Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of academic supervision in improving teachers’ instructional quality at MAN 2 Bandung, with a focus on supervision practices, teacher competency development processes, teaching performance indicators, implementation constraints, and strategies for enhancing supervision effectiveness. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed in this research. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving three informants, namely the vice principal for curriculum affairs and two teachers who had participated in academic supervision activities, conducted in April 2026. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that academic supervision was implemented in a humanistic, collaborative, and partnership-based manner through a structured cycle of pre-observation, classroom observation, post-observation, reflection, feedback, and follow-up. This process contributed to improvements in teachers’ lesson planning, instructional implementation, classroom management, use of learning technology, and formative assessment. The main challenges included limited time, heavy teaching workload, a limited number of supervisors, and teachers’ anxiety during observation, while improvement strategies were implemented through peer coaching, Subject Teacher Forum (MGMP), training programs, peer mentoring, digital supervision, and provision of learning facilities. The novelty of this study lies in strengthening a partnership-based academic supervision model that integrates evaluation and professional development functions in a collaborative manner within the madrasah context.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to reconstruct the essence of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) based on the perspectives of the Qur'an, Hadith, mufassirun (Qur'anic exegetes), and muhaddithun (Hadith scholars), and to formulate its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges. Method: This research employs a qualitative approach through library research. Data were collected from the Qur'an, Hadith, classical and contemporary tafsir works, Hadith literature, and Islamic educational thought. The data were analyzed using content analysis and thematic interpretation. Results: The findings indicate that the essence of Islamic Religious Education extends beyond the transmission of religious knowledge. It encompasses ta'lim (instruction), tarbiyah (nurturing), ta'dib (character formation), and tazkiyah (spiritual purification) aimed at developing faith, knowledge, morality, intellectual competence, and social responsibility. The perspectives of the Qur'an, Hadith, mufassirun, and muhaddithun consistently emphasize the formation of insan kamil—a complete human being who fulfills the roles of servant of God and steward of the earth. In the context of globalization, Islamic education must integrate spiritual values, scientific literacy, ethical character, critical thinking, and digital competence. Novelty: This study offers an integrative reconstruction of the essence of Islamic Religious Education by synthesizing interpretations from Qur'anic exegesis, Hadith scholarship, and Islamic educational thought across different historical periods, resulting in a holistic and transformative educational framework relevant to contemporary society.

Abstract

The study aims to explore and analyze in depth the real experiences of students at SMPN 7 Jambi City in managing their daily pocket money. The study was conducted by identifying the forms of financial literacy education implemented by the school. The results obtained are an understanding of the meaning of this education for students in forming their financial habits. The novelty focuses on the depth of meaning from the perspective of key informants. A qualitative approach method with a phenomenological study design was carried out at SMPN 7 Jambi City. Data were collected from 11 participants (including the principal, vice principal, teachers, students, and parents) through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. All data were analyzed qualitatively interactively and validated using member checking with NVivo 12 software. The results are to see the real impact of education on students' economic behavior. This was done by tracking students' responses to digital money. The phenomenon of "digital money illusion" was found due to FOMO, but was successfully reduced through a savings program at Bank 9 Jambi which fostered students' self-control to delay gratification despite still facing obstacles.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the implementation of scouting activities through handicraft-based Field Enrichment Practice (Praktik Pengayaan Lapangan/PPL) at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor and explores the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing its implementation. Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted using purposive sampling. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving PPL students, scout coaches, and supervisors. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, while source and technique triangulation were employed to ensure data credibility. Results: The findings reveal that scouting activities were implemented systematically through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Handicraft-based activities promoted experiential learning by enhancing students' creativity, practical skills, teamwork, discipline, responsibility, leadership, and independence. Institutional support, structured mentoring, and active student participation facilitated successful implementation, whereas limited time, resource availability, and differences in students' abilities were identified as the primary challenges. Novelty: This study demonstrates that integrating handicraft-based scouting activities into the Field Enrichment Practice program provides an experiential learning model that simultaneously strengthens character education, practical competencies, creativity, and collaborative skills within the context of an Islamic boarding school.

Abstract

This study analyzes the practice of a school culture based on the value of compassion through the implementation of the Love Curriculum, describes the process of internalizing the value of compassion in the formation of students' social character, and identifies supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation at MA Misbahul Fata. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. Data validity was tested through triangulation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that a school culture based on the value of compassion is realized through habituation, role models, religious activities, and humanistic social interactions. This process encourages the development of empathy, social responsibility, and mutual respect in students. Its implementation is supported by the commitment of the school community, a religious madrasah environment, and parental support, but still faces obstacles such as differences in student backgrounds and limited supervision outside the school. This study offers a study on the implementation of the Love Curriculum as the basis of a school culture based on the value of compassion in the formation of students' social character, by emphasizing the process of internalizing values through social interactions and continuous habituation of the school culture.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of parental roles and Islamic Religious Education teachers on students’ character at SMP El Dzikr Islamic Boarding School Bulu Sukoharjo during the 2025/2026 academic year. It employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design. The population comprised 46 students, all of whom were selected as respondents through total sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire measuring parental roles, Islamic Religious Education teachers’ roles, and students’ character. Each variable consisted of ten statement items. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, normality, linearity, heteroscedasticity, multiple linear regression, partial t-tests, simultaneous F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings showed that parental roles had a positive and significant effect on students’ character, with a regression coefficient of 0.379, a t-value of 2.477, and a significance value of 0.017. The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers also had a positive and significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.319, a t-value of 2.517, and a significance value of 0.016. Simultaneously, both variables significantly affected students’ character, as indicated by an F-value of 7.032 and a significance value of 0.002. The two variables explained 24.6% of the variation in students’ character. These findings highlight the importance of consistent role modelling, religious habituation, supervision, communication, and collaboration between families and Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of makhorijul huruf learning based on an educational dental model teaching aid in Al-Qur’an learning at MI Al-Ikhlas, to identify students’ responses to its use, and to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results showed that the use of the educational dental model teaching aid helped students understand makhorijul huruf more concretely through the visualization of the positions of the tongue, teeth, lips, oral cavity, and throat when pronouncing hijaiyah letters. This media improved students’ understanding of the articulation points of letters, facilitated their ability to distinguish letters with similar sounds, and increased their motivation, attention, and active participation during the learning process. The implementation of the educational dental model teaching aid also made learning more engaging and effective compared to conventional methods that rely solely on lectures and verbal imitation. Supporting factors included students’ tendency to understand material more easily through visual learning, teacher support, and the use of concrete and interactive learning media.

Abstract

Spirituality and local wisdom values play an important role in organizational behavior, but their integration into leadership and lecturer commitment in higher education institutions has not been widely explored. This study aims to understand the effect of spiritual leadership on lecturer commitment, mediated by Tri Hita Karana (THK) culture and spiritual wellbeing. The study used an exploratory quantitative design involving 98 lecturers from higher education institutions using the inverse square root and gamma exponential methods. The sample size was determined using purposive sampling, with the criterion that participants be permanent Hindu lecturers holding a minimum functional position of assistant expert. Data analysis used a PLS-SEM second-order reflective model. The results indicate that spiritual leadership impacts organizational commitment, THK, and lecturers' spiritual wellbeing. THK culture and spiritual wellbeing play significant roles as mediators of the effects of spiritual leadership on organizational commitment. These findings suggest that integrating personal spirituality and local cultural values into leadership can strengthen lecturers' commitment. Higher education management needs to develop leadership in harmony with local cultural wisdom and spirituality to foster a harmonious academic environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of quality management based on Islamic values in improving teacher professionalism at MTs Kemuning Pacitan. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were teachers and the head of the madrasah, while the object focused on the implementation of quality management and its impact on teacher professionalism. The findings reveal that quality management has been implemented through the main functions of educational management, namely planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. Islamic values such as sincerity (ikhlas), trustworthiness (amanah), discipline, and responsibility are integrated through religious activities and moral development programs. The head of the madrasah plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher professionalism through teacher selection, training, supervision, and competency development programs such as workshops and professional forums. The implementation of this approach has a positive impact on increasing teachers’ awareness, responsibility, and commitment in carrying out their duties. However, several challenges remain, including limited facilities and infrastructure, differences in teachers’ educational backgrounds, and the uneven integration of Islamic values into the learning process.
