Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh Program Studi Teknologi Laboratorium Medik dilakukan di SMP Negeri 6 Denpasar melibatkan seluruh dosen program Studi Teknologi Laboratorium Medik yang berjumlah 5 orang dan 21 orang mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam HIMATLM dan ini diikuti oleh 527 siswa sebagai peserta. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa SMP tentang dampak negatif penggunaan rokok elektrik serta memberikan wawasan mengenai Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) yang sangat berperan dalam mencegah penularan Virus Corona. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode penyuluhan dan pemeriksaan angka kuman yang disertai juga dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab di akhir acara. Adanya kegiatan ini diharapkan siswa dapat menghindari penggunaan rokok elektrik serta mampu menerapkan PHBS dan menjadikannya sebagai kebiasaan di kehidupan sehari-hari

Abstract

Nanoparticles have been used in therapies applied to target specific parts. By delivering electrons to free radicals, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) can reduce their activity and stop a chain reaction that would otherwise result in the creation of more free radicals. But the most common way to create silver nanoparticles is to use a variety of organic and inorganic reducing agents to chemically reduce silver precursors, usually silver salts. Various stabilizing or capping agents are frequently used to this process. Green synthesis and other ecologically friendly synthesis techniques are becoming more popular for producing metal nanoparticles that adhere to biodiversity principles. Accordingly, this study has determined that the tulak tree is a plant that effectively reduces green space. This study uses different concentrations of AgNO3 solution at 1 mM and 2 mM. A Particle Size Analyzer's (PSA), The distribution of sizes of the artificially produced AgNPs was examined. The particles measuring between 1 and 100 nm made from the Tulak wood leaf extract with the corresponding AgNO3 concentrations had average diameters of 88.2 nm and 16.9 nm. AgNPs were also shown to exist in a range of shapes, encompassing sphere, hexagonal, and triangular ones, according to Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) examination. Antioxidant qualities are displayed by AgNPs made with Tulak wood leaf extract. These antioxidant properties were assessed utilizing DPPH, which has 517 nm is the greatest absorption. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity's outcomes tests show that the AgNPs made using Tulak wood leaf extract biosynthesis have comparatively low antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah cuka putih suling dapat menekan pertumbuhan Escherichia  coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Untuk membandingkan efek kuasi-eksperimental cuka putih suling dan kontrol terhadap  pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus dan Escheerichia colii, penelitian ini menggunakan desain kelompok kontrol pasca-uji  saja. Pada konsentrasi cuka putih suling 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100%, lebar zona hambatan yang tercipta terhadap mikoba  Escherichia coli masing-masing adalah 12,6 ± 0,2 mm, 15,7 ± 0,3 mm, 19,3 ± 0,5 mm, dan 21,0 ± 0,4 mm, menurut  penelitian. Staphylococcus aureus menunjukkan zona penghambatan dengan diameter 12,4 ± 0,2 mm, 23,5 ± 0,2 mm, 25,1  ± 0,1 mm, dan 26,8 ± 0,3 mm sebagai respons terhadap konsentrasi cuka putih suling masing-masing 25%, 50%, 75%, dan  100%. Kita dapat menyimpulkan bahwa cuka suling memiliki kualitas antimikroba terhadap Escherichia coli dan  Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Pura Besakih located in Karangasem district, Bali is one of the largest Hindu worship sites and is considered a center of spirituality. The ceremony of Ida Bhatara Down Kabeh takes place on the tenth month of the Bali Calendar every year. Universitas Bali Internasional (UNBI) has launched a free medical check-up initiative targeting the religious leaders who lead the ceremonies and visitors to the temple who are Hindu during the ceremony. This activity is a real implementation that the UNBI routinely performs every year through Community Services. UNBI collaboration in Pura Besakih not only provides medical check-up but also builds inter-agency relationships and raises the understanding of how vital community health is. This community service activity is carried out through a collaboration between lecturers and undergraduate students of the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology Study Program. This activity has been implemented on April 19, 2023, with a medical check-up covering cholesterol and uric acid levels. This medical examination uses the Point of Care testing method (POCT). This activity concluded that in uric acid tests, there were 40% above normal levels consisting of 34% males (average uric acid levels 8.5 mg/dL) and 66% females (averaged uric Acid levels 6.7 mg/ dL). In the cholesterol tests, 39% were beyond normal levels, which consisted of 26% male (averaging cholesterol levels 230,1 mg/dL) and 74% female (237.2 mg / dL) cholesterol.

Abstract

Tingginya angka infeksi menular seksual di kalangan remaja menunjukkan adanya kebutuhan mendesak akan intervensi edukatif yang tepat sasaran. Remaja merupakan kelompok usia yang rentan terhadap perilaku seksual berisiko akibat minimnya pengetahuan dan pengaruh perubahan biologis serta sosial. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja mengenai infeksi menular seksual melalui penyuluhan kesehatan yang dilakukan secara sistematis di sepuluh sekolah menengah atas dan kejuruan di wilayah Bali. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah interaktif yang disertai sesi diskusi dan evaluasi pengetahuan peserta melalui pre-test dan post-test. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk mengukur tingkat partisipasi dan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta setelah menerima materi penyuluhan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 75% peserta mengisi pre-test dan post-test dengan peningkatan skor rata-rata dari 85% menjadi 90%, yang mengindikasikan partisipasi aktif peserta telah melebihi ambang minimal yang ditetapkan, dan secara umum kegiatan ini mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta terkait infeksi menular seksual. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan kesehatan mampu berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan literasi kesehatan reproduksi remaja, meskipun masih diperlukan inovasi dalam metode penyampaian agar keterlibatan peserta dapat lebih maksimal dan berdampak. Dalam jangka panjang, penerapan model blended learning dan pelibatan pengajar sebaya diharapkan dapat memperkuat perubahan perilaku positif dan menurunkan insiden IMS secara berkelanjutan di kalangan remaja.

Abstract

Background: Apple cider vinegar is a fermentation of apple cider which contains various compounds that are beneficial for health. Such can be useful as an antibacterial due to the content of acetic acid, gallic acid, and catechins. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of apple cider vinegar and the most effective concentration of apple cider vinegar in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in vitro. Method: The method used in this study is a quasi experimental with disc diffusion for antibacterial testing. In this study, four concentrations of apple cider vinegar were used, that are 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%. Result: The results of the antibacterial activity test on Escherichia coli showed the average diameter of the inhibition zone, i.e. 12.33 ± 0.12 mm (strong category) for concentration 100%, 10.57 ± 0.20 mm (strong category) for concentration 75%, 6.52 ± 0.22 mm (medium category) for concentration 50%, and 2.56 ± 0.18 mm (weak category) for concentration 25%. Whereas Staphylococcus aureus showed the average diameter of the inhibition, i.e. 14,56 ± 0,46 mm (strong category) for concentration 100%, 12,60 ± 0,07 mm (strong category) for concentration 75%, 8,62 ± 0,04 mm (medium category) for concentration 50%, and 4,54 ± 0,12 mm (weak category) for concentration 25%. Conclusion: Apple cider vinegar concentrations of 75% and 100% were effective in inhibiting the growth of the two test bacteria because they showed inhibition with strong category. Abstract

The chemical name for vinegar is acetic acid, which is derived from the Latin word acetum. Acetic acid, ethane acid, or vinegar is a chemical compound of organic acids and is the most important carboxylic acid in commerce, industry and laboratories known as acidity. And the taste of food. However, keep in mind that vinegar can act as a disinfectant. A well-known type of vinegar is apple cider vinegar. With the above background in mind, this study formulates the question of how apple cider vinegar inhibits the growth of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The analysis of this study was performed in the form of a quasi-experimental experiment, ie by comparing the inhibitory power of apple cider vinegar with the control of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus growth, and the design of a pure control group after the test. Thing. Based on the results of the studies conducted, the diameters of the inhibition zones formed in Escherichia coli of foreign apple cider vinegar, Indonesian apple cider vinegar, and local apple cider vinegar are 12.33 ± 0.12 mm, 2.21 ± 0.12 mm. It is shown that. And 7.42 ± 0.09 mm. The diameters of the inhibition zones formed on the yellow staphylococci of foreign apple cider vinegar were 14.56 ± 0.46 mm, 0.00 ± 0.00 mm and 10.36 ± 0.27 mm for Indonesian apple cider vinegar and local apple cider vinegar, respectively. Hmm. From this, we can conclude that apple cider vinegar has an antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

People in urban areas tend to have unhealthy lifestyles, especially teenagers. This can trigger various diseases. Health status needs to be considered from an early age, especially paying attention to the intake of sugar in the body. Excess sugar levels in the blood are one of the causes of diabetes mellitus. Measurement of blood sugar (GDS) in adolescents of SMAN 7 Denpasar aims to screen for Diabetes Mellitus (DM) to detect this disease early. The method is done by checking the blood sugar test (GDS), weight, and height. The results of the blood sugar test in this community service activity showed that out of 50 students with a ratio of male and female percentages of 40% and 60% respectively, only 4% were identified with low blood sugar levels while the remaining 96% had normal blood sugar levels. The conclusion of the community service at SMAN 7 Denpasar is that most of the students have normal blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Tulak plant is a type of plant that commonly used as a traditional ceremonies and traditional medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of secondary metabolites in tulak leaves (Schefflera elliptica (Blume) Harms) and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The extraction method used is the maceration method and for the antibacterial test using the well method. The results of the phytochemical screening test on tulak leaves contain saponins, tannins, phenols and alkaloids. The results of the antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% respectively had inhibition zones of 6.10±0.05 mm, 7.15±0.03 mm, 8.12±0 .04 mm, and 9.07 ± 0.05 mm which are categorized as moderate. The results of the antibacterial activity test against Escherichia coli at concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% respectively did not show the formation of an inhibition zone so value was 0.00±0.00 mm. The conclusion from this study is that tulak leaves (Schefflera elliptica (Blume) Harms) have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus but do not have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Cacingan adalah salah satu penyakit di daerah beriklim tropis yang sering kali diremehkan dan diabaikan. Penyakit cacingan pada manusia disebabkan adanya infeksi cacing yang ditularkan melalui tanah (Soil Transmitted Helminth). Prevalensi cacingan di Indonesia umumnya masih tinggi dengan persentase 60-90%. Anak-anak yang berada dalam usia sekolah dasar adalah golongan yang paling berisiko mengalami infeksi ini. Penyuluhan mengenai cacingan serta perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) penting dilakukan utamanya kepada anak-anak sekolah dasar untuk mencegah cacingan. Oleh karena itu, Program Studi Sarjana Terapan Teknologi Laboratorium Medis Universitas Bali Internasional melaksanakan penyuluhan kesehatan di SD Sathya Sai Denpasar untuk mengukur personal hygiene dan skrining risiko cacingan dari siswa di sekolah tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan, wawancara dan pemeriksaan langsung. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan, diketahui bahwa secara umum, para siswa sudah memiliki kebiasaan personal hygiene yang baik. Hasil pemeriksaan potongan kuku siswa menunjukkan tidak ditemukan telur cacing, yang berarti risiko cacingan pada siswa SD Sathya Sai tergolong rendah.
