Abstract

The architecture of the traditional buildings of Hindu people in Bali is a form of implementation of the combination of material and spiritual dimensions. The combination of these two dimensions form the energy and strength in the building that is created, so as to provide a sense of comfort and quiet in the person who occupy it. In the belief of the people of Bali, the process of building construction is not just to build, but done with the stages and planning, both from good days up to the means of ceremony. This is because the building is not only used as a residence, but also used as a place to carry out various ceremonial activities. Strong spiritual values can be felt in the traditional Balinese house architecture that is now widely seen by many tourists who visit Bali. this is because the energy radiated from the building is a representation of the spiritual value which is the power of the gods bersthana on the building that makes people see the calm and awe of the spirit value contained in it.

Abstract

Balinese language has some unique color nomenclatures. How those colors are categorized into different nomenclatures becomes the first concern of this study. Then, why those nomenclatures are linguistically unique and exist culturally in different ways is the second question. NSM (Natural Semantic Metalanguage) is used both in theory and method. Since some Balinese terms are inexplicable through semantic primes of the NSM, linguistic relativity theory is used to dig descriptive meanings and concepts of those color nomenclatures in Balinese cultural linguistic realm. The study finds that there are four color nomenclatures in Balinese language, and those nomenclatures are different mainly because of religious and historical backgrounds.

Abstract

Science that has developed to this day seems to shift the role of the logic of Theo-logos, namely science that is still supported by divine values or religion. Before humans recognize the logic of science as a tool to understand truth, humans initially seek truth by using mythical logic so that myth is called pre-logic. Between myth and science or logos has the same role, which is to be an answer to chaos in understanding a natural phenomenon. One of the pre-logical phenomena is found in literary works of various myths or legends. Some of them are the myth of Watugunung and the legend of Sangkuriang. Both works are urgently studied in the comparative literature study paradigm, because they contain the same substance, namely the incest and symbolism of the siwaistic understanding of the archipelago. The focus of the issue that will be discussed in this study is how is sexual relations in the Watugunung Myth and Sangkuriang Legend as theological symbolization?
