Abstract

This research aims to understand the concept and regulations of Islamic pension funds (dana pensiun syariah) in Indonesia, which impact life in old age based on the Maqasid al-Shariah (objectives of Islamic law). An Islamic pension fund is a pension fund that administers a retirement program based on Sharia principles (DSN-MUI Fatwa Number: 88/DSN-MUI/XI/2013). The management of Islamic pension funds in Indonesia is carried out through investments in Sharia-compliant pension funds that are distributed to participants. This is closely tied to the contractual consequences of the underlying agreement governing the transactional relationship between DPLK (Financial Institution Pension Fund) participants and the Sharia DPLK, which is based on the contract of Wakalah bil Ujrah (agency with fee). This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method to analyze instruments of old-age protection based on Maqasid al-Shariah in the management of pension funds within Islamic financial institutions. The research is rooted in the management of pension funds aligned with the Maqasid al-Shariah, which represent the main objectives of Islamic law—namely, to realize the welfare (maslahah) of humanity in both this world and the hereafter. This pension fund also serves as a form of old-age security designed to provide income certainty for workers after entering retirement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of halal labels, brand image, and product quality on purchasing decisions for Skintific cosmetic products, as well as to evaluate the role of word of mouth in moderating the relationship between research variables among Muslim adolescents in Palu City. This study is motivated by the increasing demand for halal cosmetics by Muslim consumers and the phenomenon of digital marketing that shapes purchasing decision-making patterns through social influence and opinions on social media. The study used a quantitative method with the Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square (SEM–PLS) analysis technique, and involved 200 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The results showed that halal labels, brand image, and product quality had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. Word of mouth was proven to moderate all relationships, but with different dynamics: negative moderation of the relationship between halal labels and purchasing decisions, and positive moderation of brand image and product quality. This study provides academic and practical contributions in cosmetic marketing strategies for the Muslim adolescent consumer segment.

Abstract

Islamic Financial Institutions in Indonesia operate based on Islamic sharia principles, which make contracts the primary basis for every financial transaction. A contract is an agreement or agreement between two parties that is legally and sharia-compliant, and serves as the legal basis for economic activities. This study aims to identify various types of contracts used in Islamic Financial Institutions in Indonesia and analyze their practical application in financial products and services. The research method used is a qualitative study with a descriptive analytical approach. Data were obtained through literature studies, DSN-MUI fatwa documentation, and analysis of practices in Islamic banking, BMT, and Islamic Financial Institutions. The results show that Islamic Financial Institutions in Indonesia use various types of contracts, both tabarru' contracts (benevolent/non-profit contracts) such as Wadiah and Qard, and Tijarah contracts (commercial/profit-oriented contracts) such as Murabahah, Ijarah, and Istishna'. The implementation of these contracts is tailored to product characteristics and customer needs. For example, the murabahah contract is widely applied in consumer financing, while the musyarakah and mudharabah contracts are used in productive business financing. The ijarah contract is commonly used in leasing products, and the wadiah contract is applied in checking account savings products. In practice, several challenges remain, such as limitations in the concept of the contract and the need for Sharia principles to prevent practices that approach usury. This research emphasizes the importance of public education regarding Sharia contracts and the need for more accurate Sharia supervision to ensure consistent implementation of contracts in accordance with Sharia principles. With a proper understanding and implementation of contracts, Sharia financial institutions can continue to grow and provide a fair, transparent, and ethical financial alternative in Indonesia. Abstract

Sukuk has become a strategic instrument in global Islamic finance and an important pillar of development financing in Indonesia, especially after the enactment of the Sovereign Sukuk Law (SBSN) in 2008. However, the rapid expansion of sovereign sukuk has not been matched by adequate public understanding or corporate participation, reflecting the need for a clearer examination of sukuk concepts, systems, and operations. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of regulations, DSN-MUI fatwas, and reports from OJK, BI, and KNEKS, supported by academic publications. Using a descriptive–analytical method, the study explores the structure, mechanisms, challenges, and prospects of the sukuk market in Indonesia. The findings indicate that sukuk is based on real ownership, the prohibition of riba, and Sharia-compliant contracts, distinguishing it from conventional bonds. Indonesia’s sukuk market operates within a strong regulatory framework, with issuance involving contract structuring, underlying asset determination, and primary and secondary market processes. Despite significant growth, challenges remain, including low literacy, limited Sharia infrastructure, and modest corporate sukuk issuance. Nonetheless, regulatory support, digitalization through e-SBN, and rising interest in sustainable instruments highlight sukuk’s potential to strengthen development financing and deepen the Islamic financial market.
