Abstract

Concerns to the balance of achieving knowledge, skills, and literacy competencies are less noticed in the Arabic learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to reconstruct the learning process as a solution. This study aims to carry out the reconstruction by using the Quran as the primary source. Verses related to the development of human language are used as the main data analyzed using the historical scientific approach of Ibn Faris and Krippendorf content analysis. As an analytical perspective, three literacy theories are used, namely The Four Resources Model, The Literacy Triptyche, and the Balance Literacy Model. There are five phases of human language development according to the Quran, namely the imitation phase, the perception phase of reason, the evolutionary phase of language and abstraction, the hubuth phase, and the isthifa phase. These phases, when elaborated into a learning cycle, become a modeling cycle, building context, constructing texts either guided or independently, evaluating text constructs, and critical texts. The imitation phase will lead language learners to master knowledge competencies. The perception phase of reasoning can lead to the achievement of skill competence. Literacy competence can be achieved through all cycles; even in the hubuth and isthifa phase, language learners can achieve critical literacy competence.

This study is a literature study exploring the application of cybergogy in Arabic language learning at the college level, especially concerning distance learning in the covid-19 pandemic. The primary sources in the literature review are journal articles of international reprisals such as Elsevier, Springer, Scopus, and nationally reputable and through books and various other sources relevant to research. The result of this study shows the concept of cybergogy in Arabic learning in Islamic universities during the covid-19 pandemic can be actualized by: 1) Virtual-based Bi'ah lughawiyyah, 2) Technology-based assignments, and 3) Technology-based evaluations. In addition, Arabic learning with the cybergogy paradigm is not only applied to integrate cognitive, emotional, and social aspects in a virtual learning space only, but also applied to integrate Arabic learning goals including mastery of four Arabic language skills.

Abstract

Although terrorism belongs to many ideologies and religions in the world, now, terrorism in the name of Islam has swept across many regions of the world, from East to West, and has also been widely studied. However, studies on its relationship with Arabic language are lacking or even non-existent. Therefore, this article bases its exploration on a literature review methodology with a semiotic structuralism theory approach. This research found that based on Imam Samudra's book, JI/NII terrorist circles use Arabic loanword far more than mainstream moderate Islam, especially in social issues. This shows that the more Arabic loanwords, especially in Islamic socio-political texts, the more fundamentalist they are. In Imam Samudra's book, a number of Arabic words were also found which were given new connotations of a jihadist/terrorist fundamentalist nature. In addition, Imam Samudra's understanding of many Arabic loanwords such as jihad fi sabilillah (jihad in the way of Allah) is also wrong because it is not based on the context of the text and its social context as well as a standard methodology of interpretation in Islam. His jihad understanding cannot be accounted for in Islamic science and language.
