Abstract

The research looked at the role of religious and citizenship educations acquired during high school in improving the characters in particular tough, competitive, and dynamic. The study was conducted on 100 freshmen at Binus University based on their perceptions of Religious and Citizenship education that they acquired during High School in improving tough, competitive, and dynamic characters. The results showed that they have all three characters, but the intensity is not strong and there was no signiicant relationship between perceptions of the two subjects with the characters. This suggests that student’s characters, tough, competitive and dynamic, are not based on whether they perceive the two subjects as pleasant or unpleasant. The formation of the characters in particular, tough, competitive and dynamic characters, can develop due to the circumstances of the school as a whole and not speciically through the subjects of Religious and Citizenship Educations.

Abstract

On March 15, 2011, a bomb glued to a book and received by 68H News Agency (68H) exploded, causing severe injury to a police oficer on duty. Yet the journalists resumed work, advocated their stance for freedom of expression and continued broadcasting. Resilience, a successful adaptation to adversity to “bounce back” is shown in this incident by 68H journalists and is relevant to any journalists working in Indonesia as one of the ive deadliest countries in 2010 according to Committee to Protect Journalists. Using semi-structured interview and ‘resilience-as-a-process’ perspective, this research describes how 68H journalists undergo their process, what occurs as they become resilient, resources they utilize, and consequent changes in their ability to maintain their resilience in the future. Results show that regrouping and capacity building are pivotal in the stages of their resilience process. It concludes that collective identity and leadership, in perceiving ‘us’ versus ‘them’ and in promoting values important to them, as well as social supports and shared experiences of past successes, are main resources of their resilience. Lessons learned from their error of judgement of threat assessment leads to changed attitude and security reinforcement that contribute to their future resilience.

Abstract

Every human is a problem solver. Humans always have to deal with different kinds of problems that needs to be resolved. We have our own way to solve our problem even if they face the same one. This is because humans have different cognitive style. How a person sees and solves his/her problems shows their cognitive style. The way we solve a problem is also can be an indicator of how creative a person is. Kirton’s Adaption-Innovation (KAI) Inventory was created to measure creativity style. This research was dedicated to adapt into Indonesian version of KAI Inventory. We used convenience sampling method and got 164 participants. We did measurement model for the conirmatory factor analysis. Then the psychometric tests have been done to ensure its reliability and validity. Based on the results of Inter-item Correlation, Correlation With Another Tests method, and Factor Analysis showed that Indonesian version of KAI Inventory was reliable but still needs some revision on its items to increase its validity.
