Abstract

FoMO is often used to test behavioural tendencies, individuals who tend to be more involved, encourage individual behaviour caused by fear, anxiety that arises in it, especially for the millennial group. Currently, the commercial industry has also succeeded in exploiting FoMO-based concepts in marketing and advertising approaches, including involving consumers in disseminating product information to the public. Previous research revealed that there is a significant influence on how FoMO can influence consumer behaviour on online shopping considerations, showing a relationship between FoMO on social media and the tendency to spread word-of-mouth in the online realm (eWOM). This study uses an approach with an interview method to get views from the experiences of social media users actively using the Marketplace platform in online shopping needs regarding the relationship between FoMO, eWOM and online shopping considerations on Marketplace from both the recipient and the sender of eWOM messages. All informants stated that FoMO and eWOM on social media have a tendency to encourage active responses to find out, share information with those closest to them so that they can determine shopping considerations both for merchants or Marketplaces.

Abstract

Industrial era 4.0 shows that all human activities will be connected and dominated by digital media. Creativity and new ideas to innovate technology are the keys of this era. For example in the music industry 4.0, which develops music streaming technology products, trying to attract a lot of millennials generation. In the context of Indonesia, Langit Musik as a local product competes with Spotify as an international product. Therefore, through this literature review-based research and interview with some of the participants in Whatsapp phone call, researchers want to see what kind of music streaming platform in the industrial era 4.0 make many peoples interested, especially the millennials generation in Indonesia. The results show that the use of Spotify in Indonesia is still more popular than Langit Musik, because for most of the Indonesian millennial generation Spotify is already suitable for the music streaming criteria they want. These include a diverse and global selection of songs, from old songs to the latest songs that are always up-to-date, have a simple and eye-catching display, easy to use, clear sound quality, have lyrics for karaoke, integrated with social media for status updates, have playlist personalisation feature, and no need to use large mobile data internet quota. However, Spotify and Langit Musik are still not able to attract their customers to switch from free to premium services, due to different needs and there are people who are still comfortable downloading songs illegally even though they already had music streaming. Spotify has become more popular than Langit Musik because of consumer trust in its quality, besides that personal promotion by word-of-mouth from the closest people and status updates on social media, which also support the expansion of Spotify's popularity.

Abstract

Private higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines have been in turmoil due to three major occurrences: the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017, and the Coronavirus Disease. These contributed to the abating tertiary enrolment. One scheme for enduring the ordeal is the application of budgetary cuts. Competing in a scarcer market with financial constraints is an arduous task for marketing. The paper aimed to identify the most effective platform blend among numerous communication platforms employed in the industry by recognising the importance of integrated marketing communications (IMC) and maximising HEIs' return on marketing investments. About 380 students, parents, and administrators from five private HEIs in the National Capital Region offering Senior High School programs participated as survey respondents or interviewees. The paper utilised mixed methods, various statistical tools, and variance analyses. Among the twenty marketing communication platforms, the most efficient (efficiency rating>3.736) are referrals/word-of-mouth marketing, free entrance examination, website, scholarships/discounts, and social media. In contrast, in the lower quartile (efficiency rating<3.262) are billboards, television/radio/print ads, souvenir items, sending direct messages to prospective students, and newspaper articles. To some extent, the HEIs implementation level of the various platforms is aligned with communication platforms' efficiency ratings. Further, the study ascertained differences in the preference and reached ratings according to respondents' profiles. Finally, an Efficient, Coherent, and Dynamic (ECD)-IMC model was crafted to help HEI administrators/marketers improve their enrolment with the least possible costs and to provide reference to future researchers.

Abstract

One of the key strategies for tourism and hospitality recovery post-Covid-19 is communicating the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) policy. CHSE policy ensures that tourism actors and tourists conduct a new tourism culture that coalesced with the global pandemic. Therefore, the current study offers a study case reviewing the communication of CHSE policy in Bromo Tengger Semeru (BTS) tourist areas. BTS is designated as one of the Indonesian government's national tourism strategic areas or New Bali with priority status. We reviewed published tourism and hospitality literature pandemic-related articles to meet our research objectives and conducted in-depth interviews with BTS community leaders. Based on the results, we identified that the communication of CHSE policy in the BTS area applies an ideation communication strategy, emphasising instructional, directional, and non-directional communication patterns. These communication patterns are implemented through the three categories of policy instruments that consider the people's cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of the BTS.

So far, the development of tourism in Borobudur depends on The Borobudur Temple as a tourist destination. Meanwhile, sustainable tourism, can’t only promote destinations, but also the strengthening of environmental sustainability, local wisdom, and sustainable economy. This study aims to explain the development of creative tourism through the model of storynomics tourism in Borobudur. The concept used in this research include creative tourism, storytelling in marketing communication, and storynomics tourism model. This research applies both quantitative and qualitative approach. Data collection was done through a survey, FGD, and interview. The result show that there are at least five sources of tourism creativity in Borobudur, namely creativity in nature, arts/craft, spirituality, gastronomy, and language. The creativity comes from collaboration between government, local communities, tourism service provider, and the tourism themselves. The development of creative tourism is done with the formation of cultural narrative that originates from culture, history, and relief of Borobudur Temple into story of economic value (storynomics). Abstract

The central government and local governments conducted a series of health communication efforts to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there is still a behaviour of rejection in the community that is published in the news in mass media, including online media. In public health, including health communication programs, especially in the health belief model, a person’s behaviour to follow or refuse can be influenced by health beliefs. Uncertainty can be an obstacle to behaviour. From a multicultural perspective, beliefs are one of the things that affect public health behaviour. This study tried to uncover the barriers to Covid-19 health communication in multicultural communities in Indonesia using online news content analysis methods on the five most popular news websites in Indonesia, namely okezone.com, tribunnews.com, pikiran-rakyat.com, kompas.com, and detik.com. The results revealed that the top five barriers to health communication were religion (17.2%), survival (12.67%), beliefs that Covid-19 does not exist (9.9%), self-immunity confidence (9.9%), and stigma (9.9%).

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the function of social media as digital tourism branding carried out by Thailand and Malaysia after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods with the help of the Nvivo 12 Plus application in processing the data. This study uses data from official Twitter social media accounts in Thailand and Malaysia. The results of this study indicate that the analysis of the Twitter conversations of the two accounts shows that the tweets and retweets of @AmazingThailand and @TourismMalaysia are mostly still focused on accounts from their respective domestic regions. The digital tourism branding, which is analysed using marketing communication theory, shows that Thailand and Malaysia have proactive efforts in planning indicators, creation, integration, and marketing strategies. Overall the digital tourism branding efforts carried out by Thailand and Malaysia are quite optimal.

Abstract

Censorship, in all its forms, has always been a means by which freedom is being checked and regulated. In hindsight, for the state and its people, censorship must always be exercised with caution to avoid suppression of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of the press. Moreover, freedom of the press is crucial in times of crisis, as in the case of a global pandemic named COVID-19. The Philippines, regarded as the world's texting capital and one of the widest in social media use, feel the convenience of getting the news right at the fingertips, apart from avoiding physical contact in compliance with health protocols. The study zeroes in on Cebu City, regarded as one of the country's largest voting populations and a newsmaker in terms of its policies vis-a-vis the pandemic. It delves into the juxtaposition of press freedom and censorship in Cebu City against the backdrop of the pandemic. This study is anchored on Bunn’s New Censorship Theory, Scammel’s foundations on the Index of Censorship, and the ever-developing Libertarian Theory. Further, it employed the Colaizzi method to explore the experiences of Cebu-based media practitioners and media institutions. In this vein, press freedom and censorship are not mutually exclusive. The presence of one does not preclude the other; they can actually co-exist. The exercise of press freedom very well depends on the personal values of the media practitioners and institutions.

Abstract

The Shinkansen is the fastest bullet train in Japan. Shinkansen greatly improve the tourism economy in some cities in Japan. Shinkansen is extremely handy for foreign visitors and reduces the cost of visiting numerous places in Japan. As is known, MRT in Jakarta is one of the collaborative projects between Japan and Indonesia. Indonesia also has a 'semi-fast' train that travels between Jakarta and Surabaya at 140-145 km/hour. Learning from the Shinkansen in Japan, the Indonesian Semi-High-Speed Train also has the potential to increase the tourism sites in Indonesia with the help of a 'push and pull strategy.' This case study used interviews and literature reviews for data collection. In this study, after data was collected, it was used to analyse the mode of transportation for tourism destinations and the marketing strategy that can be used for this research. The result of this study is that Indonesia can also imitate the implementation of tour packages from Japan's railway and tourism system. Shinkansen connects tourist destinations in various cities (intercity), and it is hoped that the semi-fast train built by the Indonesian government can do the same thing. Railways as tourism transport are only one thing in developing tourist destinations. The other thing is, of course, related to integrated tourism planning
