Abstract

The current study aimed to compare between using subtitle video and picture series in teaching and learning process towards health students? reading comprehension. The research was carried out in 2018-2019 academic year in University of Adiwangsa Jambi, Indonesia. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. One class was selected as sample from first year of nursing program. Totally 36 students were divided into two groups (one experimental group and one control group). Then, a pre-test of reading comprehension was administered to assess the students? reading comprehension. The students of experimental group used video files to improve their reading comprehension while the control group using picture of teaching reading comprehension. In the end of the meeting, all the students were assigned multiple-choice reading comprehension post-test and fulfilled some questionnaires to measure their reading motivation. In order to test the significance between the groups, the independent samples t -test was used. The results of the research showed a significant difference between the students who were learned by using video that was more successful than the students who were learned by using picture. Based on the findings, it indicated that video materials had significant effect on promoting health students? reading comprehension.

Abstract

The main focus of the study was to know whether Time Token Technique effective or not to enhance English speaking achievement of second year nursing students of University of Adiwangsa Jambi. The study was mix research in which combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches were used in this research. 33 nursing students of second year were selected be samples through total sampling procedure. The data was collected through pre-test and post-test, video shooting, and field note. The main findings of the study were: the value of t-test is bigger than t-table and there is raising students’ speaking achievement percentage that involves pronunciation, grammar, fluency and vocabulary from pre-test to post-test. Moreover, this technique can help inactive student to be more active to speak English every day, increase self-confident, vocabulary and improve pronunciation and grammar.

Abstract

This study discusses English And Korean Interrogative Sentences. It is aimed at describing the forms and types of English and Korean Interrogative Sentences and finding out the similarities and the differences between English and Korean Interrogative Sentences. This research belongs to descriptive and comparative type. The research object in this study is English and Korean Interrogative Sentences. And the data form in this study is the sentences. The researcher took the sources of data from English and Korean grammar books, English and Korean magazines, English and Korean newspapers, English students books for high school published by Erlangga, and Korean course students books. The techniques for collecting data used noting technique, separating technique, and transferring technique. The data analyzing techniques used three technique; they are description, interpretation and analysis. The result of this research showed that the types of English interrogative sentences are ‘Ye/No Question, WH-Question, Subject Question, and Tag Question’. The types of Korean interrogative sentences are ‘Yes/No interrogative, Alternative interrogative, WH-interrogative, and Tag Question’. The forms of English interrogative sentences are ‘Yes/No Questions with Auxiliary Be, Auxiliary Do/Does/Did, Auxiliary Have/Has/Had, Modal Auxiliary, WH-Questions with Auxiliary Be, Auxiliary Do/Does/Did, Auxiliary Have/Has/Had, Modal Auxiliary, Subject Questions with Auxiliary Be, Auxiliary Do/Does/Did, Auxiliary Have/Has/Had, Modal Auxiliary, Tag Questions with Auxiliary Be, Auxiliary Do/Does/Did, Auxiliary Have/Has/Had, Modal Auxiliary.’ The forms of Korean interrogative sentences are ‘Yes/No Interrogatives with Final Ending, Interrogative with Final Ending, Interrogative with Final Ending

Abstract

Some problems are found in improving students’ speaking skill. Most of pharmacy students were unableto develop their ideas verbally. This research belongs to quasi experimental research with factorial 2x2.This study aims to find out the effect of Think Pair Share Strategy and students’ motivation toward theirspeaking skill of procedure text. This research was conducted in University of Adiwangsa Jambi.Pharmacy students are taken as the sample. Speaking test and questioners are used to collect the data. Inorder to test the significance between the groups, the independent samples t-test was used. The results ofthe research showed a significant difference between the students who were learned by applying ThinkPair Share strategy that was more successful and had higher motivation level. Based on the findings, itindicated that this strategy had significant effect on improving speaking skill and motivation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa berdominasi otak kanan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika materi sistem persamaan linier dua variabel (SPLDV). Kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang penting dikuasai oleh siswa. Adapun indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalahꓽ 1) memahami masalah; 2) membuat rencana pemecahan masalah; 3) melaksanakan rencana pemecahan masalah; 4) memeriksa kembali hasil pemecahan masalah yang didapat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa berdominasi otak kanan di kelas VIII SMPN 1 Betara Tanjung Jabung Barat. Instrumen yang yang digunakan adalah lembar tes inventori, lembar tes soal matematika materi sistem persamaan linier dua variabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa berdominasi otak kanan masih belum memenuhi indikator keempat dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah yaitu kemampuan memeriksa kembali hasil pemecahan masalah.
