Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model and quality control strategies on consumer perceptions of Ariyanto's Cow Skin Crackers products in Sukabumi City. The approach used includes analysis of the IPO model, quality control tools (Seven Tools) Check Sheet, Stratification and Pareto Diagram, and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). Data were obtained through interviews, observations and questionnaires to 50 active consumer respondents. The results show that the production process still faces obstacles in the aspects of product filling and packaging, which is evident from the highest defect findings in the form of insufficient contents and leaky packaging. IPA analysis places these two attributes in Quadrant I (top priority for improvement). Meanwhile, the attributes of texture, safety and cleanliness of packaging show high performance and importance, which means they need to be maintained. The conclusion of this study is that quality improvement strategies need to focus on controlling filling and packaging to improve competitiveness and consumer satisfaction in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Japan’s aging society, driven by declining birth rates, urbanization, and sociocultural factors, has necessitated increased labor migration from countries such as Indonesia, which now accounts for over 149,000 residents (2023) and 430,000 annual tourists (2023). This demographic shift has amplified the demand for halal products among Indonesia’s Muslim majority, yet Japan lacks formal halal regulations, relying instead on third-party certifications such as the Japan Halal Association (est. 2010). To address this gap, the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo and Keluarga Masyarakat Islam Indonesia or Indonesian Muslims Association (KMII) Japan initiated the establishment of a community-based halal certification institution for Indonesian Muslims in Japan to address this gap. This study aimed to determine the establishment of the Halal International Trust Organization (HITO) in Japan. The methodology of this study was descriptive qualitative. The data collection process was conducted through interviews to obtain data and observations. This study was conducted in Tokyo. The informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The informants involved in the study were the management of KMII, HITO, and officials at KBRI Tokyo. HITO operates under KMII Japan Ippan Shadan Hojin (a legally recognized non-profit). HITO’s five functions include setting locally adapted halal standards, auditing products, training auditors, and fostering socioeconomic integration. Its organizational structure features a supervisory board, advisory council, and daily management team supported by 31 trained assistants across nine prefectures. The certification process involves online submissions, facilitator validation, approval of ‘fatwa’ council, and digital certificate issuance, prioritizing affordability for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Abstract

Twinmilk, a business unit of the Gemah Ripah cooperative in Sukabumi, produces milk candy from milk supplied by its farmer members. Despite its potential, Twinmilk's sales have stagnated, particularly for its milk candy. To address this, the company conducted a consumer behavior analysis. The study aimed to analyze the decision-making process in purchasing, the factors influencing purchasing decisions, and consumer attitudes towards the attributes of Twinmilk’s milk candy. The methods used included descriptive analysis, analysis of factors influencing purchasing decisions, and consumer attitude analysis using the Fishbein multi-attribute model. The analysis revealed five key factors influencing purchasing decisions: psychographics (culture, social class, income), demographics (age, gender, lifestyle), knowledge (motivation, awareness), information sources (family, friends, promotions), and behavior (experience, attitude). The consumer attitude score of 133.64 indicates that Twinmilk’s milk candy is well-regarded, with taste being the most valued attribute. However, improvements in accessibility and promotion are essential priorities for growth.

Abstract

Product quality is a vital aspect in the sustainability of livestock businesses. However, CV Slamet Quail Farm is currently facing a challenge in the form of a high percentage of defective eggs, which has the potential to reduce profitability. This study aims to analyze quality control of quail eggs in cage 1B (Cikembar, Sukabumi Regency) by identifying the dominant types of defects and their root causes. Production data from October 2025 were analyzed using check sheets, histograms, Pareto diagrams, and fishbone diagrams. The results show that the most dominant defects are cracked eggs and soft shells, contributing to approximately 80% of the total damage. The cause-and-effect analysis reveals key priority factors, namely insufficient employee accuracy in following harvesting SOPs and fluctuations in cage environmental conditions that trigger stress in the birds. These findings highlight the need for improvements through stricter enforcement of worker discipline, evaluation of feed quality, and enhanced control of production facilities and environmental conditions. The implementation of these improvements is expected to reduce defect rates and maintain production quality stability

Abstract

This study examines quality control in chrysanthemum cultivation at Krisan Astritani (Sukabumi) using an Input Process Output (IPO) framework and statistical process control tools (checksheet, Pareto diagram, Fishbone). Quality control is critical because visual consistency (color, flower form, stem strength) directly determines market grade and price; uncontrolled defects increase waste and reduce competitiveness. The research aims to identify main defect types, their frequency, and root causes, and to indicate where corrective effort yields the largest quality improvement. Methods: daily checksheets to record defect types/counts, Pareto analysis to prioritise problems, and Fishbone analysis to trace root causes; these are interpreted through the IPO model. Results: checksheets (n=40 events) revealed dominant defects; Pareto showed three main contributors pest attack (35%), non-sterile growing media (25%), and improper fertilization (20%) which together explain ~80% of defects. Fishbone analysis linked these to material (media, seed quality), method (fertilization & sortation), and human factors (training). IPO summary: Input (media & seed quality) and Process (pest control & fertilization precision) are the priority areas for improvement, with Input as the foundational concern because upstream faults propagate downstream. Implications: focus corrective actions on media sterilization, integrated pest management, SOP-based fertilization, and routine checksheet monitoring to achieve the largest, fastest gains in product grade and waste reduction.
