Imam Al-Ghazali is a prominent scholar whose intellectual legacy has become a reference in various fields of knowledge. Known for his brilliance and piety, Al-Ghazali serves as an exemplary figure, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning as long as one’s heart continues to beat. This study employs a literature research method, gathering information from scholarly works such as books, scientific journals, credible websites, articles, and other relevant sources. The collected data are then analyzed to produce findings. The research focuses on Al-Ghazali's views on Islamic education as written in his seminal work Ihya Ulumuddin and discusses the potential diseases of knowledge that may afflict its bearers. Islamic education aims to cultivate individuals with noble character (akhlaqul karimah), ultimately bringing them closer to Allah. It encompasses: (1) Faith education, (2) Moral education, (3) Intellectual education, (4) Social education, and (5) Physical education, summarized into aqliyah (rational sciences) and muktasabah (acquired sciences). The diseases of knowledge include: (1) Arrogance, (2) Hypocrisy, (3) Fear, (4) Contentment with ignorance, (5) Extravagance, (6) Selling knowledge for worldly gain, (7) Excessive talk, (8) Failing to practice knowledge, (9) Flattering authorities with knowledge, and (10) Overstating the truth.

Abstract

Abstract

This writing aims to identify innovations that can be made in the learning media of Islamic education subjects and the dissemination process of these innovations so that they can be used publicly through internet media. This research is of a qualitative type with a literature research model used in this writing technique. Literature research is research to seek, process, and analyze data sourced from documents, texts, manuscripts, and other written literacy materials to uncover the content of ideas and meanings that are implicitly or explicitly contained within them. The results of this study suggest that innovations in Islamic education learning media can use several options such as digital platforms, Islamic education learning applications, educational videos, Virtual Reality technology, games, podcasts, and audio recordings. Dissemination is the final process of innovation, which is a structured and planned process for spreading the results of the innovation that can be carried out directly or online. Online dissemination is used to address issues of time and flexibility in the dissemination process as well as to improve the quality of learning by providing innovative new media that can be accessed anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the way society accesses and understands religious information through social media, search engines, and AI-based chatbots. This condition creates challenges related to religious misinformation, algorithmic bias, and the shift of religious authority from traditional scholars to digital platforms. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of religious misinformation in the AI ecosystem, examine the crisis of religious authority, and formulate a religious moderation strategy based on digital literacy. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach. Data were collected from scientific journals, books, reports, and recent studies related to AI, digital religion, and religious moderation. Data analysis used critical and interpretative content analysis through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that AI algorithms contribute to filter bubbles, echo chambers, fragmented religious understanding, and AI hallucination in religious discourse. Digital popularity increasingly replaces sanad-based authority and creates algorithmic authority in religious practices. Religious moderation based on wasathiyah values and digital tabayyun literacy becomes an important strategy to mitigate radicalization and misinformation in digital spaces. AI should function as an educational assistant, while moral and theological authority remains centered on scholars and religious institutions.

Abstract

This article aims to reinterpret the concept of adab in Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim by Burhān al-Dīn al-Zarnūjī in order to clearly distinguish between the ethical values of Islamic education and practices of symbolic feudalism within pesantren education. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review of classical texts, Islamic educational studies, and sociological literature on education. The analysis is conducted through a normative reading of the concept of adab in Ta‘lim al-Muta‘allim, combined with a critical interpretation of contemporary pesantren educational practices. The findings indicate that adab in al-Zarnūjī’s thought constitutes a pedagogical ethic that regulates learning orientation, evidentially grounded rationality, ethical relations between teachers and students, self-discipline, and the formation of a conducive educational social environment. The concept of adab is not intended to negate critical reasoning, but rather to cultivate intellectual and moral responsibility among seekers of knowledge. Feudalism in pesantren education is understood as a sociological ph,enomenon arising from charismatic authority structures and symbolic domination, rather than as a direct consequence of normative Islamic teachings. The distortion of adab emerges when its ethical values are reduced to absolute obedience without space for dialogue and critical reflection. Reinterpreting adab as an emancipatory ethic is therefore essential to restoring the function of pesantren education as a space for forming knowledgeable, ethical, critical, and morally responsible individuals.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) faces the challenge of fostering learning that goes beyond mere mastery of religious knowledge to cultivate critical, contextual, and adaptive thinking skills capable of keeping pace with advancements in science and technology. This article aims to analyze and formulate a multidisciplinary concept for PAI content grounded in the integration of reason and revelation as an epistemological foundation to guide the development of learning materials. The study employs a qualitative approach, specifically library research. Data were gathered from the Qur'an, Hadith, scholarly books, accredited national and reputable international journal articles, and various literature concerning Islamic education, the integration of knowledge, and multidisciplinary approaches. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, involving stages of data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings indicate that the integration of reason and revelation serves as an epistemological foundation capable of eliminating the dichotomy between religious and secular sciences in the development of PAI content. A multidisciplinary approach enables PAI material to be developed holistically by integrating various disciplines such as tafsir (exegesis), Hadith, fiqh (jurisprudence), philosophy, psychology, sociology, history, science, technology, and environmental science. Reconstructing the material in this way results in learning that is more contextual and meaningful, while also fostering 21st-century competencies including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy alongside the formation of Islamic character.
