Abstract

Motor skills are important skills that must be possessed by every student because it has an influence on the overall student development. However, various obstacles that affect the achievement of students' motor skills often occur during the implementation of motor skill learning. The purpose of this research was to find learning activities that can stimulate motor skills of elementary school students. Experiments were carried out using One-Group Pre-test Post-test Design. Participants of the study were 126 first grade elementary school students, consisting of 76 males and 50 females aged 6-6.5 years. The sampling technique used the total sampling method. The data collection technique used the Test of Gross Motor Skill-Second Edition (TGMD-2) with an observation sheet instrument. The analysis employed SPSS 20 with a paired sample test. The results showed that there was an increase in the post-test mean score compared to the pre-test mean score with a significant increase. This increase occurred because traditional games used a play-based approach and encouraged students to use their motor skills. For that reason, traditional games are effective in improving motor skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of using an Elevation Training Mask (ETM) with the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Training Method on physiological abilities based on aerobic capacity. This research was an experimental study with a 2x2 factorial design. This study used aerobic and anaerobic physical component test instruments. This study involved 20 female futsal players as participants. Data analysis used statistical calculations with the help of the SPSS application. The results of the study showed that there was no increase in the physiological abilities of female futsal players based on the use of ETM. It indicated that there was an increase in the physiological ability of female futsal players based on aerobic abilities and there was no interaction between the use of ETM and aerobic capacity in increasing the physiological abilities of female futsal players. This study also concluded that female futsal players with high aerobic capacity were more effective than female futsal players with low aerobic capacity using the HIIT training method, both with high aerobic capacity using ETM and not using ETM compared to low aerobic capacity using ETM or without ETM. Apart from that, there was no interaction found. The implication of the research result shows that, in physical training, the training method must be adjusted to the aerobic capacity of the player by paying more attention to the principles of the training and specificity. Besides that, it is necessary to carry out further research using ETM to see the effect in lung capacity, so that it would be more comprehensive.

Abstract

Alcohol is widely used in the world. Either for happiness or resolving problems, college students continue to have interaction with alcoholic drinks. This paper was aimed to examine the connection  between alcohol intake and scholastic performance of second-year college students who took Physical Education subject in Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology. The authors employed descriptive-correlational design with 115 students as samples out of 377 participated respondents. One set of adopted, contextualized, and tested 15-items of types of drinker instrument gaining excellent Cronbach’s alpha was used. Academic grades had been acquired and generated from an electronic database school system for academic records of the students. The findings discovered that the general level of alcohol consumption of the students was moderate, while the overall educational performance score was generally determined as satisfactory. The students aged 15 to 17 years gained f value 6758.46 (p0.01), while the students aged 18 to 20 years gained f=3564.71 (p0.01). Each of the result defined the sizable distinction within the alcohol consumption of college students. Meanwhile, the investigation also observed an extensive distinction in the level of alcohol use analyzed by gender (f=1780.55; p0.01). Courses and study time parameters did not show statistically significant difference in alcohol consumption. Finally, alcohol intake was not significantly correlated to instructional performance. Furthermore, the problem and high-risk of drinking in students had been found out for the maximum salience of the study.  A functional and sustainable moral recovery program of each school organization that includes risk assessment, alcohol and drug education, mental health, physical exercises, games and sports, and recreational activities is recommended.

Abstract

Shooting skills are very complex, and often athletes have to be faced with situations that require one shot to get a perfect score and need to maintain concentration and the pull of the trigger. This study aimed to analyze the difference in progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) exercise on increasing concentration and performance scores of 10-meter shooting. A total of 12 athletes (seven female dan five males) in Purwakarta were recruited for this study. They were randomly assigned to the two groups, the PMR group (n = 6) and the control (n = 6). The instruments used were the Concentration Grid Test to measure concentration while the 60 shots of both men and women of 10-meter shooting scores for a performance test. Data analysis using MANCOVA was performed using shooting scores and concentration as the dependent variable and covariates to determine their performance. They can be differentiated based on conventional training methods, progressive muscle relaxation, and the interaction of these factors. The results of the MANCOVA indicated a significant main effect for exercise methods, and it was revealed that differences in exercise methods had a significant effect on concentration and shooting scores. When athletes are faced with the demands of top performance, PMR training is a very economical but efficient and effective strategy for dealing with several problems. This helps athletes self-control and focus their attention during stressful situations and can be used to maintain physical, technical, and mental balance.
