Abstract

Concrete is a material that has been widely used to build various types of buildings. To produce concrete that meets the requirements, research and quality of the mixed materials used are needed. Additional materials for concrete are a mixture of basic materials such as water, cement, fine aggregate, and coarse aggregate, and ash. In previous studies, the silica content of onggok starch ash or aren pulp ash was 27.89%. This study aims to determine the compressive strength value of concrete with the addition of aren pulp ash to the weight of cement at the age of 28 days. This study was conducted in the laboratory using a quantitative method with data taken based on the results of research in the laboratory. Arenga pulp ash was added as an additional cement material at levels of 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% to the compressive strength of concrete. The results of this study for the planned Bet-on met the requirements of 20 MPa with a compressive strength of 21.81 MPa; a mixture variation of 2.5% was 16.37 MPa, 5% was 15.66 MPa, and 7.5% was 15.56 MPa. Based on the results of the concrete compressive strength test with the addition of palm waste ash to the concrete mixture, there was a decrease in the compressive strength of the concrete, so the addition of palm waste ash cannot be used for the concrete mixture because it causes a decrease in the compressive strength of the concrete.

Abstract

Tanah lempung memiliki sifat yang tidak stabil yaitu tanah kohesif yang mempunyai kekuatan geser rendah serta memiliki daya dukung yang rendah danĀ  umumnya memiliki nilai CBR yang rendah. Upaya perbaikan karakteristik tanah ini dilakukan melalui stabilisasi kimiawi dengan memanfaatkan limbah abu ampas aren dan semen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai CBR tanah lempung dengan penambahan abu ampas aren 3%, 6%, dan 9% serta 5% semen. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Pengujian ini dilakukan meliputi pengujian sifat fisis tanah (kadar air, berat isi, berat jenis, analisis saringan, dan batas Atterberg), pengujian pemadatan dan pengujian CBR Unsoaked. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa klasifikasi tanah menurut sistem AASHTO tanah termasuk ke dalam kelompok A6 yaitu tanah berlempung dengan nilai indeks plastisitas tinggi. Dengan nilai CBR tanah asli sebesar 5,097%. Setelah dilakukan stabilisasi pada tanah asli dengan campuran variasi abu ampas aren 3% dan semen 5% nilai CBR yang diperoleh sebesar 7,585%, pada tanah asli dengan campuran variasi abu ampas aren 6% dan semen 5% nilai CBR yang diperoleh sebesar 9,157%, dan tanah asli dengan campuran variasi abu ampas aren 9% dan semen 5% nilai CBR yang diperoleh sebesar 11,058%. Hal tersebut menujukkan bahwa semakin banyak penambahan variasi abu ampas aren yang diberikan, semakin tinggi pula nilai CBR yang didapatkan.

Abstract

Inorganic waste management remains a significant environmental challenge in rural areas. This Community Service Program (PkM) aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention on inorganic waste management in improving the knowledge and attitudes of residents in Sirnajaya Village, Garut. The program was conducted on February 4, 2026, in collaboration with the Garut Zero Waste community using a pre-test and post-test design involving 18 participants, consisting of housewives, university lecturers, and community members. The assessment instrument covered five indicators: understanding the definition of inorganic waste, identifying examples of inorganic waste, recognizing the environmental impacts of improper waste disposal, attitudes toward waste segregation, and intentions to reduce the use of single-use plastics. The results showed that 83.3% of the participants already possessed a high level of baseline knowledge. Consequently, the improvement in post-education scores was relatively limited, with an average normalized gain (N-Gain) of 0.11. This finding reflects a common ceiling effect, rather than indicating the ineffectiveness of the educational program. Nevertheless, three out of eighteen participants with lower initial knowledge demonstrated substantial improvements, achieving moderate to high levels of learning gain. Overall, the program contributed primarily to strengthening participants' knowledge and behavioral intentions regarding inorganic waste management. However, measurable changes in actual household waste management practices require further medium-term observation and follow-up evaluation.
