Abstract

Background: Sleman Regency has a high prevalence of stunted toddlers because it is still above the national target of 14%. Objective: To determine the relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months at Posyandu Sirsak. Method: The type of this research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 30 individuals, employing a total sampling technique. Results: There is a relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding with a p-value of 0.026 and the history of complementary feeding with a p-value of 0.025 with the incidence of stunting. There is no relationship between maternal age (p-value 0.443), education level (p-value 0.228), employment status (p-value 0.427), low birth weight (p-value 1.000), and family income (p-value 0.665) with the incidence of stunting. The research results indicate that the history of providing complementary feeding is more significantly statistically related than the history of exclusive breastfeeding in children aged 24-59 months, marked by a p-value of 0.038. Conclusion: A relationship exists between the history of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding and the incidence of stunting, where the history of complementary feeding is more significantly statistically related to stunting.

Abstract

Work stress is a common issue among employees. One non-pharmacological method to reduce stress is instrumental music relaxation. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a 10-minute instrumental music session, conducted over three consecutive days, on reducing work-related stress among office workers at PT X. A quasi-experimental design with a control group and pre-test–post-test measurements was employed. Sixty office workers were selected through total sampling and equally assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention group listened to piano and nature-sound music for 10 minutes during each break for three days, while the control group received no treatment. Stress levels were measured using the Stress Diagnosis Survey (SDS) before and after the intervention. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test for within-group comparison and the Mann–Whitney test for between-group comparison. Results showed a significant reduction in stress levels in the intervention group (p = 0.000), with 87% moving from moderate to mild stress. In contrast, the control group showed no significant change (p = 0.317). The post-test comparison between groups was also significant (p = 0.000). These findings suggest that instrumental music relaxation is an effective, low-cost intervention to improve employee mental well-being in the workplace.

Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is the causes of death in children. Baturaden District is an area with a high incidence of pneumonia, with a prevalence rate of 4%. Pneumonia in under-five children can be caused by a variety of factors. The aim of this study was to identify factors influencing the incidence of pneumonia in under- five children in the work area of the Puskesmas Baturaden II. Methods: This study is a quantitative analysis observational study with a case- control design using a total of 108 samples consisting of 54 case samples and 54 control samples. Questionnaires, documents and stationery served as research tools. Data analysis was univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with chi-square test, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression test. Results: Analysis showed that exclusive breastfeeding (p value = 0.003), the presence of smokers in the home (p value = 0.008), and the use of mosquito coils (p value = 0.045) influenced incidence pneumonia in under-five children. Nutritional status, DPT and measles vaccination status, vitamin A administration, floor type, wall type, ceiling condition, and the use of mosquito coils had no effect on the incidence of pneumonia (p value > 0.05). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding is the most influential risk factor for the development of pneumonia in under-five children in the working area of Puskesmas Baturaden II. Therefore, a mother needs to increase understanding and awareness to provide exclusive breastfeeding to under-five children so that under-five children’s immunity is in good condition.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, with increasing prevalence, particularly among the elderly. Genetic and lifestyle factors are believed to contribute to the development of hypertension. This study aimed to examine the relationship between age, family history of hypertension, and smoking behavior with the incidence of hypertension among adults. This cross-sectional study involved 74 adult respondents in Kalibagor Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. The analysis showed that older age (OR = 3.866; 95% CI: 1.351–11.059) and family history of hypertension (OR = 3.682; 95% CI: 1.974–7.950) were significantly associated with hypertension. Smoking behavior was not significantly associated with hypertension (p > 0.05). Age and family history of hypertension are dominant factors contributing to the incidence of hypertension. Preventive and promotive efforts should focus on high-risk groups to reduce the prevalence of hypertension in the community.

Abstract

The most common diseases suffered by Indonesian hajj pilgrims are non-communicable diseases (NCDs). To optimize the health istita'ah policy of the Ministry of Religion, further analysis is needed regarding the risk factors for NCDs in hajj pilgrims. This study aims to compare the risk factors for priority NCDs (hypertension and diabetes mellitus) in hajj pilgrims in Bandung Regency. The research design used was a case-control study with secondary data from the Integrated Hajj Computerized System for Health (Siskohatkes). The number of samples was 178 hajj pilgrims for each case and control group. Data analysis was carried out using the logistic regression analysis method. The results showed that age (OR=4.34; 95%CI=1.45-13.02) and comorbidities (OR=7.65; 95%CI=4.59-12.73) were risk factors for hypertension in hajj pilgrims. Age (OR=2.65; 95%CI=1.14-6.15) and comorbidities (OR=7; 95%CI=4.31-11.34) are also risk factors for diabetes mellitus in hajj pilgrims. Hajj pilgrims with a high-risk age category (≥40 years) or comorbidities are at greater risk of experiencing hypertension than diabetes mellitus. Thus, health coaching for hajj pilgrims must include lifestyle modification and education on routine control compliance.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the relation between age, body mass index (BMI), and blood pressure and total cholesterol levels in mining workers in PT Harmoni Panca Utama, Job Site KDA. The cross-sectional design was used and a multiple linear regression was carried out to determine the relationship between the independent variables and the overall cholesterol levels. The analysis showed that age and BMI were significant in influencing the level of total cholesterol (p < 0.001), but the systolic and diastolic blood pressure did not exhibit significant relations. Age was associated with more LDL and total cholesterol deposition because of age-related changes in lipid metabolism, and the excessive body weight (BMI) was associated with dyslipidemia because of visceral fat deposition and dysfunctional lipoprotein metabolism. These results have highlighted the significance of occupational health-serial of monitoring concerning the age and the nutritional status of workers to avoid cardiometabolism complications.

Abstract

Introduction: Previous studies suggest that cigarette smoke exposure and acute respiratory infections (ARI) are considered contributing factors. We analyzed the risk of cigarette smoke exposure and ARI incidence in association with stunting in children under 5 years of age in an Indonesian rural setting where smoking and ARI prevalences are high. Methods: This is an observational analytical study with a case–control design. Secondary data on stunting were obtained from height measurements in March 2020, whereas data on cigarette smoke exposure and the incidence of ARI were the primary data obtained from interviews. Results: After adjusting for other variables in the multivariable analysis, high exposure of cigarette smoke exposure (OR = 9.85, 95% C1 = 2.23 – 43.48) and frequent ARI incidence (OR = 7.32. 95% CI = 1.42 – 37.68) still demonstrated a significant association with stunting in children under 5 years of age; history of low birth weight and family income were among the associated covariate variables. Conclusion: These findings are consistent with those of previous studies. Cigarette smoke exposure and acute respiratory infections are associated with stunting in children under 5 years of age. Further robust studies are essential to confirm these findings.

Abstract

The rising incidence of workplace accidents in Indonesia indicates that the occupational health and safety (OHS) system is not yet optimal. PT X, a botanical extraction manufacturing company, faces complex hazardous conditions requiring a high level of safety awareness among its workers. However, low levels of safety awareness were observed among factory workers. One way to enhance safety awareness is through a proactive educational program called SAFE-SPOT. This study aims to analyze the influence of the SAFE-SPOT program on the level of safety awareness among factory workers at PT X Semarang. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test control group. The study population comprised 92 production workers at factory PT X Semarang. A sample of 58 workers was selected through purposive sampling and randomly allocated into two groups of 29 workers each. Data analysis utilized the Mann-Whitney U Test to determine the influence of the SAFE-SPOT program on safety awareness levels post-intervention in the experimental group compared to the non-intervened control group. The results demonstrate that the SAFE-SPOT program significantly improves safety awareness levels among factory workers at PT X Semarang.

Abstract

Work fatigue is a major risk factor contributing to occupational accidents in the mining industry, particularly among dump truck drivers who are exposed to long working hours, high physical demands, and harsh environmental conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between work duration and driver characteristics, including age, body mass index (BMI), and length of service, with subjective fatigue levels among dump truck drivers at PT X mining site. A cross-sectional study design was employed involving 40 dump truck drivers as respondents. Subjective fatigue was assessed using the Industrial Fatigue Research Committee (IFRC) questionnaire, while relationships between variables were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that most drivers worked more than 8 hours per day (90%), were in early adulthood (72.5%), had 6–10 years of work experience (50%), and were classified as overweight based on BMI (50%). The majority of respondents experienced low levels of fatigue (80%). Bivariate analysis revealed that BMI was the only variable significantly associated with subjective fatigue (p = 0.048), while work duration, age, and length of service showed no significant relationship. In conclusion, although overall fatigue levels were relatively low, body mass index emerged as a significant predictor of fatigue. Therefore, fatigue prevention strategies focusing on nutritional intervention, health monitoring, and safety education are strongly recommended to maintain driver performance and reduce accident risk.
