Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge with a significant impact on the agricultural sector, including tobacco cultivation in Sumedang Regency, particularly in Tanjungsari District. This area is known as a center for the production of mole tobacco, known for its distinctive qualities. This study aims to: (1) describe farmers' adaptation strategies to climate change, and (2) analyze the influence of social, economic, and risk perception variables on mitigation decisions. The methods used were descriptive analysis and linear regression. The results indicate that the adaptation strategies implemented include weeding, fertilization, fungicide spraying, delayed planting, and intercropping. The regression analysis indicates that farmer income has a significant effect at the 5% confidence level, and land area at the 10% level. This means that increased income can increase farmers' willingness to undertake mitigation. Meanwhile, education, age, and risk perception do not significantly influence adaptation decisions. This study emphasizes the importance of economic support to increase farmers' adaptive capacity.

Abstract

National or regional food security does not necessarily guarantee food security at the household or individual level. Although Jember Regency was classified as a highly food-secure region in 2024 based on Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas (FSVA) data, the reality of household-level food security urgently needs to be addressed. The objective of this research was to analyze household food security conditions based on Engel's Law and Jonsson & Toole's theory. Data from Susenas 2024, analyzed using the Jonsson and Toole method, revealed that the majority of households in Jember still face food vulnerability. Specifically, only about 35.49% (427 households) fell into the food-secure category. Conversely, nearly half, 49.34% (597 households), were in the food- vulnerable category. Additionally, approximately 7.60% (92 households) experienced food scarcity, and 7.77% (94 households) were in a state of food insecurity.

Abstract

Phonska fertilizer production at PT Petrokimia Gresik has fluctuated and often failed to meet production targets. This study aims to analyze priority risk sources and analyze effective mitigation strategies to address production risks at PT Petrokimia Gresik. The research location was determined purposively, considering that it is an agro-industrial company with high production capacity. The research was conducted in October-November 2025. The method used in this study was the case study research method. The key persons in this study were determined using the purposive method, and they were production staff. Data collection techniques included observation and interviews. The analysis in this study was conducted using the Coefficient of Variation and HoR (House of Risk) methods. The results of the study indicate a medium level of risk with a CV value of 9%. In addition, the results of HoR phase 1 obtained 22 risk events and 25 risk sources. Fourteen risk sources were identified as priority risks that require the design of a risk management strategy. The results in HoR 2 show 10 management strategies that can be implemented by the company in handling priority risk sources. The risk management strategies are based on the highest to lowest ETD values in sequence, namely cross-checking mechanisms, production rescheduling, team coordination, incoming raw material control, technical skills training, replacement of damaged machine parts, safety stock planning, preventive maintenance, temperature monitoring, and the use of magnetic separators.

Abstract

The growing number of cut chrysanthemum farmers in Bandungan District has intensified competition in the flower market. This study investigates 1) to identify the characteristics of consumers who purchase cut chrysanthemums at Bandungan Flower Market  2) the influence of product quality, service quality, income, price, and consumer preferences on purchasing decisions for cut chrysanthemums at Bandungan Flower Market, Semarang Regency. A survey was conducted in March–April 2025 involving 120 respondents, selected through accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression with SPSS 25. The results indicate that most consumers are female, aged 21–30 years, with senior high school education, an income range of IDR 2,234,953–3,435,464, and a purchasing frequency of twice. The model fit test yielded a chi-square value of 1.403 and a Nagelkerke R square of 0.833, suggesting a strong explanatory power of the model. The omnibus test showed a chi-square value of 84.048, confirming that the examined factors jointly affect purchasing decisions. Further analysis using the Wald test revealed that product quality, consumer preferences, price, and income significantly influence purchasing decisions, whereas service quality has no significant effect. These findings highlight the importance of improving product attributes and aligning with consumer preferences to enhance competitiveness in the cut chrysanthemum market.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology have driven changes in student consumption patterns, particularly through the use of e-wallets and e-commerce as the primary means of transaction. The ease of access, speed of processing, and variety of promotions have made digital platforms an important part of consumption activities, including purchases that are not always based on actual needs. This situation has given rise to a tendency toward consumerism among students. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of e-wallets and e-commerce and the level of consumerism among students in the purchase of food and non-food products. The approach used is quantitative, with descriptive analysis to map the characteristics of respondents and Spearman's Rho correlation test to measure the relationship between variables. Data was collected through a questionnaire administered to active users of digital platforms. The results show that the majority of respondents have a high frequency of using e-wallets and e-commerce, with ready-to-eat food and personal care products being the dominant categories. The correlation test shows a relationship between the use of digital platforms and the level of consumerism among students. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening financial and digital literacy to encourage more rational and sustainable consumption behavior among students.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture plays a crucial role in improving food security by efficiently and environmentally friendly means of meeting food needs. In Indonesia, rice is a vital staple food source and source of livelihood for the majority of rural residents. However, conventional agricultural practices, which rely heavily on chemical fertilizers, synthetic pesticides, and excessive land exploitation, have led to various environmental and social problems. Consequently, farmers' understanding and perceptions of the concept of sustainable agriculture remain largely unknown. This study aims to determine rice farmers' perceptions of sustainable agriculture through the application of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and to identify factors influencing their perceptions. The study was conducted in Rukam Village, Mendo Barat District, from September to November 2025. A survey method was used, with 30 rice farmers as respondents, using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively to determine farmers' perceptions, and quantitatively using multiple linear regression to analyze factors influencing farmers' perceptions. The analysis showed that farmers' perceptions of GAP implementation in lowland rice were categorized as very good, with a percentage of 81.88%, covering economic, social, and technical aspects. The results of multiple linear regression are Y = 12.814746 – 0.331873 X1 – 0.407773 X2 + 0.527081 X3 + 0.340421 X4. The variables of education and extension workers have a significant effect on farmers' perceptions in the implementation of GAP for rice commodities, while the variables of farming experience and cultivation techniques do not have a significant effect on farmers' perceptions in the implementation of GAP for rice commodities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the income and feasibility of rice farming in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) region, Malaysia. The data used is secondary data obtained from MADA annual reports, publications of the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture, and related scientific literature. The analytical methods employed include income analysis, revenue-to-cost ratio (R/C ratio), and break-even point (BEP) analysis. The results indicate that rice farming in MADA generates relatively high revenues with positive net income after deducting production costs. The R/C ratio was found to be greater than one, signifying that rice farming is economically feasible. Moreover, the BEP analysis reveals that both production volume of 4.167 kg/ha and selling price of rice of RM 1,03/kg have surpassed the break-even point, further confirming the feasibility of the enterprise. Therefore, rice farming in the MADA area can be considered efficient and has strong prospects for future development.

Abstract

Group dynamics are an essential factor in determining the effectiveness and sustainability of farmer group activities. This study was conducted on the Subur Tani 1 Group in Sukasari Village, Sukasari District, Sumedang Regency. Respondents were purposively selected, consisting of all 23 group members. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study strategy, combined with Likert scale analysis of nine elements of group dynamics: group objectives, group structure, task functions, group development and maintenance, cohesiveness, group atmosphere, group pressure, group effectiveness, and hidden agendas. The findings show that Subur Tani 1 is categorized as dynamic, with a score of 2,741 equal to 96.82%. Group atmosphere and group pressure achieved perfect scores, reflecting strong internal conditions. The main strengths include cohesiveness, effective leadership, organizational structure, and open communication. Despite challenges such as limited land, fertilizer, and labor, the group successfully cultivated tobacco three times a year. These results emphasize that strong group dynamics strengthen solidarity and ensure the sustainability of farming activities.
