Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of time discipline as reflected in Surah Al-Muzammil and Surah Al-‘Asr, based on the interpretation of Imam Al-Ṭtabari in Jāmi‘ al-Bayān fī Ta’wīl al-Qur’ān, and its relevance to the formation of an independent and productive Islamic character. A qualitative approach was employed using the library research method, focusing on the analysis of Qur’anic texts and classical tafsir. The findings indicate that Surah Al-Muzammil emphasizes spiritual discipline through the command of qiyām al-lail (night prayer), which trains time awareness, self-control, and worship consistency. Meanwhile, Surah Al-‘Asr highlights the importance of time management in social life by promoting righteous deeds, patience, and mutual encouragement in goodness as criteria for those not among the losers. The study identifies a thematic continuity between the two surahs: one shapes the individual through internal spiritual discipline, while the other guides constructive social behavior. Thus, this research affirms that time discipline in the Qur’an is a comprehensive value that encompasses both inner and social dimensions. These findings are expected to contribute theoretically to the development of Qur’an-based character education, particularly in shaping responsible, independent, and action-oriented Muslim individuals.

Abstract

This article critically examines the concept of Qur'anic feminism through the lens of Riffat Hasan's views on gender equality. The discussion focuses on three key areas: first, Hasan's methodological approach to interpreting verses related to feminism; second, examples of his interpretation of these verses; and third, a critique of his interpretive methodology. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach rooted in library research, this study draws on various texts, manuscripts, and literature relevant to the topic. The findings reveal that: (1) Riffat Hasan adopts an empirical and idea-normative approach to interpret verses, aiming to challenge conventional readings; (2) Hasan's interpretation of the term Qawwamun in Surah al-Nisa' 4:34 suggests that the role of financial provider is not limited to men, thereby promoting a more equitable view of gender roles; and (3) Hasan’s interpretations have been critiqued for a lack of traditional exegetical training, leading his approach to sometimes be seen as overly textual and lacking depth in interpretive method. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on gender equality within Islamic thought by analyzing Hasan’s work and its implications for modern interpretations of gender roles in the Qur'an.

Abstract

This study evaluates the accountability of the Nikah Management Information System (SIMKAH) in the implementation of the Marriage Law at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research assesses the role of SIMKAH in improving the efficiency, accuracy and transparency of marriage administration. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Analysis was conducted thematically, through four main stages: data reduction, coding, theme grouping, and thematic description to identify patterns relating to SIMKAH accountability. The results showed that SIMKAH strengthens KUA accountability by speeding up the recording process, reducing errors, and improving access to information for related parties. However, some constraints such as limited technological infrastructure and lack of user understanding are still a challenge. This study recommends increased training for staff and strengthening technological infrastructure to optimise SIMKAH implementation. The findings provide important insights for the government in developing a more accountable and transparent marriage administration system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper examines the concept of tawhid as the fundamental principle in understanding the prohibition against worshipping created beings, based on the perspective of Shaykh Ibn Baz. The study aims to explain how tawhid al-uluhiyyah (the oneness of divinity in worship) confines all forms of devotion exclusively to Allah while rejecting any form of veneration directed toward prophets, angels, saints, or other creatures. Employing a qualitative, library-based research design through a content analysis approach, this study investigates selected Qur’anic verses, authentic hadiths, and the writings of Shaykh Ibn Baz to identify the patterns of reasoning and theological foundations underlying his thought. The analysis reveals that Ibn Baz consistently emphasizes tawhid al-uluhiyyah as the primary safeguard against various forms of contemporary polytheism, including the deification of individuals and the redirection of supplications to entities other than Allah. The findings indicate that approximately seventy percent of Ibn Baz’s arguments focus on the purification of worship and the prevention of tawhid distortion within modern social contexts. This study concludes that Ibn Baz’s thought not only reinforces the Qur’anic message of purifying worship but also provides a relevant theological paradigm for addressing modern phenomena that may obscure the oneness of Allah.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the phenomenon of bullying in schools from an educational psychology perspective using the library research method. This study reviews various scientific sources, such as journals, books, and research reports, to understand the forms, causes, characteristics of perpetrators and victims, impacts, and strategies for preventing bullying in educational settings. The results of the study show that bullying includes physical, verbal, social, and cyber forms that are repetitive and accompanied by an imbalance of power. The contributing factors include individual aspects, such as low empathy and self-control, as well as environmental factors, such as parenting patterns and school culture. Perpetrators generally exhibit dominant and aggressive traits, while victims tend to be passive and have low self-esteem. The impacts include psychological distress, decreased academic performance, and the risk of antisocial behavior. Effective strategies to address bullying include a whole-school approach, character education, and social-emotional learning. This study emphasizes that bullying is not only an individual behavioral problem but also a reflection of the weakness of the education system in creating a safe and empathetic learning environment.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of communication and learning between local and international students in a multicultural classroom at UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan. The research was conducted to understand how linguistic differences, cultural background, and classroom interaction patterns shape learning experiences in an Islamic higher education context. Using a qualitative educational ethnography design, data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with both local and international students who interacted intensively in the same class. The findings reveal that language is the primary factor influencing comprehension and participation, with international students experiencing significant challenges when Indonesian is used as the medium of instruction. Despite these barriers, communication remains effective through bilingual discussions, clarification strategies, and peer support. The class environment, characterized by open discussions, presentations, and supportive responses from lecturers and peers, fosters a sense of inclusion for all students. The study concludes that communication dynamics in this multicultural classroom operate positively, as students adopt adaptive linguistic strategies and collaborative learning practices that enable them to overcome cultural and linguistic differences. These dynamics generate an inclusive learning environment that benefits both local and international students.

Abstract

In recent years, social media has become an important arena for expressing religious identity, including the emergence of digital Sufism among urban Muslims. This study examines how urban Sufism is represented in digital media that blends Sufi values with elements of popular culture, addressing the limited scholarly attention toward its role in shaping contemporary religious identity. This qualitative research employs content analysis and library study, drawing data from YouTube and Instagram. The analysis is guided by Stuart Hall’s theory of representation and Charles Taylor’s theory of identity. The findings show that digital representations of urban Sufism function not only as a medium of da‘wah but also as a dynamic space where pious identity is negotiated and socially validated through online engagement. These representations illustrate how Islamic spirituality adapts to urban lifestyles while interacting with global popular culture. However, the phenomenon also raises concerns such as spiritual simplification, authority fragmentation, and the commodification of religiosity. The study concludes that maintaining authenticity and spiritual depth is crucial for content creators and preachers in utilizing digital platforms for inclusive da‘wah.
