Abstract

This study examines the impact of international diversification, financial leverage, and board composition on the performance of energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2018 and 2022. Using panel data regression with the Random Effects Model (REM), the analysis includes data from 54 energy companies over a five-year period, resulting in 270 observations. The findings indicate that international diversification does not exert a significant influence on firm performance. Conversely, financial leverage has been demonstrated to exert a deleterious influence on firm performance. Furthermore, the size of the board of directors was found to have no significant impact on firm performance. These findings underscore the necessity for energy sector companies to prioritize core business operations, exercise financial responsibility, and enhance governance practices. By integrating variables that are typically studied separately, this study offers new insights into the determinants of firm performance in the energy sector. The research offers a novel theoretical perspective by combining international diversification, financial leverage, and board composition into a single analytical framework, thereby addressing a gap in the existing literature.  To further develop these findings, future research should investigate additional variables, such as macroeconomic conditions and government policies, in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence firm performance in the energy sector.

Abstract

Stock market development is influenced by various factors, including governance quality. This study analyzes the impact of the World Governance Indicators (WGI) on stock market development in Indonesia from 2008 to 2022 using regression analysis and non-parametric robustness tests. The WGI indicators examined include Voice and Accountability, Political Stability, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Rule of Law, and Control of Corruption. The regression analysis results indicate that none of these indicators significantly affect stock market capitalization. However, the robustness test using Spearman correlation with quartile-based categorization reveals that Rule of Law and Voice & Accountability significantly correlate with stock market capitalization, highlighting the importance of institutional quality in investor confidence. Additionally, inflation negatively impacts market capitalization, while GDP growth does not exhibit a significant effect. The findings suggest that strengthening legal frameworks and enhancing government transparency are crucial for fostering a stable and attractive investment climate. Keywords: World Governance Indicators, Capital Market, Inflation, GDP ABSTRAK Perkembangan pasar modal dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk kualitas tata kelola. Indikator WGI yang diteliti mencakup Voice and Accountability, Political Stability, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Rule of Law, dan Control of Corruption. Abstract

Abstract

The empowerment of the elderly through environment-based and creative economic activities has been demonstrated to have great potential to improve their quality of life, both socially and economically. The objective of this Community Service Program is to enhance the productivity of the elderly by leveraging a waste bank as a resource for the production of eco-print products. The community service program was implemented in Benda Baru Village, Pamulang District, South Tangerang City, involving elderly participants from the Elderly Health Post (Posyandu Lansia) and local waste bank managers. The program was meticulously designed, comprising multiple phases. These phases included initial coordination, socialization, technical training in eco-printing, production assistance, and evaluation and follow-up. The outcomes of this study indicate an enhancement in the participants' proficiency in processing natural materials from the waste bank into eco-print products with market value, including fabric, bags, and tablecloths. The program's social impact was multifaceted, including the enhancement of self-confidence and social engagement among the elderly participants, a reduction in loneliness, and the strengthening of social bonds within the community. Participants have begun to utilize their newly acquired skills to produce eco-print products, thereby opening up micro-business opportunities based on these products. Significant environmental impacts have been observed, including a reduction in organic waste and an increase in environmental awareness among participants, which can be attributed to the implementation of waste management through the waste bank. However, challenges such as limitations in product marketing and inconsistent raw material supply must be addressed. This program demonstrates that eco-print-based empowerment and waste management for the elderly can create sustainable positive impacts for the elderly, the local economy, and the environment. In the future, the program should concentrate on advanced training in marketing and the use of digital platforms to expand the market reach of the products produced.

Abstract

The non-cyclical consumer sector, which is defined by the production of essential goods, has demonstrated a notable degree of resilience in the face of economic fluctuations. Despite this stability, the dynamics influencing firm value in this sector remain complex. A plethora of literature has been published on topics such as dividend policy, profitability, sales growth, market risk, and inflation. Nevertheless, the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a moderating variable has received less attention. The objective of this study is to address this lacuna by examining the manner in which CSR influences the relationship between these factors and firm value. The objective of the present study is twofold: first, to provide insights into the potential long-term and short-term effects of these variables, and second, to explore the relationship between the variables and the potential effects on the patient's well-being. This study employs the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to examine dynamic panel data from 87 companies operating within the Consumer Non-Cyclicals sector and listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2023. The findings of the study demonstrate a positive correlation between profitability and firm value, while market risk and inflation exhibit a negative relationship with firm value. CSR was found to moderate the relationship between profitability, market risk, and inflation but did not moderate the effects of dividend policy or sales growth on firm value. However, its role is context-dependent and does not universally apply to all financial variables.
