Abstract

The Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) is a scale to measure a person's level of mindfulness. FFMQ has been used extensively in other countries. In multi-construct research, a scale with fewer items is needed but with a qualified psychometric value. The purpose of this study was to obtain a short version of the Indonesian FFMQ which has good psychometric properties. The research was carried out in three stages, namely the adaptation stage, the long form test stage and then the short form test. The sample of this study is Indonesian people who are over 15 years old. The results show that the short form has shown good results. This indicates that the short form version of FFMQ Indonesia has good psychometric properties.

Abstract

Gender representation in Indonesian school textbooks has been widely analysed. However, the compulsory national tests have lacked attention although these used to be a main tool to determine students’ competencies. This research aims to evaluate gender representation in the Indonesian Education System, especially in the national tests. Using content analysis, we examined both male and female representation in the Junior High School English national tests from 1994 to 2004. The findings reveal that the English national tests were content-valid tests. Before 1998, the tests reflected the patriarchal culture embraced by Indonesians during the New Order era. For example, female names were associated with feminine traits and the domestic sphere, while male names were associated with masculine traits and the public sphere. Meanwhile, the tests after 1998 indicated how female names were given more opportunities in the public sphere although male names still dominated the discussion on employment. This result is in line with the theoretical and practical implications, in which gender roles are represented based on the culture of the society.

Abstract

This study investigates the interrelation between physical activity and employee well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta. Drawing on existing literature, which predominantly links physical activity to health outcomes, this research aims to explore its correlation with employee well-being. Utilizing the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Employee Well-Being (EWB) Scale, both translated into Indonesian, the study employed a correlation analysis to examine these dynamics. The findings indicate a statistically significant relationship between physical activity and employee well-being, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.205 (p < 0.05). This research contributes to the broader understanding of physical activity's impact, extending beyond mere health benefits to encompass employee well-being, thus offering valuable insights for workplace health promotion strategies during unprecedented times like during the pandemic Covid-19.

Abstract

Academic resilience is an individual response to overcome the academic difficulties. Scholars indicate that academic resilience has three dimensions,1)Perseverance, which reflects behavioral responses, 2) Reflection, and 3) Adaptive help-seeking, which reflects cognitive responses and negative affect and emotional responses that reflect the affective dimension. The Academic Resilience Scale (ARS-30) is the latest instrument that measures academic resilience. Unfortunately, the scale has not been adapted inthe Indonesian version. An adaptation process is needed to suit with the Indonesian’s context and culture. Theaimof this study wasinvestigatingthe validationofthe ARS-30in the Indonesian version. Adaptation process wascarried out following guidelines by the International Test Commission(ITC). Data were collected from 586 college student in Indonesia selected from accidental sampling. Based on the analysis of reliability testing, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA)and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA)using JASP indicatedthat the ARS-Indonesiaversionwasvalid and reliable to measureacademic resilience. Discussion and implication of theARS-Indonesia model were presented in the following article.

Abstract

Platform workers in Indonesia face a significant dilemma, particularly regarding employment security. Being classified as independent workers means they do not receive the same protections and benefits as regular employees in Indonesia. If employment security and benefits are seen as a safety net for employees in difficult situations, for platform workers in Indonesia, that net is fragile—prone to breaking at any moment. To address this dilemma, this study employs a juridical-normative and conceptual research approach to explore alternatives to legal enforcement. The findings suggest that if sanctions on platform companies and workers prove ineffective, reward mechanisms—such as a “Zero Accident Award”—could motivate platform companies to encourage worker participation in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (social security). By offering recognition and public rewards, this soft law approach can increase compliance and improve worker protection without changing the legal status of platform workers. Additionally, the community award for platform workers to increase awareness of individual registration is also encourages. In a rapidly evolving digital economy, such strategies could help address gaps where traditional legal frameworks are inadequate.

Abstract

Abstract

This research examines the relationship between the conflicting role and the academic well-being of students who are both studying and working. It is widely assumed that students who are both working and studying experience low academic well-being, such as getting low grades, being not confident with academic performance, and feeling removed from college activities. On the other hand, most of them also experience a conflict between the multiple roles they engage in, and this reduces their productivity. Based on the literature, role conflict often occurs in individuals who have difficulty in determining the scale of priorities and responsibilities. Previous research has shown how role conflict was related to the well-being of part-time working students. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine whether role conflict of full-time working students is related to their subjective well-being. This study was quantitative with questionnaire data collection technique. The participants in this study were 100 college students in private universities in Jakarta. The data analysis technique used was the Spearman correlation test. The result showed that there was no relation between role conflict of working students and their academic subjective well-being. Theoritical and practical implications are discussed later.
