Abstract

Stunting is a growth disorder in children as a result of chronic nutritional problems. This causes the child's height does not match his age. Various efforts have been made to reduce the prevalence of stunting. One of the innovations that can be done is the development of new food products by modifying meatballs derived from tuna with anchovy flour substitution (tori meatballs). This study aims to determine the effect of giving tori meatballs on total protein levels and body weight. The study was conducted for 14 days. The research sample consisted of 27 male wistar rats which were divided into 3 groups, namely K as the control group, P1 as the treatment group with 1 g/day of tori meatball, and P2 the treatment group with 2 g/day of tori meatball. Body weight was measured daily with a digital scale. Total protein assay using Kingsley Method with biuret reagent. The results showed that body weight and total protein content were not statistically different. The provision of tuna meatballs with anchovy flour substitution (tori meatballs) had no effect on body weight and total protein content of wistar white rats. Keywords: stunting; tori meatballs; protein total levels; wistar rats

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, adolescents experienced many things, one of which was a decrease in productivity. Inadolescents, among others, lack of productivity, menstrual disorders, decreased appetite, stress levels and sleep disorders. Factors that affect the menstrual cycle include nutritional status, physical activity, stress levels and sleep duration. The problem in adolescents at this time is the duration of sleep and high levels of stress caused by online learning systems. The data used was the result of filling out the Menstrual Cycle questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS 42). This research using Chi Square test obtained test results: p-value = 0.038 (there was a relationship between sleep duration and the menstrual cycle). In the stress level research test obtained p-value of 0.005 (there was a relationship between stress levels and the menstrual cycle). It could be concluded that there is a relationship between sleep duration and stress levels with the menstrual cycle in adolescent girls at SMA N 10 Semarang. Keywords: sleep; stress; menstruation; adolescent

Abstract

Oral and dental health is one of the important components to improve a person's quality of life. The aim of this study is to describe the oral and dental health status in Children who lived In Agroindustrial environment in Jember. This study was an analytical descriptive research. The subjects used were 255 students in 3 elementary schools. The sampling technique used was total population sampling. Data obtained by questionnaire and direct examination in the form of examination of DMF-t or def-t index and oral hygiene index. Then the data tabulation was carried out using table. Based on the caries index, it shows that children in the coffee and cocoa agro-industry environment had a low category caries in permanent teeth (mean DMF-t = 1,6), mean while in deciduous teeth included in the moderate category caries (mean def-t = 4,11). The profile of oral and dental health status in Children who lived in agroindustrial environment need to improve. Keywords: oral health status; agroindustrial environtment; children

Abstract

The purpose of making entomological preserved preparations was to identify insect morphology, which went through the stages of fixation, dehydration, clearing and mounting. Clearing is a step that aims to make the insect structure visible, clear and transparent, the materials used for the clearing process are toluene and clove oil which have carbon compounds and minimal toxicity. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of preparations preserved by Aedes sp larvae in the clearing process using toluene and clove oil. This type of research was analytic with a cross-sectional approach with two treatments, namely toluene and clove oil, with 16 samples for each treatment. Preserved preparations of Aedes sp. larvae were observed microscopically to assess the quality of preserved preparations which included the clarity of preparations, color quality, and the integrity of the parasite's limbs. The results showed that in the clearing treatment with toluene, 5 preparations were of good quality, 4 preparations of good quality, and 7 preparations of poor quality. Clearing treatment with clove oil obtained 12 preparations of good quality and 4 preparations of moderate quality. The Mann-Whitney statistical test showed a p-value of 0.032. It can be concluded that there is difference in the quality of preparations preserved by Aedes sp. larvae in the clearing process using toluene and clove oil. Keywords: quality of preparations; Aedes sp; toluene; clove oil

Abstract

Herniated nucleus pulposus is a rupture of the annulus fibrosus intervertebral disc which can compression the excitatory tissue of the lumbar that comes out of the intervertebral foramen, causing radicular pain, and ultimately causing lumbar disability. This study aims to prove that the addition of SNAGS to conventional therapy is faster in reducing pain and disability in grade I and II lumbar HNP. This research was a experimental study with a control times series design which was carried out at dr. La Palaloi Hospital, Bhayangkara Hospital and Inggit Medical Clinic Makassar. The population was 50 samples with each group was consists of 20 people according to pocock formula and each group had given 2 times exercises a week for 6 weeks, simple random sampling using consecutive sampling method with lottery technique. The primary outcomes measured were pain and disability used VAS and ODI that were performed every week. Data analysis using Kruskall-Wallis and Wilcoxon showed the change in the mean VAS before the intervention was 5.84±1.17 and the mean VAS after the third week of intervention was 4.90±1.04 with p-value = 0.000 and a change in the mean The ODI before the intervention was 40.60±9.21 and the mean ODI after the fourth week of intervention was 32.90±6.79 with p-value = 0.0000. While the treatment group showed a change in the mean VAS before the intervention was 5.68±1.00 and the mean VAS after the second week of intervention was 4.57±0.79 with p-value = 0.000 and change in the mean ODI before intervention was 40.50±8.43 and the mean ODI after the third week of intervention was 28.60±6.23 with p-value = 0.000 which means that the control group was effective for changes in pain in the third week and effective for changes in disability in the fourth week, while the study group was effective for changes in pain in the second week and effective for changes in disability in the third week. There was a significant difference in pain changes in the control group and the treatment group in the second week with p-value = 0.014 and a significant difference in the change in disability in the control group and the treatment group in the third week with p-value = 0.011. It was concluded that the addition of SNAGS to conventional therapy was faster in reducing pain in the second week and disability in the third week in cases of grade I and II lumbar HNP. Keywords: pain; disability; HNP lumbar grade I and II; conventional therapy; SNAGS

Abstract

In orthodontic therapy, mechanical force produces remodeling. Because the process of bone resorption on tooth movement is larger than that of bone apposition when a normal force is applied, a balance is required by increasing the number of osteoblasts and lowering the number of osteoclasts. The purpose of this study was to look at the ability of cocoa bean extract to assist balance the apposition and resorption of alveolar bone during orthodontic tooth movement. A total of 36 male Wistar rats were separated into three groups of Group K-(untreated rats), K+ (giving an orthodontic mechanical force), and P (giving an orthodontic mechanical force and a dosage of 250 mg/kg BW cocoa bean extract).  Following euthanasia at 7 and 14 days of therapy and osteoblasts and osteoclasts were counted. The results showed that there was an increase in osteoblasts number and a decrease in osteoclasts number in the treatment group, as indicated by the results of calculating the average number of cells in each group, which were supported by statistical tests using SPSS, which revealed significant differences between groups. In orthodontic tooth movement, cocoa bean extract has the ability to enhance the number of osteoblasts while decreasing the number of osteoclasts. Keywords: osteoblasts; osteoclasts; orthodontic tooth movement; cocoa bean extract

Abstract

Food intake is the amount of food obtained by the body via daily food consumption that consists of energy, carbs, fat, and protein. The distribution of fat will be affected by an imbalance in food consumption. The distribution of body fat is classified as either android or gynoid obesity. Someone who has abdominal obesity is more likely to develop metabolic syndrome. This study aims to determine the influence of food intake on fat distribution in dental student of Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember. Analytic observational research methods were applied in this study. The population comprised of 109 students from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Jember. The research procedures comprised instructing, measuring height, weight, the waist-hip circumference ratio, completing the food intake measurement sheet based on 24 hours food recall, data conversion, and data entry. The influence of food intake on fat distribution was determined using logistic regression data analysis. The results revealed that food intake had an effect on fat distribution. The male group's effect was energy, while the female group's influence was carbohydrates and fat, according to the study's findings. Abstract

A vape or e-cigarette is a battery-powered inhaler that serves nicotine which the WHO calls the Electronic Nicotine Delivery System (ENDS). Vape is a technology that resembles tobacco cigarettes without burning the tobacco leaves. Metal casing with built-in battery-powered atomizer to generate steam to inhale from cartridges containing propylene glycol and glycerol, flavorings, and nicotine. Various studies have been carried out to determine the impact of vaping. This study aims to determine the correlation between vaping with demographic characteristics and dry mouth complaints. The design of this study was cross-sectional, involving 44 people aged less than 60 years, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected by filling out questionnaires and saliva examination, then analyzed using Fisher's exact test and Spearman's correlation. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that smoking vaping has an correlation with dry mouth complaints (dry mouth complaints score and salivary secretion rate) and age. Keywords: vaping; dry mouth complaints; demographic characteristics

Abstract

 Plumbum enters through various environmental factors such as inhaled air, digestion, urine as much as 75-80%, feces 15%, and others such as sweat, hair, and nails. The impact of exposure to lead can affect erythrocyte index. The erythrocyte index is a limitation of the size and content of erythrocyte hemoglobin, the erythrocyte index examination consists of MCV MCH and MCHC. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between exposure to lead in the blood and MCV values in silver human workers. This type of research was analytic. 15 silver workers were taken from Jl. Soekarno Hatta Semarang. 8 ml samples were taken for examination of lead levels and MCV levels, put in a purple tube, then 5 ml of blood was examined for lead levels in the IDD laboratory using the ASS method, while 3 ml of blood was examined MCV levels in the Hematology Laboratory, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang using a hematology analyzer. The results showed that the lead levels in the high category was 15 samples at most with a percentage value of 100%, while the MCV had the highest number, namely in the normal category as many as 13 samples with a percentage value of 86.6. Statistical test using Pearson correlation showed p-value of 0.102. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between exposure to lead in the blood and the value of MCV. Keywords: silver human workers; MCV; plumbum exposure

Abstract

Stunting in children is challenge in the development of quality Indonesian people. Number of stunting in Indonesia is still quite high, at 30.8 percent. In the 2020-2024 RPJMN, the suppression of the stunting rate is targeted to be 19% in 2024 from the current 30.8%. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of health counseling with audio visual media on changes in mother's behavior in preventing stunting in Doloksanggul sub district, Humbang Hasundutan district in 2021. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental method with use of counseling as  treatment. Delivery of information supported by  provision of audio-visual media about stunting prevention. The population in this study were all couples of fertiled age women  and it was conducted in May 2021. The sample in this study was used by part of the population of women of childbearing age in the Doloksanggul District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency in 2020, which was 148 people. The sample size in this study was calculated based on the Slovin formula (the sample size was 35 women of childbearing age). The instruments used were video audio visual media, respondent identity questionnaire and knowledge, attitude and practice questionnaire. Statistical analysis was carried out with the aim of explaining the relationship between the variables being studied, using paired sample t-test. The results of data processing showed that there was a significant difference between behavior in stunting prevention before counseling with audio-visual media and after counseling with a p-value of 0.000. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there were significant differences in knowledge, attitudes and practices before and after intervention with audio-visual media. It is hoped that effectiveness and efficiency in delivering information will be carried out to mothers. The media provided is in form of files that can be repeatedly accessed via Android. The provision of audio-visual media adds learning tools in education, in addition to increase the ease of access to knowledge for the community. Keywords: counseling; audio visual; knowledge; attitude; practice; stunting
