Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to determine the application of discovery learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This research is experimental research with a quasi experimental design. The population in this study were all students of grade VII SMPN 4 Sungguminasa with grade VII.A as samples an experimental class and grade VII.C as a control class. The research instruments used a test to solve mathematical problems. Data analysis techniques were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the application of discovery learning model is effective on students' mathematical problem solving abilities.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian yaitu quasi eksperimental design. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 4 Sungguminasa dengan sampel pada kelas VII.A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII.C sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning efektif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa.

Abstract

Abstract:This research is conducted to obtain a description of students’ difficulties in understanding and applying Pythagorean theorem based on the onto-semiotic approach. This research applies a qualitative approach with phenomenology interpretation design. Research data were collected using test and interview methods. The research result was deducted from students' answer sheets and interviews. Participants involved in this study were as many as 25 students of UPI Lab School Junior High School Bandung, who had learned Pythagorean theorem, 4 of which also participated in the interview. It showed that students found it complicated to comprehend definition, describe symbols or notations of mathematical objects, and interpret mathematical objects. Meanwhile, in solving problems related to the application of the Pythagorean theorem, students could describe procedure, algorithm, and technique in solving questions well.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran kesulitan siswa dalam memahami dan menerapkan Teorema Pythagoras menggunakan pendekatan onto-semiotika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain interpretasi fenomenologi. Metode pengumpulan data, yaitu tes dan wawancara. Partisipan penelitian yang dilibatkan dalam uji kemampuan siswa adalah 25 orang siswa SMP Lab School UPI Bandung yang pernah belajar materi teorema Pythagoras, 4 orang dari 25 orang siswa tersebut dilibatkan dalam wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami definisi, mendeskripsikan simbol atau notasi dari objek matematika, serta kesulitan dalam memaknai objek matematika, sedangkan dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan penerapan teorema Pythagoras, siswa mampu mendeskripsikan prosedur, algoritma, dan teknik penyelesaikan masalah dengan baik.

Abstract

Abstract:This research aims to identify the components of number sense of pre-service mathematics teachers. Pre-service mathematics teachers need a good number sense ability as a provision to transfer knowledge to students. This research uses a quantitative method. Subjects in this research are 14 third year pre-service mathematics teachers. The instrument used was in the form of 30 items of number sense questions that were developed based on number sense components, that is, understanding and skills about numbers, using number and operations on numbers, and using number and operation skills in calculations. The results showed that number sense ability of pre-service mathematics teachers' was still at a moderate level, which is 76.67%. Pre-service mathematics teachers also lack numbers' comprehension and skills elements.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki komponen number sense mahasiswa calon guru matematika. Calon guru matematika memerlukan kemampuan number sense sebagai bekal untuk mentransfer pengetahuan kepada siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah 14 calon guru matematika tahun ketiga. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa 30 item soal number sense yang dikembangkan berdasarkan komponen number sense, yaitu pemahaman dan keterampilan tentang bilangan dan penggunaan operasi bilangan, dan menerapkan keterampilan bilangan dan operasi dalam perhitungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan number sense mahasiswa calon guru matematika masih berada pada level sedang yakni 76,67%. Mahasiswa calon guru matematika masih lemah dalam komponen pemahaman dan keterampilan tentang bilangan.

Abstract

Abstract:This study is an ex post facto that aimed to determine the effect of interpersonal communication between lecturers and students on the students’ learning motivation. The population included all 4th-semester students at the Department of Sharia and Islamic Economics of State Institute Islamic Institute of Bone, consisting of 210 students with the sample as many as 42 students. The methods of data collection were observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The techniques of data analysis used were descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using a simple linear regression test. Based on the calculation of the questionnaire score, it was known that the significance value obtained at 0.00 was stated to be smaller than the confidence level of 0.05 (0.00 <0.05). Based on the significance value, it can be concluded that H0 was rejected, which means that there was an effect of Interpersonal Communication on the students’ learning motivation. While the R-squared value = 0.650, which means that the effect of interpersonal communication between the lecturers and students to the students’ learning motivation was 65% while 35% of students’ learning motivation was affected by other variables that are not the focus of this study. The results of this study proved that interpersonal communication between lecturers and students consisting of several indicators, namely the attitude of openness, empathy, support, positive attitude, and equality, has a positive effect on the students’ learning motivation.Abstrak:Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex post facto, bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh komunikasi interpersonal dosen dan mahasiwa terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester 4 Jurusan Syariah dan Ekonomi Islam IAIN Bone yang berjumlah 210 mahasiswa dengan sampel sebanyak 42 mahasiswa. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial menggunakan uji regresi linear sederhana. Berdasarkan perhitungan skor angket diketahui bahwa nilai signifikansi yang diperoleh sebesar 0,00 dinyatakan lebih kecil dari taraf kepercayaan 0,05 (0,00 < 0,05). Berdasarkan nilai signifikansi dapat disimpulkan bahwa H0 ditolak, yang berarti bahwa ada pengaruh komunikasi interpersonal terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Sementara itu, nilai R Square = 0.650 yang berarti bahwa pengaruh komunikasi interpersonal antara dosen dan mahasiswa terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa sebesar 65% sedangkan 35% motivasi belajar mahasiswa dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak menjadi fokus pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal antara dosen dan mahasiswa yang terdiri dari beberapa indikator yakni adanya sikap keterbukaan, empati, dukungan, sikap positif, dan kesamaan/kesetaraan berpengaruh positif terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aimed to describe a type of student learning difficulties in algebra that associated with the indicator based on the dimensions of Bloom's Taxonomy Revision. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The subject research is students of class VIII B at SMPN 7 Kota Serang. Data collection techniques used is a diagnostic test and interview. The analysis technique used is collection, reduction, presentation of data, and conclusion. The results showed that some types of students' learning difficulties in algebra. Students have difficulties in identifying the variables, coefficients, constants, and rates similar, the difficulties in simplifying a form of algebra, the difficulties of using the properties of distributive multiplication and arithmetic operations of mathematics, the difficulties in making a mathematical model of a statement or everyday problems, the difficulties in determining the overall value, per unit, and in part, the difficulties of counting based on the unit value, difficulties in resolving problems using the properties of comparative worth, and the difficulties of reflective thinking, as well as difficulty experienced by students, lies in the factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive knowledge.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesulitan belajar siswa pada aljabar berdasarkan dimensi Revisi Taksonomi Bloom. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII B di SMPN 7 Kota Serang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes diagnostik dan wawancara. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan, reduksi, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jenis kesulitan belajar siswa yaitu kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi variabel, koefisien, konstanta, dan tingkat yang serupa, kesulitan dalam menyederhanakan bentuk aljabar, menggunakan sifat-sifat perkalian distributif dan operasi matematika aritmatika, membuat model matematika, menentukan nilai keseluruhan, per unit, dan sebagian, kesulitan penghitungan berdasarkan nilai unit, kesulitan menyelesaikan masalah menggunakan sifat-sifat nilai komparatif, dan kesulitan berpikir reflektif, serta kesulitan siswa terletak pada pengetahuan faktual, konseptual, prosedural, dan metakognitif.

Abstract

Abstract:Various mathematical abilities require a high level of struggle to be achieved, one of which is the ability to solve mathematical proof problems. Several factors are also associated with this ability, including adversity quotient and resilience. This research aimed to look at the effect of adversity quotient and resilience on the mathematical proof problem-solving ability. This research used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample in this study were 31 students randomly selected from all students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Sulawesi Barat who programmed Abstract Algebra course in the academic year of 2019/2020, amounting to 71 students. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regressions. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that adversity quotient and resilience affect the mathematical proof problem-solving ability positively both individually and simultaneously.Abstrak:Berbagai kemampuan matematis memerlukan daya juang tinggi untuk berhasil dicapai, salah satunya kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis. Beberapa faktor pun dikaitkan dengan kemampuan tersebut, antara lain adversity quotient dan resiliensi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh adversity quotient dan resiliensi terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 31 mahasiswa yang dipilih secara acak dari seluruh mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Sulawesi Barat yang memprogramkan mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar tahun akademik 2019/2020 yang berjumlah 71 mahasiswa. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa adversity quotient dan resiliensi berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah pembuktian matematis baik secara sendiri-sendiri maupun secara simultan.

Abstract

Abstract:This research is development research that aims to develop mathematics teaching materials related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This research uses the stages of Research and Development, including problem and data collection, product design, design validation, product test (practicality test), trial test (pretest and posttest), and final product. The results show that teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective to increase mathematical connection ability. The results of the test indicate that teaching materials are valid to use in learning with a percentage of 94.42%. The practicality test results show that teaching materials are easily practised by students, with a percentage of 87.47%. The analysis of the results of the pretest and posttest showed that there was an effective increase in the mathematical connection ability with the n-gain test results of 0.628 on the medium criteria. Thus, mathematics teaching materials in this research can be used in learning, and the copyright was submitted by the electronic intellectual wealth General Directory.Abstract:Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar matematika yang berhubungan dengan Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Penelitian ini menggunakan tahapan penelitian dan pengembangan, yaitu masalah dan pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, uji produk (tes kepraktisan), uji coba (pretest dan posttest), dan produk akhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar tersebut valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar valid untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan persentase 94,42%. Hasil tes kepraktisan menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar mudah digunakan oleh siswa, dengan persentase 87,47%. Analisis hasil pretest dan posttest menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan yang efektif dalam kemampuan koneksi matematis dengan hasil tes n-gain dari 0,628 pada kriteria medium. Dengan demikian, materi pengajaran matematika dalam penelitian ini dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran, dan hak cipta disampaikan oleh kekayaan intelektual elektronik direktori umum.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to examine the increasing mastery of the concept of the matrix through the Discovery Learning model. This research is a class action research. The subjects in this study were students of Class XI TEDK-A at SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi. Data sources are teachers and students. Data collection techniques using tests and observation sheets. Based on data analysis, the average of student learning outcomes has increased by 77.42, from the first test cycle achieved by 10.00 to the last testing cycle achieved by 87.42. From the results, it can be concluded that there is an improvement in students' mathematical understanding of the matrix material in class XI TEDK-A in SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi students who use the discovery learning model. Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah penguasaan konsep matriks melalui model Discovery Learning dapat ditingkatkan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI TEDK-A di SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi. Sumber data diperoleh dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan lembar observasi. Berdasarkan analisis data, rata-rata hasil belajar siswa meningkat sebesar 77,42 dari siklus tes pertama yang dicapai sebesar 10,00 hingga siklus pengujian terakhir yang dicapai oleh 87,42. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi matriks siswa kelas XI TEDK-A di SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi dengan menggunakan model Discovery Learning.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to find out how the thinking process of female and male students in solving problems analyzed using thinking type indicators according to Zuhri and Wing that divided into three, namely conceptual, semi-conceptual, and computational thinking processes. This research method used a qualitative descriptive study. The instrument in the study consisted of test questions given to 34 VII grade students in one of Junior High School in Cimahi. Based on the results, can be known about the conceptual thinking process only done by female students with a percentage of 11.8%, the semi-conceptual thinking process of female students was 64.7% and 47% of male students, as for computational thinking process of female students was 23.5% and 53%  male students. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that female students tend to think semi-conceptually while male students tend to think computationally.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses berpikir siswa perempuan dan laki-laki dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang dianalisis menggunakan indikator jenis berpikir menurut Zuhri dan Wing yang dibagi menjadi tiga yaitu proses berpikir konseptual, semi-konseptual, dan komputasi. Metode penelitian ini berupa penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen dalam penelitian berupa soal tes yang diberikan kepada 34 siswa kelas VII SMP di Kota Cimahi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat diketahui bahwa proses berpikir konseptual hanya dilakukan siswa perempuan dengan persentase 11,8%, proses berpikir semi-konseptual siswa perempuan adalah 64,7% dan siswa laki-laki 47%, sedangkan untuk proses berpikir komputasi siswa perempuan adalah 23,5% dan siswa laki-laki 53%. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa perempuan cenderung berpikir secara semikonseptual, sedangkan siswa laki-laki cenderung berpikir secara komputasional.

Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to understand the influence of the problem-based learning model with a scientific approach to grade VIII students' mathematics learning  outcomes at SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. This research collected its research data through the distribution of observation sheets and learning achievement tests. Based on the descriptive statistical analysis results that the average value of student learning outcomes by using the problem-based learning model is 78.7, and the standard deviation is 7.21, while the average value of student learning outcomes without the problem-based learning model treatment is 72.19, and the standard deviation is 7.01. The results of the inferential analysis indicate the significant value (2-tailed) of 0.003 < 0.05, signifying a rejected H0. For that reason, this research concludes that there is a significant difference in grade VIII students' mathematics learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa when the problem-based learning model with a scientific approach is implemented.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaraan berbasis masalah dengan pendekatan saintifik terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII  SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non equivalent control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi dan tes hasil belajar. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa menggunakan model problem based learning adalah sebesar 78,7 dan standar deviasinya 7,21, sedangkan rata-rata hasil belajar siswa yang tidak menggunakan model problem based learning adalah 72,19 dan standar deviasinya 7,01.  Hasil analisis inferensial menunjukkan nilai signifikan (2-tailed) sebesar 0,003 < 0,05, yang berarti H0 ditolak. Oleh karena itu, apat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan dalam hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Sungguminasa ketika menerapkan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan pendekatan saintifik.
