Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is an e-journal published by Universitas Tidar. The research article submitted to this online journal will be peer-reviewed at least 2 (two) reviewers. Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through initial review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to peer reviewer (Mitra Bestari) and will go to the next selection by the double-blind review process. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors to revise. These processes take a month for a maximum time. In each manuscript, peer reviewer will be rated from the substantial and technical aspects. Final decision of articles acceptance will be made by editors according to reviewers comments. Peer reviewer that collaboration with Transformatika: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajarannya is the experts in the linguistics, literature, and their teaching area and issues around it. They were experienced in the prestigious journal management and publication that was spread around the nation and abroad.

Abstract

This study is inspired by the use of Instagram as social media that is liked by Indonesian people. From 265, 4 million Indonesian people in 2018, 120 million people are users of social media. Fifty-three million out of 120 million people are the active users of Instagram in Indonesia. Instead of uploading the daily photos, Indonesian people are fond of posting jokes as the representative of social life. Those jokes use language as the primary medium. The use of words utilizes polysemy and homonymy for showing double meaning, so it represents jokes. This qualitative study uses the data of humorous postings on Instagram. After analyzing the data, it is found that the dominant aspects are polysemy and homonymy. Polysemy is shown by the transfer of meaning, the use of terms, and metaphor. Homonymy is viewed by the usage of language tendency, the use of names or titles, the abbreviation, and the divergence of meaning.

Abstract

This research is aimed to improve students' motivation and learning outcomes. The action used in improving the two things is the learning process with STAD technique. This study uses three stages: Pre Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, each cycle using two meetings. Research data were obtained from a student questionnaire and test with multiple choice questions. Questionnaire to know the development of learning motivation, while the test with multiple choice questions to know the development of learning outcomes. The research data is analyzed descriptively-qualitative. The results of the study explain that the implementation of learning with STAD techniques can improve student's motivation and achievement. Learning motivation in Pre Cycle obtained an average of 23.47 (medium category). While in Cycle I the average learning motivation increased to 26.57 (medium category). Percentage of students achieved high category score of 4 students (13%). Furthermore, in cycle II the average learning motivation of 33.87 (high category). Percentage of students obtained a great and very high category score of 22 students (73.3%). Thus until the end of Cycle II, learning motivation has increased. While the results of learning on the Precycle obtained an average of 61.93 (enough category), in the first cycle increased to 69.53 (enough class), in Cycle II obtained an average of 78.77 (right type). Furthermore, it is known that the percentage of learning mastery in the Pre Cycle of 3%, Cycle I of 31%, then in cycle II the rate of learning mastery increased to 86.66%. Thus until the end of Cycle II, student learning outcomes have increased. Based on the above data can be concluded that the implementation of learning STAD technique can improve learning motivation and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the learning implementation process of folklore rewriting competency through storyline puzzles. The puzzles were based on two folklore movies for improving the skill in revising folklore and also for behavioral enhancement of first Semester students in this case the VIIE class student in the academic year of 2015/2016, through this hopefully there will be a significant behavioral change in the student's personality. This research was conducted using the action research method by Kemmis and Taggart designing for two cycles. The steps in each cycle consist of (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class VIIE of SMP Negeri 3 Ambarawa first semester in the academic year of 2015/2016. The technique used was the folklore-based storyline puzzle. Data collection tools used in this study were the performance instruments for folklore rewriting, student behavior observation sheets, student notes, observer notes, teacher and observer’s reflection sheets, and digital cameras to document the learning process. The Validated data consisted of learning outcome data (results of rewriting the folklore and daily quiz) and learning process data (teaching activities and the changes in students' behavior). Based on the results of the study and discussion, it can be concluded that learning activity through folklore-based storyline puzzles can improve the learning outcome of writing folklore, improving the students’ personality, and improving the process of implementing better learning, especially students of class VIIE SMP Negeri 3 Ambarawa first semester in the academic year of 2015/2016.

Abstract

Writing poetry learning is a productive learning activity. Based on the results of interviewing teachers, there are problems in writing poetry learning at Vocational High School 1 Sukoharjo, which is difficult for the students to determine the themes, the use of diction and the less different metaphors, and the mismatch of the message with the contents of the poem. Besides, the students' motivation in following the lesson is still low. This study aims to improve learning motivation and writing skills with audiovisual media. This research is class action research that is held two-cycle. Each cycle consists of action planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data research sources are through learning activity, informan, and documents. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and test. The validity of data was investigated through triangulation techniques of data sources and methods. The data analysis technique used in this research are comparative descriptive techniques and critical analysis technique. The results showed that the use of audiovisual media could increase learning motivation by 5.71% in pre-action, 61,76% in the first cycle, and 97,14% in the second cycle. The use of audiovisual media can also improve students' poetry writing skills by 17% in pre-action, 66% in the first cycle, and 91% in the second cycle.

Abstract

This Novel Jakarta Sebelum Pagi by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie examines stories of love nuances which also contain socio-cultural elements in the modern era with a comparison of past stories to support the moral values presented. This study aims to examine abstract symbols so that multiple interpretations are made art connoisseurs. The author uses a type of qualitative research with a content analysis approach. Data was collected by grouping quotations between conversations between Abel's figure and other figures who shared similarity with symbolism in communication semiotics, namely symbolism of loyalty, trust, caring and habit. The results of the study which showed the discovery of four symbolism is as follows. First, the symbol of commitment is demonstrated by the blue Hyacinth flower that the character always brings to his lover. Second, trust is shown by pigs which are believed to have high ability to capture and intelligence, so that a symbol of a pig represents the character of Nissa (someone who can be trusted). Third, the concern is shown by grunts and growls by figures who cannot communicate using the five senses. Fourth, the custom symbol is illustrated by smoked pigs which are already polluted pollution in the city of Jakarta every day. The four symbols can be found in the discussion of imaginary novels.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the value of character education responsibilities contained in the novel Maria Zaitun by Joko Santoso. This research is qualitative research with a content analysis approach. The technique of collecting data uses reading techniques and note-taking techniques. Data analysis uses concepts from Miles & Huberman with the first step of data reduction, including selecting data, summarizing, and making the classification. The second presentation of the data has been srted according to the formulation and objectives of the study, and the thrid is the conclusion. The novel Maria Zaitun tells about the life of a female character who cannot escape her immorality in overcoming life’s problems, thus making her suffer and get hurt. Maria olives’ rejection and living poverty give her the strength to be able to go through every suffering and test that God gives. Based on this, the results of research conducted by researchers indicate that the value of character education responsibility is divided into (1) responsibility to God, (2) social responsibility, and (3) responsibility to oneself.

Abstract

This research is aimed to (1) identify the noun phrases of the endangered traditional farming tools, (2) explain the values of local wisdom which are reflected in traditional farming tools in Java, and (3) explain the efforts that can be done to conserve the noun phrases of the endangered traditional farming tools in Java. The research data consist of many kinds of noun phrases of traditional farming tools in Java in every speech act by the traditional farmer from Javanese ethnic that is gotten from the interview and observation in Magelang district and Sleman district. The verbal data were collected with an observation method. The result of this research showed that 46.3% respondent knew any number of noun phrases in the questionnaire. In reverse, 53.7% respondent did not know any number of noun phrases in the questionnaire. The local wisdom found in this research were the meanings from the noun phrases of traditional farming tools in Java. The meanings have certain values of local wisdom with the beneficial aims for human life.  Furthermore, the efforts that can be done to conserve traditional farming tools in Java are (1) exposing this research in a form of article and journal about traditional farming tools, (2) socializing traditional farming tools in Java through explaining and showing pictures to respondents who have filled the questionnaire. This socialisation is done by giving pictures of traditional farming tools in Java and explaining about the function.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the group investigation learning model that contained conservation values in writing learning and character development of UNNES FBS students. This learning model was chosen because it is one of the social interaction learning models that require students to have the ability to interact with their conservation environment and work together in groups in synergy. The ultimate goal of this experimental research is to find the effectiveness of the development products produced in previous studies, namely the group investigation learning model containing conservation values to improve writing skills and instill/ develop character values of FBS UNNES students. The approach applied in this study is quasi-experiment with pretest-posttest design, non-equivalent control group design. Determination of research samples using purposive samples. Respondents of this study were students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program FBS UNNES in semester one. Data collection uses to test and non-test instruments — analysis of research data using validity test, reliability test, homogeneity test, and t-test.

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate students' motivation and their learning achievement in writing exposition texts. To seek the answer, we used discokaku teaching method and pictorial series. This study was carried out under classroom action research. We implemented three main stages of pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II, each cycle using three meetings. The participants were 10th graders of SMA Negeri 5 Magelang. The data were attained from test and non-test techniques. The test technique deployed (1) Kahoot! for assessing their understanding and (2) pictorial series for the writing test. For the non-test, this study adopted some qualitative instruments: journal, observation, interview, and documentation. The result shows that discokaku teaching method and pictorial series were able to improve students’ motivation from 23.47% to 33.87% and their achievement from 3.13% to 78.13% at the end of the cycle 2.
