texts and to identify challenges and opportunities for its effective implementation. Employing a qualitative research design with a case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of teaching materials. The findings reveal that while multimodal approaches enhance students' engagement and comprehension, issues such as insufficient teacher training, limited access to technology, and inadequate resource allocation were identified as significant barriers. Based on the results, this study recommends targeted professional development, enhanced infrastructure, and culturally relevant teaching materials to integrate multimodal literacy into classroom practices, emphasizing a balanced approach to pedagogy and technology. These insights contribute to the broader discourse on enhancing literacy education in a digital era.

Abstract

Teacher creativity in using learning strategies significantly influences student engagement and learning outcomes. This study examines the effectiveness of the Index Card Match strategy in improving learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at Sukorambi State Middle School. The problem identified was the dominance of lecture and discussion methods, which led to decreased student enthusiasm and achievement. The research aimed to explore how planning, implementing, and evaluating learning using the Index Card Match strategy could enhance student outcomes. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with purposive sampling, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis included data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technical triangulation. The findings revealed that learning planning involved syllabus preparation, detailed lesson plans, and the use of card-based learning media designed for active student participation. During implementation, the strategy was applied in core learning activities, promoting student engagement through interactive learning. Evaluation focused on assessing cognitive and affective aspects, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the material. The study concludes that the Index Card Match strategy effectively enhances student engagement and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education, addressing the limitations of traditional methods. This strategy provides a more dynamic, student-centered learning experience, making it a valuable approach for educators. Kreativitas guru dalam menggunakan strategi pembelajaran memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap keterlibatan siswa dan hasil belajar. Penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas strategi Index Card Match dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMP Negeri Sukorambi. Masalah yang diidentifikasi adalah dominasi metode ceramah dan diskusi yang menyebabkan penurunan antusiasme dan pencapaian siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi pembelajaran menggunakan strategi Index Card Match dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data meliputi kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, dengan validitas data dijamin melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan pembelajaran melibatkan penyusunan silabus, modul ajar, dan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis kartu yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa. Pada tahap pelaksanaan, strategi diterapkan dalam kegiatan inti pembelajaran, yang mendorong keterlibatan siswa melalui pembelajaran interaktif. Evaluasi difokuskan pada penilaian aspek kognitif dan afektif untuk memastikan pemahaman materi secara komprehensif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi Index Card Match efektif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa pada Pendidikan Agama Islam, mengatasi keterbatasan metode tradisional. Strategi ini memberikan pengalaman belajar yang lebih dinamis dan berpusat pada siswa, sehingga menjadi pendekatan yang berharga bagi pendidik.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Buya Hamka’s perspective on resolving the crisis of adab (ethics) through the Qur’anic concept of hikmah. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study uses thematic content analysis to examine primary sources, particularly Hamka’s Tafsir al-Azhar, essays, and speeches, alongside relevant secondary literature. The analysis is structured through three stages: comparing various interpretations of hikmah and adab across Hamka’s works, contrasting differing emphases in context, and criticizing through a thematic coding framework that includes hikmah, adab, qalb, ‘aql, and iman. This approach enables the study to extract deeper meanings and reveal the interconnectivity of Hamka’s ethical thought. The results show that hikmah is the harmony of interconnected meanings, where the achievement of hikmah is the main goal for those who study it. Hamka proposed several ways to gain hikmah: reading and understanding the Qur'an, thinking deeply, and imitating good behavior. Hamka argues that hikmah can be a solution to overcoming the crisis of adab through strengthening the seven aspects of spiritual intelligence, namely al-ruh, al-qalb, al-nafs, al-aql, faith, worship, and adab. Spiritual intelligence has an important role in maintaining mental health, ultimately contributing to civilized individuals' formation. This study contributes to the field of Islamic thought and Living Qur’an by offering a Qur’anic-rooted philosophical framework of hikmah through the lens of Buya Hamka’s scholarship, promoting an integration between inner ethics (adab) and outer conduct in contemporary Muslim life.

Abstract

Hermeneutics is a classic theme that remains relevant in Islamic scholarly discourse, particularly in the debate over its use in interpreting the Qur'an. There are three main views among Muslim scholars and ulama: those who reject it completely, those who accept it completely, and those who accept it with certain limitations. This debate is rooted in the origins of hermeneutics, a discipline developed by Western scholars to interpret biblical texts that raise issues of authority and authenticity. This study aims to explore the hermeneutic approach from a historical perspective through a literature study and thematic analysis, employing steps of comparison, contrast, and criticism. The results show that, from the perspective of Qur'anic interpretation, hermeneutics is viewed as a Western product originating from the Christian theological tradition and developed within a modern philosophical framework emphasizing the historicity and relativity of textual meaning. Therefore, this approach is not entirely in line with the principles of Islamic interpretation emphasizing the sanctity, absolute authority, and authenticity of divine revelation. Furthermore, hermeneutics is also considered contrary to the methodology of Ulumul Qur'an, which has clear procedures and hierarchies of interpretation based on Islamic sources. This study confirms the relevance of historical criticism of Qur'anic hermeneutics as a scholarly effort to restore Qur'anic interpretation to an authentic Islamic epistemological framework. Thus, this study makes a new contribution to strengthening the methodology of interpretation based on the principles of the sacredness of revelation, the integrity of divine meaning, and the scientific discipline of Ulumul Qur'an, originating from the Islamic tradition itself.

Abstract

To improve the quality of educational institutions, an effective strategy is needed so that the quality can improve significantly, which will ultimately strengthen the existence of the institution. One strategy that has proven effective is through educational marketing which aims to create high quality educational input, output and results. Jabal Noor Superior MA is one of the madrasas that has succeeded in implementing this marketing strategy well to improve the quality of its education. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative field research-based, namely a type of research that tries to describe the research madrasah-based education marketing strategy that has been carried out by MA Unggulan Jabal Noor in improving the quality of education as it is. The research results show that the research madrasa program is one of the superior initiatives of the Jabal Noor Superior Academy. This program aims to hone students' mindset and interest in conducting scientific research in order to produce new works and innovations that are beneficial to society and the development of science. Through this madrasa research program, MA Unggulan Jabal Noor succeeded in improving the quality of its madrasas by recording the achievements of the students. Apart from that, the research madrasa program is also an effective strategy in attracting the interest of prospective parents, which will ultimately increase the number of students significantly. ABSTRAKUntuk meningkatkan mutu lembaga pendidikan, diperlukan strategi yang efektif agar kualitasnya dapat meningkat secara nyata, yang pada akhirnya akan memperkuat eksistensi lembaga tersebut. Salah satu strategi yang terbukti efektif adalah melalui pemasaran pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan input, output, dan hasil pendidikan yang berkualitas tinggi. MA Unggulan Jabal Noor adalah salah satu madrasah yang telah berhasil menerapkan strategi pemasaran ini dengan baik untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikannya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif berbasis field research, yaitu jenis penelitian yang mencoba mendeskripsikan strategi pemasaran pendidikan berbasis madrasah riset yang telah dilakukan oleh MA Unggulan Jabal Noor dalam peningkatan mutu pendidikan secara apa adanya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program madrasah riset merupakan salah satu inisiatif unggulan dari MA Unggulan Jabal Noor. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengasah pola pikir dan minat siswa dalam melakukan penelitian ilmiah guna menghasilkan karya dan inovasi baru yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat dan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Dengan melalui program madrasah riset ini, MA Unggulan Jabal Noor berhasil meningkatkan mutu madrasahnya dengan mencatat prestasi dari para siswa. Di samping itu, program madrasah riset juga menjadi salah satu strategi efektif dalam menarik minat calon wali murid, yang pada akhirnya akan meningkatkan jumlah siswa secara signifikan.
