Abstract

Abstract - The issue of global warming strongly encourages architects to use sustainable materials to preserve nature. Bamboo material is an ecological and sustainable material. Bamboo is also predicted as a future material. The strengths and advantages of bamboo are very likely to be used as a building construction material. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for bamboo material to be used inappropriately so that it does not optimize the ecological and sustainable properties of bamboo. The object of study chosen was the Bumi Pemuda Rahayu bamboo hall. This object is close to the concept of sustainability as seen from the function of the building, which is a co-creating space that prioritizes sustainability-related activities. This research uses qualitative-quantitative methods that will compare the theory regarding the concept of sustainability of materials related to the building material life cycle with the data obtained. The concept will be divided into three aspects, namely design aspects, construction aspects, and maintenance and renovation aspects. These three aspects can be examined by knowing the object data related to these aspects. The results of the study will answer whether the use of bamboo material in the object of study is in accordance with the concept of sustainability of the bamboo material. The analysis of the design stage pays attention to material selection, material preservation, how to optimize the age of bamboo and the selection of a structural system. The construction stage is analyzed by considering the type of connection used. The maintenance and renovation phases are analyzed by paying attention to how to renovate the bamboo structure and post-construction maintenance of the building. This building is appropriate in choosing the type of material, applying preservation of bamboo materials, and successfully preventing bamboo from environmental influences in order to reach its optimal age. In terms of structural system selection, this building is also appropriate by applying the arc rod structural system. Bolted joints are appropriate for complex structural systems, it's just that there must be special treatment at the base of the arc structure that receives the greatest load due to cracks. Renovation and maintenance aspects must be considered again because this building will have difficulty if you have to do renovations, especially on the arc structure. Maintenance that is rarely performed can also reduce the life of the building. Key Words: bamboo, sustainable materials, Bumi Pemuda Rahayu

Abstract

Abstract - Cities change by time to time physically and non-physically. The city development produces a distinctive character even in the smallest urban creature. This distinctive character does not take quickly but is slowly and full of challenges. Townscape is a visual impression of buildings arrangement, roads, and spaces those are expressed organically to form urban spaces. Therefore, a townscape that exists in an urban area is created on delevlopment or grows by unintentionally. Apart from that, the character of a townscape from one place is different from the other. The townscapes had been created and specific in each place. The literatures for this research are: 'The Concise Townscape', 'The Aesthetic Townscape', and 'Road Form and Townscape'. The three literatures describe the existence of townscape in Europe and Japan. This is the basic knowledge in townscape and how it is applied in Indonesia, especially in the city of Yogyakarta. The urban space chosen in this research is Padukuhan Samirono. Padukuhan Samirono is located in the north of Yogyakarta City and is very close to Gadjah Mada University and Negri Yogyakarta University. Padukuhan Samirono is known as an area that provides student accomodation. The community still stand fot maintaining their cultural habit such as gathering, cultural performances, and parades. This study examines the Townscape in Padukuhan Samirono. The social and cultural activities expressed their locality as seen as in its townscape. The pictorial analysis method identify the elements of townscapes wich effects the urban space. By describing the elements of urban space with 7 factors: nature elements, space organization, mass, proportion, activity, carving, and streetscape, the local expression criteria of Padukuhan Samirono’s can be formulated. Based on observations, the local expression of townscape on Samirono changes into a modern form. This research attempts to enhance people’s aprrectiation about townscape, especially townscape in Indonesia. Key Words: townscape, pictorial analysis, Samirono, Javanese, locality

Abstract

Abstract - Cinema and Architecture are two art media that dependent on some human senses to give experience and define space compared of other art medium. These two media have been trying to show and convince film viewers or architecture users as a work of art. Both have quality value that will be higher if they can be as close to reality. However, architecture tend to use visual but lack of emotions. As a result, buildings left us as only a viewers without invite us to engaged. Therefore, from cinema to architecture, the thinking of thematic conditions of architecture can be brought together with conceptual, contextual, architectonic, and technical. Ave Maryam (2020) is a film that takes place in Semarang, and Kompleks Susteran St. Fransiskus is the main setting that interesting to studied. From each scene it can clearly describe space with a visual composition to convey a strong spatial experience. Departing from an approach to cinema that is parallel to architecture so that the audience can experience spaces outside the formal architectural experience. The purpose of this study is to identify cinematic themes that can be discussed and reconstruct the cinematic space as a search for understanding the potential and meaning of cinematic in Kompleks Kesusteran St. Fransiskus based on the film Ave Maryam (2020). By using a qualitative descriptive method, from data that achieved by literature studies and film observations. It can be concluded that the existing approaches to architecture and cinema from Ave Maryam (2020) can be interpreted to build a concept that achieves the beauty and experience experienced in architecture such as watching the film. Key Words: cinematic, architecture and film, cinematic approach, Ave Maryam, Komplek Kesusteran St. Fransiskus, Semarang.

Abstract

Abstract - The Bogor Karesidenan Building is one of the colonial architectural heritage buildings located around the Bogor Palace and Botanical Gardens. Registered as one of the cultural heritage buildings of the 24 buildings that have been determined by the Mayor of Bogor based on PERMENBUDPAR NO. PM.26/PW.007/MKP/2007. This building is located in a government and service trade area, causing many modern buildings to be built around the Bogor Karesidenan Building in line with the development of Bogor City. Changes that exist in cultural heritage buildings as a form of adaptation to these developments cannot be avoided, especially in existing colonial heritage buildings. There has not been a classification in the Bogor City Regional Regulation, so efforts to maintain the authenticity of cultural heritage buildings will be difficult where class classification is very important in the context of building conservation. One of the efforts that can be done to prevent these changes is to determine the classification of preservation in the Bogor Karesidenan Building. This study aims to identify and analyze the shape of the architectural visual and spatial character by looking at the shape of the elements in the building to determine the classification of building preservation. This research is a form of qualitative research using descriptive data analysis methods, comparative methods to compare the forms of existing building elements and classification methods to determine the classification of building preservation. From the results of a descriptive analysis of the spatial elements and visual elements of the building, the Bogor Karesidenan Building is included in the Class A building, because the assessment of the authenticity of the building is more dominant than the assessment of changing elements. This research is only limited to architectural values that become architectural data, as for determining this building to be classified as a cultural heritage building, a similar academic study is needed from other aspects related to structural, mechanical and electrical data and environmental planning. Abstract

Abstract - Al-Imtizaj Mosque in Bandung has a Chinese-Islamic acculturated building design. By using the old and modified building, it can change the function of the building, that is what the Al Imtizaj Mosque does. Changing the function of the building, there is a change in the element of Qi energy which according to Feng Shui is very important for the welfare of the building and building users. How can these building modifications create or produce appropriate "Qi" energy for places of worship based on the Feng Shui Theory of the flow of forms and the five elements? This study aims to determine the suitability of Qi energy resulting from the modification of the Al Imtizaj building according to Feng Shui Theory for worship buildings. As well as providing benefits so that the Al Imtizaj Bandung mosque building can be used as a cultural heritage building with cultural preservation. The research method used is descriptive exploratory where this study describes and assesses objects that are supported by existing literature data. Abstract

Abstract - A healthy lifestyle has become rife in recent years. The pressures of urban life make more people aware and start to care about health and well-being. A regular diet, balanced nutritional intake, and various types of sports become a new lifestyles. People are starting to look for a place to take a temporary break, one of which is eco-tourism. Returning to nature is believed to be able to restore the energy used. The widespread need for open space that supports a healthy lifestyle in the community has encouraged various business actors to fulfill it. Gardens at the hotel no longer function as a mere green area. Several hotels that have developed a design concept based on a healthy lifestyle have begun to arrange their gardens. However, the arrangement of the gardens at these hotels is generally still not sufficient to serve as a support for a healthy lifestyle for visitors. Therefore, this study examines the concept of a healthy garden in a boutique hotel landscape based on healthy lifestyle. This qualitative research uses an exploratory descriptive method on the two selected precedents, namely Klub Bunga Boutique Resort and Park Royal on Pickering based on related issues. The conclusion of this study is a general guideline for designing healthy gardens in boutique hotels, although it is still necessary to take into account the local context. Abstract

Abstract - Government buildings should have a symbolic value that represents the area. The development of architecture in an area influences the development of the culture of the region, with the abandonment of the element of the architectural locality over time the element of the locality will become extinct. Based on these problems and phenomena, it produces quite important issues especially the acculturation of government buildings that can characterize the locality of a place. So that the research conducted is very important to answer how to produce local and modern concepts that are appropriate to the Serang Regent building design that characterizes the local socio-cultural context of the people of Banten. The purpose of this study was to obtain design guidelines and design simulations in realizing the acculturation identity of local architecture (Banten) and non-local (modern) in the design of the Serang Regent's Pendopo building. The theory applied in this study refers to (1) the archetypes theory in architecture and (2) the ordering principle theory in architecture. Besides that, the methods used in this research are descriptive, qualitative and interpretative that can be used in conducting studies and in–depth searches of the object, the precedent studies that are Pontianak mayor government building and Solok regent government building. The results of the analysis of the object of the study of precedents against the theory with the method that has been described are to obtain specific design guidelines for the Serang Regent's Pendopo building. This research is expected to provide benefits to the community on the importance of localities in preserving and building local culture and architecture and can add to the wealth of existing architectural knowledge for both academics and practitioners and make a positive contribution to local governments for making regional regulations. Abstract

Abstract - Signage is one of the elements that form the face of the region, and is a medium of information at the micro and macro levels. Signs are an important item as a transmitter of information for observers, placing the sign correctly will have a very good effect as a source of information. The need for a system/signage to convey information in the form of signs that show the direction of getting better and developing, for crowds of people or masses who need information on directions. The information provided is experience, exposure, and knowledge of the area. Settlements that develop organically are widely spread across the most populous provinces in Indonesia. Braga settlement is located in the economic center of the city of Bandung, the organic settlement area has little information about the area, it is still scattered sporadically (only at the entrance in the form of a gate), not connected to one another in the area and there is no signage facility. Areas that do not have road information can turn into an unpleasant atmosphere and find it difficult to know the way for individuals to access the road for the first time, but people and people who are accustomed to accessing Braga residential roads have no difficulty in finding roads with object identification signs and elements that can be understood and understood. considered as signage. The purpose of using roads in residential areas is to provide alternative access to the other side of the city. This research is exploratory and uses qualitative methods, literature review, and conceptual proposals. Roads within the area can be an alternative way to go to different places, roads within the area have different entry and exit access, many branching alleys, and multi-story buildings inside. The area is confusing and difficult to orientate. Keywords: signage, street, visual, settlement, Braga Bandung

Abstract

Abstract - The development of the city of Bandung is very rapid with the emergence of modern buildings coloring the face of Bandung in almost all cities, this situation is caused by the increasingly diverse needs of the city, cultural heritage buildings are also affected, because their functions are changed according to the needs of their owners. There are many cultural heritage buildings whose functions have changed but do not pay attention to the authenticity of the buildings so that their condition becomes alarming, of the many cultural heritage buildings in Bandung, only a few of which are still visible in their authenticity even though their functions have changed. This study will raise the issue of the effect of changing functions on the authenticity of cultural heritage buildings with a focus on function and form, with the case study of Gedung Tiga Warna. This qualitative research puts forward a new way of reading that combines the Function-Form-Construction theory and the Preservation theory. The Tiga Warna Building, from the outside, still looks authentic, but many of the interior processing has changed from the original, due to the change in function from residential and office buildings to BTPN bank buildings. However, the original form is sought to be maintained, among others by using the same or similar materials as the original, both exterior and interior. The benefits of this research are expected to contribute to architectural knowledge for the community, input for academics and students of Architecture, as well as input for policy makers in formulating strategies for preserving cultural heritage buildings. Key words : Changes in function, authenticity, heritage building, Gedung Tigawarna.

Abstract

Abstract - College is a place for most students to study higher. Many students who come from outside the city or region look for schools and colleges in cities that are not their hometowns. So they have to find a place to stay to rest in their daily lives. The government helps the housing needs for students by building student flats or better known as dormitories in locations close to schools or colleges. In the utilization, use and management of dormitories, there are often several room changes as a result of the need for facilities and infrastructure. Changes in the function of the room can reduce the reliability value if done without taking into account several aspects. Assessment of building reliability is an important factor in checking the condition of a building. The purpose of this research is a study of the analysis of building reliability in the field of architecture to the student flats of St. Teresa Avilla, Semarang after 5 (five) years of residence. Does it still meet the applicable standards and regulations or the reliability values are no longer valid. The research method used is descriptive and qualitative based on the physical conditions at the time of the research. And then the physical condition of the building is reviewed based on applicable regulations and existing theories. It can be concluded that there are several rooms that no longer meet the building reliability requirements, but most of them are still very feasible and in accordance with the needs. Suggestions can also be given to improve so that the condition and reliability values can be maintained. Keywords: flat, building reliability, reliability evaluation
