Abstract

Poda na lima are five pieces of advice that are firmly held as the foundation of the Angkola-Mandailing community. This advice includes local wisdom that underlies the social order and contains educational value regarding efforts to cleanse the heart, soul, mind, body, and environment. This study aims to analyze the value of education and the community's social structure based on local wisdom. The focus of the local wisdom studied is Poda na Lima in the Angkola-Mandailing community. This research approach uses a qualitative type of literature study method. Sources of data and analysis materials for research studies use scientific literature obtained from credible websites (Sinta, DOAJ, Scient Direct, Routledge/Tandfonline, Scimago JR). The scientific literature in question includes; articles, proceedings, books, and final student assignments (thesis, theses, dissertations) relevant to the research theme. The results of this study indicate that poda na lima has an extension as a philosophy in the life of the Angkola-Mandailing community. This local wisdom contains an educational value (education for children) in social arrangements based on the purity of intention, physical cleanliness, and public order. The five pieces of advice in local wisdom include paias rohamu (heart/soul), Pematangmu (physical), parabitonmu (clothing), bagasmu (house), and pakaranganmu (environment).

Abstract

Discussion about the integration between science and religion is no longer a new topic, but nowadays it is being raised again. Many researchers believe that both of them are independent entities, but many researchers also argue that there is potential for combining the two. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge and skills as well as the perception of teachers on how to integrate science and religion. This qualitative study was conducted in Bengkalis Regency. Thirty-one in-service teachers from four different junior high schools were recruited as the participants of this study. The data were collected by administering open ended questionnaires and interviews to the participants. To analyze the data, the researcher used the three stages in qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data verification, and data display. The findings reported that teachers’ competence on the integration of science and religion is quite good and comprehensive because they were able to explain the importance of this integration and how to implement the combination of the two in their own area of teaching subjects, even develop the teaching materials as the implication for the practice in junior high school contexts. However, the findings also indicated the drawbacks of some teachers who found the difficulties in applying the science-religion integration in the subjects due to several reasons. In conclusion, combining science and religion is not an impossible action as long as teachers have a strong belief, wide knowledge, and a harmonious view between the two, also the ability to apply it. Therefore, equipping teachers with knowledge and skills through particular training is really crucial.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess students' awareness of mathematics education in light of independent learning-independent campuses (ILIC). The phases of the survey research technique were used to conduct this research, and a questionnaire was used as the instrument for gathering data. All of the students studying mathematics at the private university served as the participants of the study. Winsteps and Rasch's model were used to examine the questionnaire data. The results from the Rasch model's processing are then analyzed based on the researcher's objectives. Findings: According to this study, 60.73 percent of students had a high level of awareness of the ILIC. 7.69 percent of students exhibited a low level of awareness of the ILIC, while 31.58 percent of students were still unaware of its existence. In conclusion, students' awareness of ILIC, which is run by the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of education, culture, science, and technology, has to be improved.

Abstract

This article examines the efficiency of the education system and measures the effectiveness of public and private senior high schools in the city of Bandung. The samples for this study are 20 high schools in Bandung comprising 10 private schools and 10 public schools. A quantitative approach was utilized as the research design. The analytical tools used are multiple linear regression and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results showed that private high schools were more efficient than public high schools in Bandung with an average efficiency rate of 91.49%. The achievements of high school students in the city of Bandung are influenced by the number of teachers, number of staff, number of students, school expenses, and graduate teachers, while the teacher's teaching experience does not affect student achievement. Our findings show that private schools are more efficient than public schools. Meanwhile, the amount of the cost of attending private schools is higher, and they tend to serve a smaller, more affluent population. These results highlight the need for policymakers to consider the trade-off between efficiency and equity when making educational funding and resource allocation decisions.

This research discussed language politeness education in two languages (Indonesian and Japanese) using a comparative qualitative case study in library research. The results of the study informed that Indonesian and Japanese are two languages that implement language politeness through both verbal and non-verbal languages. Verbal language is shown by the chosen polite words, while non-verbal language is shown by the speaking body gestures.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to both produce products of teaching materials of Learning Economic Models and find their effects towards students’ cognitive achievement. Dick and Carey’s model was used for the concept of the development model. Formative tests were used to measure the effectiveness of teaching materials-and they were used to test one evaluation, small group evaluation, and field trial. The data collected was analyzed through mean, standard deviation, and z-test statistics. The research showed the products of teaching materials, with all being covered from Chapter 1 through Chapter 8 in order: 1) the theory of teaching and learning, 2) the basic concept learning models, 3) science-based learning models, 4) innovative learning models, 5) cooperative and collaborative learning models, 6) a model of problem-based learning, 7) contextual-based learning models, and 8) integrated learning models. The findings revealed that students with the teaching materials performed better than those without. The null hypothesis was tested at a 0.05 level of significance, indicating a significant difference between the cognitive achievement scores of those taught with the teaching materials and those taught without.

Abstract

Online or offline learning has an impact on students who are continuing their education. The purpose of this study was to look at the learning process conducted online and the impact it had. The research uses a systematic literature review method. The data collection analyzed includes 15 publication documents. Data were obtained through a database of dimensions in 2019–2023. In data collection, limitations are made, and then the analysis step uses the NVivo software to obtain a more accurate theme point. Results obtained through in vivo analysis include brain capabilities for strategically and effectively understanding visual priming, most notably requiring tissue to access everything. Teaching ethics in business can thus develop learning systems management, be able to detect cheating activities, integrate culture-based character education, promote high-level thinking skills, and provide new energy. Meanwhile, the impact of moving from offline to online is hybrid learning, shifting learning methods, creative problem-solving-flipped classroom vocational education, and transition.
