Abstract

Abstract

Shallot farming on marginal land with an ultra-small scale (0.1 ha) faces different efficiency and profitability challenges compared to larger-scale farming. This study aims to analyze the cost structure, income, financial feasibility, and break-even point of ultra-small-scale shallot farming in Air Duku Village, Rejang Lebong Regency. Using a quantitative descriptive method with a case study approach, this research involved 12 farmers selected through purposive sampling based on the criteria of actively cultivating shallots for at least two growing seasons on 0.02-0.08 ha of land. Data were collected through structured interviews and analyzed using income analysis, R/C ratio, and Break-Even Point (BEP) analysis. The results showed that the average production cost was IDR 4,479,187.48 per growing season, with a net income of IDR 5,920,812.52. An R/C ratio of 1.32 indicates that this farming practice is financially feasible and profitable. The production break-even point was achieved at 172.28 kg, far below the actual production (400 kg). Similarly, the sales break-even point (IDR 4,479,187.48) was below the actual revenue (IDR 10,400,000). These findings confirm that ultra-small-scale shallot farming still has promising economic prospects and a low risk of loss, although there is room for improvement in input use efficiency, particularly in terms of seed and labor utilization. The policy implication of this research is the need for technical assistance to optimize the productivity of smallholdings and improve farmer access to more efficient production inputs

Abstract

The matoa nursery business has strong potential in tropical fruit agribusiness development; however, its sustainability depends on cost efficiency and financial viability. This study aimed to determine whether this business is financially feasible and economically viable. The method applied is a case study approach with descriptive quantitative analysis, using data on production costs, revenue, and profit per production cycle. The results showed a total production cost of IDR 75,016,083.33 with revenue of IDR 240,000,000, resulting in a profit of IDR 164,983,916.67 per production period. The R/C ratio was 3.20 and the B/C ratio was 2.20, indicating high cost efficiency and profitability. The break-even point for production is 3,750.80 seedlings and IDR 75,016,083.33 in sales. This is far below the realization of sales of 12,000 seedlings or IDR 240 million, indicating a large safety margin. Thus, the matoa nursery business at CV Kebun Sari is declared feasible and has the potential to be developed comprehensively.

Abstract

People with limited land or in urban areas can use the land for plant farming using hydroponics. Hydroponics is farming using water enriched with plant nutrients as a growth media. This system has been popular due to its efficiency in using water, land, time, and space. It also allows plant growth quickly and under controlled conditions. One of the vegetables that has the potential to be cultivated with a hydroponic system is lettuce (Lactuca sativa L). The nutrients in vegetables, especially vitamins and minerals, cannot be substituted by staple foods so that they can suffice the need for vegetables for the community. This study analyzes the return on investment and profit in hydroponic lettuce farming. The research method is a case study, and the data analysis technique used is investment costs, variable costs, income production, Return on Investment (ROI), and Payback Period (PP). The results showed that the hydroponic farming Deep Flow technique (DFT) method incurred costs of Rp54.730.590,48 and income of Rp9.266.566,52, and the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) method incurred costs of Rp59.655.572,78 and received income of Rp6.769.306,45. The DFT technique has a Return On Investment (ROI) value of 16.9%, the NFT technique is 10.9%, and the DFT technique has a Payback Period (PP) of 5.89, while the NFT is 9.13.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of marketing strategies on consumer decisions in purchasing octopus cracker products produced by Kuritos Home Business in Linau Village, Kaur Regency. Methodology: The method used is a quantitative approach with a nonprobability sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: The results show that the variables price (t = 7.106), place (2.455), promotion (3.918), process (4.386), and physical evidence (2.492) have a significant effect on purchasing decisions. Meanwhile, the product (-0.269) and people/employees (-0.189) variables do not show a significant effect. The calculated F value of 59.906 and R² of 0.806 indicate a high predictive power of the model. Findings: The main findings indicate that of the seven marketing mix elements, five have a significant effect, with price as the most dominant factor. This study presents novelty by highlighting local products based on marine products in the context of marketing in household businesses in coastal areas. Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is a horticultural commodity with high market demand, yet its productivity at the farmer level remains variable. This study aimed to assess sweet corn productivity and analyse factors associated with yield and farmer economic welfare in Curup Selatan District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. The study was conducted in March 2026, using purposive sampling, with 42 sweet corn farmers. Primary data were collected through structured interviews and analysed using validity and reliability tests, followed by Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling(PLS-SEM). The results showed that the average sweet corn yield was 8.21 tons ha⁻¹. Farmers perceived seed quality and soil condition as the main factors associated with sweet corn productivity. The PLS-SEM model explained 68.5% of the variation in yield and 84.7% of the variation in farmers' economic welfare. Yield had a positive and significant effect on farmer economic welfare, while landholding characteristics and cultivation techniques had positive and significant effects on sweet corn yield. Farming constraints and planting period did not significantly affect yield. These findings indicate that improving seed quality, soil management, and cultivation practices should be prioritised to enhance sweet corn productivity and farmer economic welfare.
