Abstract

Storage of pharmaceutical dosage forms and single-use medical devices is a regulation of the pharmaceutical dosage forms received to be safe (not to lost), to avoid physical and chemical damage and the quality remains guaranteed, in accordance with the requirements set. This research aimed to find out the profile of drug storage in Tamalanrea Jaya subdistrict community Health Center in Makassar City. This research was a descriptive study. The informant in this study was the Head of Pharmaceutical Installation of Tamalanrea Jaya Makassar Health Center. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations. The results of the study stated that infrastructure facilities meeting the prevailing regulation in drug storage warehouses according to conformity percentage were 81%. The organisation of drugs in the storage warehouse of community Health Center Pharmaceutical Installation by 85% was carried out based on the standards. The card stock of the drug was fulfilled, which the percentage of conformity indicated 100%.

Abstract

Loquat leaf (Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl.)  have been known to contain flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids and glycosides, these compounds have the potential to be antioxidants and can ward off free radicals. The purpose of this study was to determine the fraction of n-hexane ethyl acetate and water with extract of loquat leaf which have antioxidant activity, and to find out, respectively, which fraction had the most active activity from the IC50 value in activity antioxidant. The extraction method of loquat was macerated using 96% ethanol and then fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water. The obtained fraction was tested for antioxidant activity against free radicals using the DPPH method using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at the wavelength of 516 nm. The results of the loquat leaf fraction test have antioxidant activity which can be seen from the IC50 value, namely the n-hexane fraction is 1792 ppm, the ethyl acetate fraction is 89.60 ppm, the water fraction is 394.99 ppm, and quercetin is 13.03 ppm, so the most active antioxidant is obtained ethyl acetate

Abstract

The Wole Woe plant is one of the plants that is empirically used as traditional medicine by the Weda community in Central Halmahera Regency. The stem part of the Wole Woe plant is used to treat various diseases. This study aims to determine the toxicity of Wole Woe logs using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. This research was started by extracting Wole Woe logs using ethanol 70% solvent with the reflux method and then carried out phytochemical screening which showed that Wole Woe logs contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, and tannins compounds. Toxicity testing of Wole Woe wood stem ethanol extract against Artemia salina Leach larvae was divided into 5 test groups, namely 4 treatment groups (concentrations of 250 ppm, 500 ppm, 750 ppm, and 1000 ppm) and 1 control or comparison group (sea water). Each concentration was made in 3 vials containing 10 larvae of Artemia salina Leach. Observations were made by looking at the mortality of Artemia salina Leach larvae after 24 hours of treatment. The results of the study can be seen through probit analysis by calculating the LC50 value. The LC50 of the ethanol extract of Wole Woe logs is 453.942 ± 59.564 g/mL. This indicated that the ethanolic extract of Wole Woe logs had a toxic effect on Artemia salina Leach larvae because the LC50 value was< 1000 ppm

Abstract

Endophyte fungi generally produce secondary metabolites which have biological activities such as anticancer, antiviral, or antibacterial compounds. The endophytic fungi isolate of FM 2 code is one of the endophytic fungi samples of dragon tail leaf (Rhaphidophora pinnata (L.f.) Schott) because it has the best activities. The research aimed to isolate DNA samples of the dragon-tail leaves and to identify the endophytic fungi isolates through macroscopic and microscopic observations. The significance of DNA isolation can be found through electrophoresis, which will show DNA band under the UV light. The results showed that the sample the endophytic fungi isolates on FM 2 code was identified conventionally by observing its morphological characters through macroscopic and microscopic identification compared to literature, showing the similarities to the genus Mucor sp. which will show DNA band under the UV light. The results showed that the sample of endophytic fungi was isolated by a transiluminator UV lamp indicating that the sample was successfully isolated

Abstract

Chronic exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun might result in oxidative stress, changes in the structure and composition of the skin. Sunscreen preparations are recommended to be used to prevent or minimize the harmful effects of UV rays on the skin. Sunscreen can be obtained from natural ingredients, one of which is the flower of cherry (Muntingia calabura L.). This study aims to identify the content of flavonoids and test the sunscreen activity of the ethanol extract of cherry flower (Muntingia calabura L.) in vitro using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method based on the SPF value. Flavonoids are claimed to be capable to blocking ultraviolet (UV) light-induced radicals that have a protective effect against UV radiation, where the SPF value is a universal measure that describes the potency of a UV defense material. The findings of this study showed that the ethanol extract of cherry flowers positively contained flavonoid compounds including the flavonol, flavanone, and anthocyanidin groups. The results of the sunscreen activity test showed that the ethanol extract of cherry flowers had sunscreen activity at a concentration of 0.01% with an SPF value of 10.9 (moderate SPF), 0.05% with an SPF value of 41.6 (high SPF), 0,15% with an SPF value of 45.5 (high SPF). and 0.25% with an SPF value of 48.7 (high SPF). The higher the extract concentration, the higher the SPF value indicating the greater the activity as sunscreen.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a disease caused by a glucose metabolism disorder due to lack of insulin indicated by high levels of glucose in the blood due damage in pancreatic 3 cells or insulin resistance. The research aimed to determine the effect and effective dosage of ethanol extract of seagrass to decrease glucose levels of diabetic mellitus in rats. It used 15 rats divided into 5 treatment groups, namely negative groups (NaCMC), positive group (Glibenclamide), tested extract group with the doses of 0,25 g/kgBW, 0,5 g/kgBW and 0,75 g/kgBW respectively. Alloxan induction at a dose of 0,13 g/kgBW was given intraperitoneally once a day orally for 14 days. Blood glucose level measurement was carried out before induction, after induction and after glucometer therapy. The result was statistically analyzed using the One Way Anova followed by the Bonferoni Post Hoc test and showed that the ethanol extract of seagrass leaves had a deep effect in reducing the blood glucose level of rats induced by alloxan at 750 mg/kgBW as the effective dose.
