Abstract

This study explores the design process of instructional media using Google Earth to support senior high school Geography learning on Hydrosphere Dynamics. The media was developed through a location-based approach that integrates satellite imagery, placemarks, interactive maps, and visual narration to present content in a contextual and exploratory way. The design process is aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum, structured around learning objectives, strategic location selection, and multimedia element integration. A storyboard was used to ensure continuity between visual and narrative components, allowing for a coherent and meaningful learning flow. The development demonstrates that geospatial-based learning media can foster relevant, engaging, and participatory educational experiences. This study is limited to the design phase; therefore, future research is needed to assess its effectiveness in enhancing student learning outcomes through classroom implementation.

Abstract

The Limboto-Gorontalo Alluvial Plain is important because it serves as the centre of settlement, development, and economic growth in Gorontalo Regency. This research aims to map the depth of shallow groundwater in Limboto alluvial plain and to know the spatial distribution of shallow groundwater depth in Limboto alluvial plain. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method with survey approach to analyse the spatial distribution pattern of shallow water table depth in Limboto Alluvial Plain. The results of groundwater depth mapping in Limboto, West Limboto, and Tabongo sub-districts, with categories of Shallow (0.39 - 2.33 metres), Medium (2.33 - 4.27 metres), and Deep (4.27 - 6.21 metres). As a result, the lowest depth was found in Haya-Haya Village (-0.03 metres) and the Deep category was found in Tabongo Barat Village (17.4 metres). These findings are very important for sustainable water resources management and can serve as a reference for policy makers and communities in planning land use effectively. As such, the results of this study are expected to support better water conservation and management efforts in the Limboto Alluvial Plain

Abstract

The potential for ecotourism development in the mangrove area in Binuanga Village needs to be explored in order to present environmentally based information. This article is part of community service activities by the Gorontalo State University postgraduate program. Community service activities aim to collect data related to ecotourism and conservation potential for the development of mangrove tourism. Data collection uses a dialogue, discussion and interview approach with the government and local communities. The output of this service activity are the types of mangrove species found at the service location and changes in the region of the mangrove area over the last 4 years. In the future, service activities will be further enhanced in depth to obtain complete data on the sustainable development of ecotourism and mangrove conservation in Binuanga Village.

Abstract

Limboto watershed is one of the watersheds in Gorontalo Province that is categorised as critical priority. This condition is caused by land degradation in the catchment area (DTA) due to uncontrolled land conversion in the upstream part of the river. The purpose of this research is to determine the soil erodibility value based on soil texture in Limboto watershed. The erodibility value in this study was obtained by matching the soil texture of the Limboto watershed from the USDA soil texture image with the soil erodibility table from Hamza (2017). The results showed that soil erodibility values in the Limboto watershed varied according to soil texture, with sandy clay loam having the lowest erodibility value (0.0264), clay (0.288), and clay loam the highest (0.394). Most areas of the watershed, especially those with high erodibility, require conservation measures to reduce erosion risk. This approach is expected to provide practical solutions in sustainable land management.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Android- based Augmented Reality media for learning geography regarding lithospheric dynamics. This research is Research and Development (R&D) research using the ADDIE development model. There are 3 methods used in this research, namely observation, black box testing method, and finally the questionnaire method to obtain validation values and see the feasibility of the Augmented Reality media created. Validation is carried out by experts, materials, media experts and learning experts. After going through validation from experts, the media was then tested on students with a total of 22 students. The results of initial trials using the black box testing method show that the Augmented Reality media application runs well. The results of the material expert validation obtained a percentage value of 82% (valid value category). The validation value of media experts received a percentage value of 84% (valid value category). The learning expert validation received a percentage score of 93% (very valid score category) and the results of the student response questionnaire received a percentage score of 94.41% (very valid score category). Judging from the results of this assessment, it can  be concluded that Augmented Reality-based learning media is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Ecotourism is a concept driven by tourist demand, while sustainable tourism includes measures to preserve the environment from the supply side, meaning by tourism service providers. Ecotourism management cannot be separated from the involvement of the community around the ecotourism area, because the community is the main key to the success of a holistically sustainable ecotourism area. This article aims to find out the extent to which similar research has been carried out based on searches on sciencedirect by looking for relationships based on keywords. The method used in this literature review is bibliometrics, namely a descriptive quantitative method, which was obtained through a web search with the site address https:www.sciencedirect.com.Where the literature data comes from Scopus with the publication type Article and uses a range of publication years between 2018 and 2024. The analysis used in this literature review is using Co-occurrence with the keyword Co-occurrence limit 12 and obtained 5 clusters. using coral reef ecotourism analysis, where there are 18 keywords divided into 5 clusters, each group has characteristics represented by one color. These keywords are spread across 401 articles over a period of 7 years, namely from 2018 to 2024. The conclusion is that the closeness between keywords can indicate the number of topics studied and researched by researchers, namely coralreef ecotourism and coralreef biodiversity, coralreef sustainable tourism and Corarseef Conservation.

Abstract

Visualization of volcanic landforms with digital elevation model (DEM) data on the GIS desktop computer has limitations regarding access to the software display function and its use outside the room. This obstacle can be overcome by combining GIS and mobile augmented Reality. However, using digital elevation model data and satellite imagery in augmented reality software has not been widely explored. This study shows a practical way of integrating geospatial data with mobile augmented reality software. This research aims to create an augmented reality prototype to visualize virtual volcano objects. DEM data and satellite imagery create 3-dimensional (3D) objects and provide texture characteristics of volcanic landform objects. Visualization of volcanic landforms is done through an augmented reality (AR) application prototype on an Android smartphone. The experimental results show that augmented reality technology effortlessly combines DEM data and land features from satellite imagery. Evaluation of a smartphone device's manufacturing and installation stages shows results with a "successful" status. Through follow-up testing nine times, the AR prototype showed positive performance in all aspects of distance, angle, and lighting. The final test scenario in the form of responses regarding the application from other users obtained an average value of the "Good" category of 92.8%. In conclusion, these results indicate that the system built can be used in learning. However, further research requires more diverse test scenarios to see how far this application prototype can be used in various conditions. Keywords: Digital Elevation Model, GIS, Augmented Realit, 3D Visualization

Abstract

The agropolitan policy implemented by the regional government in 2002 has driven changes in land use functions in Gorontalo Province. However, changes in land use intensity in Gorontalo Province have not been widely studied. This study aims to detect the spatial distribution of land use intensity from 2000 to 2020 in Gorontalo Province. A combination of Google Earth Engine and QGIS was chosen as the primary tools to detect the spatial distribution of land use intensity between 2000 and 2023 using the Global Land Cover and Land Use Change dataset. In general, the experimental results show that the area of land with medium-high and high land use intensity has increased significantly over the past two decades. This increase reflects the expansion of agricultural areas through the agropolitan program development activities by the provincial government since 2002. Thus, the use of the land use intensity index algorithm can provide information on landscape changes due to human activities. These findings are expected to serve as a reference in allocating land for future agricultural development purposes in Gorontalo Province.
