Abstract

A pile foundation is essential in providing the bearing capacity and stability of the up-structure. This study uses three dynamic formulas such as Hilley, Janbu, and Engineering New Record. The aim of the study is to find an accurate formula for bearing capacity that close the PDA test. Analyses the bearing capacity to two pile numbers of 251 and 120. Subsequently, the result of the PDA test provides the pile's bearing capacity for 251 is 85.2 tons, and for 120, it is 72.0 tons. The assessment of piles showed that the Janbu formula was more accurate than Hilley and ENR because it was nearest to the PDA test result. Therefore, the Janbu formula can be used as an alternative method if the PDA test is unavailable. Meanwhile, with the Hilley formula, the bearing capacity is lower than the PDA test, and it needs to be corrected for the safety factors. Meanwhile, the ENR formula obtains the bearing capacity as higher of Janbu and Hilley.

Abstract

Climate change has become a global issue receiving serious attention worldwide. One of its principal drivers is the increase in Greenhouse Gases (GHG), particularly carbon dioxide (CO₂). Therefore, effective spatial-planning–based mitigation strategies are required. This study aims to analyze the capacity of Green Open Space (RTH) to absorb CO₂ emissions in Lamongan Subdistrict. The methods include Sentinel-2 satellite imagery analysis using the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) approach to determine vegetation cover, combined with carbon stock calculations based on IPCC (2006) guidelines. In addition, CO₂ emissions were inventoried from the transportation sector, household energy use (LPG), electricity, and domestic solid and liquid waste using the IPCC Tier-1 approach. The results show that the total estimated CO₂ emissions in Lamongan Subdistrict reach 17.927,46 tons/year. Meanwhile, the absorption capacity of existing RTH can absorb approximately 5.686 tCO₂/year, or 32% of total emissions, leaving residual emissions unabsorbed.

Abstract

Transportation supports regional growth and improves accessibility. A more efficient new route plan is needed in City X because population and business growth are not balanced with an adequate network of routes. The minibus (Elf) is chosen because it is easy to operate and can reach local corridors. By using ArcGIS, the Geographic Information System (GIS) is used in this study to analyze the road network, settlement patterns, activity centers, and community travel needs. The results of the analysis produce alternative routes that are more efficient and aligned with the movement patterns of the residents. It is expected that these routes will improve public transportation services in City X and support sustainable transportation policies.

Abstract

Accurate rainfall data in terms of time and space is greatly needed across many sectors. This study evaluates rainfall data using information from two satellites, namely the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) and Global Satellite Measurement of Precipitation (GSMaP), employing statistical indicators such as correlation coefficient, MAE, RMSE, Mann-Whitney test, RAPS, and Weibull distribution. The comparative analysis between surface rainfall data and data from the GPM and GSMaP satellites shows a satisfactory level of agreement, proving that satellite-based rainfall measurement techniques are reliable. After correction of the rainfall data at the Air Molek Station in the Indragiri River Basin, the results indicate a perfect correlation of 1, meaning that the station's data matches very well with the satellite data and falls into the very good category. The application of the stepwise regression method to develop correction equations successfully improved the accuracy of rainfall predictions from the GPM and GSMaP satellites, as evidenced by the increase in correlation coefficient and significant decrease in error values. These findings confirm that the developed correction equations are effective in improving the agreement between satellite data and ground data, thereby making satellite data more reliable for monitoring rainfall.

Abstract

The slope stability of the Bagong Dam spillway is controlled by colluvial soils and weathered volcanic rocks containing discontinuities that may form non-circular failure surfaces. This study assesses the existing slope condition and the effectiveness of bore-pile reinforcement using Limit Equilibrium analysis in PLAXIS LE. The lateral capacity of the piles is derived from rock-mass parameters obtained through the RMR–Hoek–Brown correlation and applied as lateral resistance in the numerical model. Independent verification is performed using the Zeng Method (2002) by computing translational equilibrium between slices. The results show that the factor of safety increases from 1.141 (existing) to 1.547 after installing bore piles. The Zeng Method yields FS = 1.5564, confirming strong agreement with the numerical model. The reinforcement enhances lateral resistance and shifts the critical slip surface deeper into more competent rock

Abstract

Urban area growth has led to increased traffic volume, necessitating an evaluation of signalized intersection performance to maintain smooth transportation. This study aims to analyze the performance of the signalized intersection at Jalan Raden Panji Suroso–Jalan Sunandar Priyo Sudarmo–Jalan Laksda Adi Sucipto in Malang City, evaluate existing conditions, project traffic conditions for a 5-year planning horizon, and assess the effectiveness of intersection improvements. The method involved field surveys during morning and evening peak hours, processing traffic volume data in passenger car units (PCU), and analyzing capacity, degree of saturation, queue length, and delay according to the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023). The results show that the existing condition is at Level of Service (LOS) E with a degree of saturation (DS) of 0.87 and an average delay of 0.87 s/PCU. The 5-year projection without improvements remains at LOS E with DS 0.97. After implementing improvements, including road widening, additional traffic signs, heavy vehicle restrictions, and signal cycle optimization, the intersection performance improved to LOS C with DS 0.83–0.78 and average delay 0.73 s/PCU, indicating a more stable flow and reduced waiting time. This study provides a foundation for planning and upgrading intersections to enhance traffic performance

Abstract

Abstract

The Tenayan Raya Integrated Office Complex is the administrative center of the Pekanbaru City Government and is expected to undergo further development through the construction of new buildings and an increase in the number of employees. These changes will lead to higher trip attraction, which has the potential to affect traffic performance on Jalan Badak as the main access road. This study aims to model the magnitude of trip attraction. The dependent variable is Y (number of attracted trips), while the independent variables consist of X₁ (number of employees), X₂ (building floor area), X₃ (building site area), X₄ (parking area), X₅ (travel distance), X₆ (travel time), X₇ (floor area per employee ratio), and X₈ (employee per floor area ratio). The analytical method applied is Trip Generation using linear regression. The findings show that the number of employees (X₁) is the most influential variable affecting trip attraction. The best-fit model obtained is Y = 4.568 + 0.575X₁ with an R² value of 0.981.

Abstract

Bridges are a critical component of infrastructure, facilitating connectivity between distinct regions and necessitating robust foundational structures to endure traffic loads and environmental conditions. The Kutorejo Bridge construction project employed bored pile foundations, selected for their capacity to support substantial loads with minimal vibration during construction. This study seeks to compare the axial bearing capacity of bored pile foundations utilizing the empirical method of L. Decourt (1996) and Geo5 numerical modeling. The analysis concentrates on the axial bearing capacity of a single pile through a quantitative approach and a comparative-descriptive method. Secondary data were derived from the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results at two bore hole locations (BH-1 and BH-2), encompassing N-SPT values, soil types, and foundation dimensions. The calculation results indicated that the allowable bearing capacity calculated using the L. Decourt method was higher than the results from Geo5 modeling, with values of 3375,5 kN at BH-1 and 4019,8 kN at BH-2, compared to 2209 kN and 3163,9 kN from Geo5, respectively. This difference corresponds to an average discrepancy of 27.3%. Despite the variance in results, both methods yielded bearing capacity values exceeding the planned axial load of 1305,868 kN, thereby affirming the foundation's safety.

Abstract

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in infrastructure due to its high compressive strength and durability. However, concrete contains pores that significantly affect its permeability and compressive strength, which necessitates the use of admixtures or supplementary materials to enhance performance. To reduce water ingress, integral crystalline waterproofing admixtures can be incorporated. These admixtures penetrate the concrete matrix and form needle-like crystals within the pores, thereby improving impermeability and resistance to water penetration. This study aims to examine the effect of adding integral crystalline waterproofing admixture on the compressive strength of fly ash concrete with a target strength of f’c 35 MPa. The research focuses on a case study of the Multipurpose Building project in Surabaya, with comparisons made to fly ash concrete and conventional concrete. Cylindrical specimens measuring 150 mm × 300 mm were evaluated at curing ages of 7 and 14 days. The analysis utilized secondary data obtained from the project contractor, including the mix design and compressive strength test results. The findings indicate that at 7 days of curing, conventional concrete achieved the highest average compressive strength of 28.31 MPa. At 14 days, fly ash concrete with integral crystalline waterproofing demonstrated a significant improvement, reaching the highest average compressive strength of 40.82 MPa. These results highlight the variation in characteristics between different concrete mixes at different curing ages and confirm that the use of fly ash–based integral waterproofing has a substantial positive impact on compressive strength as the concrete matures.
