Abstract

Indonesian people'sinterest in milkconsumptionis minimal compared to several developed countries. One of the factors causing minimal milk consumptionis the unattractive base color of the milk. The solutionis by diversifying dairy products with a combination of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea) as a natural coloring. Butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea) contain flavonoids as natural dyes and anthocyanins, which are bioactive components that have functional value as antioxidants. Besides being anantioxidant, butterfly pea flowers (Clitoriater natea) also function as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and anti-histamine. This research aims to determine the percentage of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea L) in making pasteurized milk, which has the best hedonic quality in termsof color, aroma, taste, and level of preference. The research design applied was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatmentsand 4 replications. Treatment P0: Milk (control), P1: Milk + 10% butterfly pea flower extract, P2: Milk + 15% butterfly pea flower extract, P3: Milk + 20% butterfly pea flower extract and P4: Milk + 25% butterfly pea flower extract. The variables observed are hedonic quality, including color, aroma, taste, and level of liking. The research showed that pasteurized milk with a combination of butterfly pea flower extract, namely the P3 treatment (Milk + 20% butterfly pea flower extract), was the best color and taste. Mean while, the highest level of liking was P4 (Milk + 25% butterfly pea flower extract) in terms of aroma.

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays saccaharata Sturt L.) is a plant that is harvested when it is young and widely cultivated in tropical areas. However, production is still low, so it needs to be optimized with fertilization. This research aimed to determine the effect of KCl fertilizer doses on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt L.) plants in inceptisol soil. It was carried out on the Rendole Pati Palawija Nursery Development Garden grounds. This research used a Single Factor Complete Randomized Block Design (RAKL) experimental experiment with 3 treatments, namely: 0 kg/ha (K0), 75 kg/ha (K1), and 150 kg/ha (K2). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The research results showed that the dose of KCl fertilizer significantly affected the parameters of plant height, fresh weight of stover, dry weight of stover, ear diameter, ear length, and sweetness content. The best growth and production of sweet corn is at a dose of 150 kg/ha.

Abstract

Sugarcane seeding is a conventional initial seed stage that begins based on the juvenile phase for the formation of the three main components of the plant, namely roots, stems, and leaves. Conventional sugar cane nurseries use explants from either bud chips or mules to grow buds. Initial testing is based on viability characteristics, and seed vigor index. In addition, explant growth is influenced by the genetic aspects of each material used. This research aims to (1) determine the viability, and index of sugarcane seeds, and (2) estimate the action of genes that influence each observed character. This research was carried out in June – July 2023. The research used a complete randomized block design with the treatment of sugar cane varieties, namely AMS Agribun (V1), AAS Agribun (V2), and Kidang Kencana (V3). The results showed that the agronomic characters for the number of leaves, and leaf length were significantly different from ? 5%, with standard deviation, and coefficient of variation values, respectively, reaching 0.0697, and 21.144 for the number of leaves, and 4.743, and 29.776 for leaf length characters. The characters for the number, and length of leaves have skewness, and kurtosis values of 0.816, and (-0.3079), and 0.416, and (-0.811), respectively. The AMS Agribun variety showed the best performance for plant height, leaf length, leaf greenness, and number of roots. The AAS Agribun variety showed the best performance for the character's number of leaves, leaf width, and leaf area. Meanwhile, the Kidang Kencana variety showed the best performance regarding vigor index, growth speed, germination capacity, and root length.

Abstract

Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is a commercial crop that plays a role in the economy. Tobacco productivity can be increased by optimizing existing land. One component of tobacco cultivation that supports tobacco growth is the availability of quality planting material. The aims of this research are 1) To determine the growth response of tobacco plant seeds in several local and superior varieties and 2) To determine the growth rate of tobacco plant seeds in several local and superior varieties. It was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries from June to September 2023. The design used was a non-factorial randomized block design repeated 3 times, each treatment consisting of 4 samples. The treatments tested were 4 varieties of tobacco, namely Ico Lalo (V1), Ico Tempo (V2), Kemloko (V3), and Prancak-95 (V4), so there were 48 experimental units. The results of the research showed that the Kemloko 1 variety had the best seed growth for observed characters, namely plant height, 10,425 cm; stem height, 2,943 cm; leaf length, 6,475 cm; and leaf width, 4,483 cm. The description of the kemloko 1 variety shows that the level of location specificity is better than that of superior and local varieties according to the observed characteristics, namely plant height, stem height, leaf length, and leaf width.

Abstract

One of the fundamental problems in tilapia aquaculture is the decline in water quality in the hatchery. The seed stage is more vulnerable to environmental changes that can reduce the gowth process of seeds and will further cause death. This study aims to determine the effect of fortification of papaya leaf flour (Carica papaya L.) to stimulate tilapia gowth. This study used an experimental method to treat different doses of papaya leaf flour mixed into the feed, namely 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%, with the test animals used as tilapia seeds measuring 1.4 gams with a length of 3.2 cm. The proximate test results showed that the moisture, ash, crude fat, crude protein, crude fiber, and BETN content were suitable for tilapia fish needs. After 30 days of rearing with the test feed, there was an effect on the specific gowth rate parameters on day 15 and day 30 and the average absolute gowth. The best specific gowth rate (SG) at a dose of 2% was obtained at 6.606% on day 15 and 4.400% on day 30. The best average absolute gowth was obtained at 2% dose feeding with tilapia weight of 6.606 gams and length of 4.400 cm.

Abstract

Uncontrolled conversion of agricultural land remains a serious problem in agricultural development, not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. The conversion of agricultural land often impacts the socio-economic life of farmers, especially income. One form of agricultural land conversion currently widely practiced is converting agricultural land into tourist sites. This research aims to determine the impact of the existence of the Civil Camp Karangan tourist attraction on the income of farmers who change land functions. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive analysis. The Paired sample T-test analysis was used to determine the difference in farmers' income before and after the conversion of agricultural land. The results showed a calculated T value of 7,000> 2.57 T table value. It showed a difference in farmers' income before and after converting agricultural land into a tourist attraction. Thus, efforts are needed to improve the quality of the Civil Camp Karangan tourist attraction so that it still has economic benefits for the community around the location, especially farmers.

Abstract

The addition of multi-amino acids to the culture media for Portunus pelagicus crab larvae accelerates the metamorphosis rate from the zoea to megalopa stages. The research aims to examine the effect of adding multiple amino acids to the rearing media and determine the best dosage on the rate of acceleration of metamorphosis (stage transfer) of P. pelagicus crab larvae from zoea to megalopa stages. Test samples are taken daily to see the development of larvae or larval stage index. The test animals used in this research were zoea-1 stage crab larvae stocked at 100 individuals/L density. The container used in this research was a black plastic basin with a water volume of 30 liters. Treatment doses of amino acids were 0, 150, 200, and 250 ppm with 3 repetitions each. The research results show that administering multi-amino acids in the rearing media can accelerate the transfer rate of crab larvae stages. The fastest rate of acceleration of metamorphosis from zoea to megalopa was produced at a treatment dose of 250 ppm for 10 days, and the longest was produced at a dose of 0 ppm for 13 days. Stage transfer between sub-zoea takes 2-3 days for metamorphosis, and zoea to megalopa takes 10-13 days.

Abstract

The high prevalence rate of stunting in West Sulawesi Province, which reached 33.8, places West Sulawesi in second place in the province with the highest stunting in Indonesia. One effort to prevent stunting is to diversify the intake of complementary foods for children aged 6-23 months by utilizing local natural resources. This research aims to formulate flying fish, barley flour, and Moringa leaves as a functional food in processed nuggets as a menu for Supplementary Feeding (PMT) for babies under two years old. The research method was carried out in three stages, namely, the nugget formulation in two formulas, namely F1 and F2. Next, an organoleptic test is carried out to select the best formula, followed by a nutritional content analysis, which includes proximate analysis and mineral testing. The research results showed that the nugget formula selected was based on organoleptic tests on 30 panelists, namely F1 nuggets with a mixture of 175 g of flying fish, 75 g of barley flour, and 10 g of moringa leaves. These nuggets contain nutrients per 100 grams, namely protein 14.36 g, carbohydrates 27.83 g, fat 5.53 g, crude fiber 1.22 g, iron 62.78 mg/kg, calcium 97.53 mg/kg, and zinc 15.52 mg/kg. Therefore, nuggets with the selected formula are rich in the nutrients needed in complementary breast milk foods to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Soil is an essential factor in cultivating plants, which, apart from being a planting medium, also supplies food in the form of nutrients. For successful cultivation, farmers should know the condition of the soil before planting. One of the most important things is the soil acidity level (pH) and the type of soil that will be used for planting. The research aimed to determine the effect of soil processing and liming on the growth and production of red bean plants. The research was carried out in Bontomanai Village, Bungaya District, Gowa Regency, at an altitude of ± 400 meters above sea level from May to December 2023. The research used a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 2 factors. The first factor is soil processing, with 2 treatment levels: No tillage (control) and tillage (Hoeing). The second factor is the lime dose, with 4 levels of treatment, namely without liming (control), 1 ton/ha (0.1 kg/plot), 2 tons/ha (0.2 kg/plot), 3 tons/ha (0 .3 kg/plot). There were 8 combinations, and each treatment combination was repeated 3 times, so that 24 treatment combination units were obtained. Each treatment combination unit used 10 plants and 3 sample plants. The research results showed that tillage had a better effect than no tillage at a weight parameter of 100, namely 41.30 gr. Liming at a dose of 3 tons per hectare had the best effect on plant height parameters, namely 47.68 cm. The interaction between soil processing and liming at a dose of 3 tons/ha gave the best effect on seed weight per planting, 24.93 grams, seed weight per plot of 0.28 kg, and seed production per hectare, namely 2.8 tons/ha.
