Abstract

Abstract

One component of learning that needs serious attention is learning evaluation. This component must be implemented to determine the effectiveness of a learning system implemented by the teacher, especially to determine the achievement of learning objectives. When viewed from the context of education for children with special needs, especially in vocational-based learning, learning evaluation has great functions and benefits because the results of these activities will obtain updated student profiles related to their actual competence in certain skills. This research was conducted to dig up an overview regarding how to plan, implement, support factors, and inhibiting factors of sewing vocational learning evaluation activities for class XI mild mental retardation students at Pancaran Iman SLB and Terate Foundation C Special School, Bandung City. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that learning evaluation activities for mild mental retardation are carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, data checking, and reporting. The main supporting factors in learning evaluation activities are the availability of positive resources, infrastructure, and parental support. Meanwhile, the teacher's lack of knowledge of student profiles and not yet optimal management of problematic behavior in students with mild mental retardation are the main inhibiting factors found in this study.

Abstract

Deaf people have learning characteristics that rely more on visual aspects. This research aimed to produce learning media in the form of digital module that could accommodate the needs and learning characteristics of deaf students in the course of thesis guidance theory course. This research belonged to the type of development by applying the ADDIE procedure. The results showed that the digital module scored 85.28% in the aspect of the validity test by learning media experts and deafness experts. While in the test practicality by students, the digital module received a score of 85.63%. These two scores indicated that both digital modules were at a very high level of validity and practicality. Subsequently, they were worthy of being a learning media option that could be used for deaf students.

Abstract

Teaching materials that are prepared based on the actual conditions of students are one aspect that needs to be underlined so that students can actively participate in learning. This research took place at SLB ABC YPLAB Lembang, West Bandung Regency, and aims to produce teaching materials that are student center for students with intellectual disabilities in early grades. The focus of this research is on the adjustment stage between student profiles and curriculum content, where the link & match process between student assessment results and the curriculum becomes the basis for the instructional design process. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. There are four stages carried out, encompass initial assessment of basic abilities, reviewing curriculum content, matching student profiles with the curriculum, curriculum modification, and preparation of teaching materials. The results of this study are teaching materials that are student center to accommodate the conditions, potential, and learning characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

The study focuses on understanding the challenges, capabilities, and requirements of students with mild intellectual disabilities in marketing skills related to vegetable gardening. It aims to create a suitable learning assessment tool for these students. The researcher observed that teachers lacked a specific assessment instrument for evaluating the marketing of garden products. Consequently, a teacher improvised a self-made assessment. The research methodology employed a descriptive approach within a qualitative framework. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, documentation analysis, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and validation. Validation involved multiple stakeholders: a class teacher, a vice head of curriculum, a vocational teacher, and two students with mild intellectual disabilities. The assessment instrument, tailored for mild intellectual disability students, focused on three main aspects: self-development, language and mathematics abilities, and marketing theories. Two validators validated this instrument. The study anticipates several implications: students may enhance their skills and insights, teachers can improve teaching quality, school principals can better address learning needs, and parents gain insights into their children's interests and talents. The research addresses the dearth of appropriate assessment tools for marketing gardening products to students with mild intellectual disability. Its findings are poised to benefit various stakeholders, including students, teachers, school administrators, and parents, by fostering skill development, enhancing teaching quality, and facilitating a better understanding of students' needs and abilities.

Abstract

Ecoprint is a technique for dyeing fabric and/or batik using natural materials. Ecoprint techniques are introduced to elementary school students because at that age children can train their motor skills independently and are able to think creatively. The purpose of the ecoprint introduction activity is to provide knowledge about ecoprint and skills for students in utilizing natural materials or plants around the school. The methods used are lectures, demonstrations, practices and evaluations. Evaluation uses direct direction and direct observation of Ecoprint products that have been made by students. Students have been able to print motifs and colors from leaves and flowers on fabrics producing Ecoprint products according to their respective creativity, even the results of this Ecoprint can be displayed or sold.

Abstract

Children with mild intellectual disabilities experience limitations in their cognitive abilities, which can impact their academic performance, particularly in subjects such as mathematics. To facilitate comprehension for these children, it is essential to use concrete and engaging learning media. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of such media in aiding children with disabilities in learning mathematics. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The findings reveal that some children with mild intellectual disabilities are able to recognize geometric shapes with teacher guidance, although others continue to face challenges. The study concludes with the development of validated mathematics learning media designed to help Grade VII students with mild intellectual disabilities recognize geometric shapes using Geoboard media. The study recommends that schools provide educational props or support media to enhance mathematics instruction related to data structures. It is also suggested that teachers and parents integrate these media into every lesson for practical application, with the goal of continuous improvement in the accessibility and effectiveness of learning media for children with mild intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an inclusive learning model and media based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for blind and deaf-mute students in the Special Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Islam Nusantara. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and follows the ADDIE development model. Data were collected through needs assessment, interviews, and observation. The results show that blind students require auditory-based media compatible with assistive technologies, while deaf-mute students require media emphasizing visuals and text. The developed products include accessible digital modules and captioned videos usable by all students. The study concludes that a UDL-based learning design effectively accommodates the diverse needs of students in an equitable and inclusive manner.
