Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene and behavior with scabies incidence among students (santri) in Khalafi and Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools in Jember Regency. This quantitative research utilized a cross-sectional approach. The outcome variable was scabies incidence, while the exposure variables were personal hygiene and healthy behavior. The cluster random sampling was used, where the Islamic boarding schools were grouped into Khalafi (Modern) and Salafiyah (Conservative). The total respondents from the Khalafi dan Salafiyah was 89 and 62, respectively. The relationship between variables was assessed using the chi-square test, where the Prevalence Ratio (PR) was estimated. Path analysis was conducted in SmartPLS3. The scabies prevalence in the Khalafi and Salafiyah is 41 cases (46.07%) and 16 cases (25%), respectively. In both types of Islamic boarding schools, personal hygiene and healthy behavior were significantly associated with scabies (p < 0.05), with personal hygiene showing a strong correlation (Coefficient > 0.5). The PR estimation in Khalafi school is age (PR: 1.27), sex (PR:4.41), personal hygiene (PR: 10.87) and healthy behavior (PR: 13.27) toward scabies incidence. The PR estimation in Salafiyah is age (PR: 3.79), sex (PR: 2.03), and personal hygiene (PR: 42.64). The model found that the personal hygiene can influence the scabies incidence. The scabies incidence was found high in Khalafi compared to Salafiyah, in which personal hygiene and healthy behavior were positively significant. Exposure variable is associated with a higher likelihood of scabies incidence. Therefore, Islamic boarding schools and the Jember Health Office organize educational and training programs on personal hygiene and healthy behaviors for students.

Abstract

Prevention of osteoporosis at a young age is very necessary. Evidence suggests that modifying some lifestyle habits can help reduce the incidence of osteoporosis. However, limited research has been conducted to assess knowledge, attitudes, and lifestyles related to osteoporosis among young people. Good knowledge and attitude towards osteoporosis will result in real osteoporosis prevention actions. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate knowledge, attitudes and practices about osteoporosis in a group of students. This study was conducted using an analytical observational method using a cross-sectional design. The subjects of this study were 384 students of Universitas Prima Indonesia. Data were analyzed in univariate and bivariate forms. Bivariate analysis was used to see the difference in total scores of knowledge, attitudes and practices based on gender and field of science using the t-independent test and the Mann Whitney test. In analyzing the influence of knowledge and attitudes on the formation of practices, the Pearson product moment test was used. The results showed that the average knowledge (34.61 ± 4.77) and attitudes (28.57 ± 6.56) of students regarding osteoporosis were classified as moderate, student practices regarding osteoporosis were classified as poor (4.58 ± 2.24). The results of the bivariate test showed that there was a difference in the average total score of knowledge about osteoporosis between men and women (p = 0.021), health and non-health fields (p = 0.003). Furthermore, there was a correlation between attitudes and practices regarding osteoporosis (r: 0.144; p = 0.005). This study shows the need for the implementation of educational and awareness programs for students about risk factors and prevention of osteoporosis which must be designed based on the parameters of the health belief model.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical climate country with one of its characteristics having high rainfall and lasting relatively long. High rainfall levels cause waterlogging which has the potential to increase the number of mosquito populations. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effect of weather conditions, namely rainfall and air temperature on the possibility of a malaria outbreak. The method used is to review selected articles with a search engine via Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect by entering the keywords rainfall, climate and malaria. The search process to exclude articles used for this literature review uses the PRISMA method. And the results of the literature review show 11 articles discussing weather conditions that affect mosquito populations in Indonesia (Yogyakarta, Bengkulu and Ambon), India, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mali, Uganda and South Africa. Research in Bengkulu City and Ambon City found a negative correlation between rainfall and temperature on malaria infections. In Limpopo Province, South Africa, data shows the seasonal dynamics of the role of rainfall identified where the December to February rainy season plays a major role in influencing malaria cases in the following year. In Oyam district, Uganda, a malaria outbreak was facilitated by aquatic habitats of Anopheles near houses created by human activities, following increased rainfall.

Abstract

Stress is an adaptive reaction to a challenging condition that can threaten personal health, while stress levels are related to the amount of work/task demands that are influenced by emotions, thoughts and conditions that reduce individual positive responses. Various ways to reduce stress, one of which is physical relaxation, physical relaxation is the cheapest and easiest relaxation that is useful for minimizing anxiety when the body is working excessively by alternately relaxing the muscles. The study aims to determine the effect of physical relaxation on stress levels in Cilacap Refinery Drivers. This study used experimental research methods, with the type of Pre-Exsperimental Design. The approach used is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were all members of the Cilacap Refinery Driver as many as 60 people. The sampling technique used total sampling, so that the number of samples used amounted to 60 people. Stress levels were measured with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by univariate analysis (frequency distribution) and bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of providing physical relaxation intervention on stress levels in Cilacap Refinery Drivers with a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. Physical relaxation has an effect on reducing stress levels in Cilacap Refinery Drivers. Cilacap Refinery Drivers are expected to continue this intervention program regularly in order to minimise stress levels in drivers and can promote this intervention activity to all workers who work in the Cilacap Refinery area.
