Abstract

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the needs for developing multicultural learning media based on local wisdom through a Virtual Digital Storytelling (VDS) approach to strengthen students’ tolerance attitudes at Santo Ignasius Senior High School, Singkawang City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design using purposive sampling. The main informants consisted of the Principal, Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs, Vice Principal for Student Affairs, History Teacher, and a local sister (nun) figure. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically following the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing), with data validity ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that although the school has a strong foundation of tolerance culture and supportive curricular programs (P5), there remains a pedagogical gap characterized by the dominance of conventional learning media and students’ preference for visual–interactive formats. Informants agreed on the urgency of developing VDS containing narratives of local wisdom (e.g., Cap Go Meh, Naik Dango, and interfaith traditions) to provide contextual learning experiences that foster empathy, solidarity, and cooperation among students. The study recommends developing short-duration VDS prototypes with interactive elements and mobile accessibility, conducting digital literacy training for teachers, and collaborating with local cultural figures to ensure content authenticity. The implications of this study highlight that integrating local content with narrative technology can serve as an effective strategy for instilling tolerance values in multicultural schools. Keyword: Virtual Digital Storytelling, local wisdom, multicultural education, tolerance, character education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internalization of the values contained in Akhlaqul Lil Banin Volume I as an effort to prevent bullying behavior among students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ushuluddin Singkawang. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving guidance and counseling teachers, the vice principal for curriculum affairs, subject teachers, and seventh-grade students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the internalization of Akhlaqul Lil Banin Volume I values was carried out through classroom learning, teacher role modeling, habituation of madrasa culture, and the integration of moral values into daily religious activities. The values internalized included respect for teachers, proper speech etiquette, humility (tawadhu'), discipline, empathy, responsibility, and mutual respect. The internalization process contributed to positive behavioral changes among students, as reflected in improved self-control, more constructive social interactions, and a reduced tendency toward verbal and social bullying within the madrasa environment. This study concludes that the internalization of Akhlaqul Lil Banin Volume I values serves as an effective preventive strategy in shaping students' character and fostering a safe, harmonious, and religious educational environment.

Abstract

The main problem faced by history teachers is that historical materials are often perceived as abstract and less engaging, and many teachers are not yet accustomed to using digital media such as Prezi effectively. This training aimed to equip teachers with the skills to design engaging history learning materials that align with the characteristics of digital native students through the use of Prezi. The activity was conducted at Universitas Tanjungpura and involved 15 senior high school history teachers in Pontianak City who are members of the History MGMP, as well as pre-service teachers. The core workshop was held on September 20, 2025, using a training–practice–mentoring model that integrated conceptual delivery, hands-on practice, and technical assistance. The results showed a significant positive impact, as participants improved their understanding of digital native learning behaviors and their technical skills in operating Prezi. Teachers were able to present history materials in a more dynamic and interactive manner, reflecting the integration of technological and pedagogical knowledge (TPACK). Participants’ questionnaire responses also indicated very positive perceptions of the usefulness and quality of the training.
