Abstract

Mood disorders are a frequent complaint experienced by women during menopause due to hormonal changes. Physical exercise is known to reduce depression, but research on menopausal women is limited. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of physical exercise on depression in menopausal women. The study design used was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test for 16 weeks. The measuring instrument used was a GDS (Geriatric Depression Scale). The research subjects consisted of 34 menopausal women aged 45-65 years. Subjects were divided into two groups, including the physical exercise group (2x90 minutes/week, n=17) and the control group (n=17). The results showed that physical exercise significantly decreased depression (p=0.013) in the physical exercise group compared to the control group. It concludes that regular exercise is effective for preventing and treating mood disorders that occur when menopause.

Abstract

Karate is a popular and often played martial sport. Due to the limited recovery period experienced by karate athletes during matches, they must employ an appropriate recovery plan in order to regain their initial condition. Watermelon research has become popular in recent years for application in sports. This clinical trial used one crossover design. The participants in this study were young karate athletes supported by the West Java student education and training center. The subject will undergo two periods: the first during which he or she will not consume any watermelon juice, and the second during which he or she will consume 500ml of watermelon juice daily for seven days. The data collection procedure includes measuring perceived recovery status to evaluate the degree of perceived recovery, and also anaerobic ability through a running-anaerobic sprint test. After the sample had completed the protocol in the form of a match simulation, measurements were taken. The results indicated that drinking watermelon juice had a significant effect on perceived recovery status 48 hours after and 72 hours after the treatment. However, after consuming watermelon juice, there was no significant difference in the athlete's anaerobic abilities. Consumption of watermelon juice can aid athletes in their recovery process, which has an effect on the athlete's reported recovery state. It does not, however, contribute to the recovery of anaerobic capability.

Abstract

Measurement of Body Composition (BC) is carried out for various purposes, such as uniting the growth and development of athletes and determining motor performance, physical activity, changes in body composition, as well as nutritional interventions. This study aimed to determine the relationship between Body Composition (BC) and anaerobic ability of female futsal players aged 17-19 years. Twenty female futsal players participated in this study. Muscle mass, Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Fat Percentage, Water Percentage, Protein Percentage, Basal Metabolism, Visceral Fat, and Bone Mass were measured to determine the fat percentage of bone, air, and muscle in the body. Measurement of body composition was also intended to detect the food intake needed by the body and obtain information relevant to disease prevention and treatment. The Running Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) was conducted to measure the anaerobic endurance. The research method used was a descriptive correlation with a quantitative approach. The finding showed no correlation between Running Based Anaerobic Sprint and Body Fat Percentage, Water Percentage, Protein Percentage, Basal Metabolism, and Visceral Fat. However, there was a positive relationship between Muscle Mass, Body Mass Index (BMI), Bone Mass of the samples, and their Running Based Anaerobic Sprint (p0.05). It concludes that the score of Muscle mass, Body Mass Index (BMI), and Bone Mass affected the anaerobic capacity of female futsal players aged 17-19 years. The normal status of body composition and body fat percentage can be maintained through maintaining consumption patterns and increasing physical activity.

Abstract

The achievement of a Pencak Silat athlete is expected to increase if it is supported by a good anaerobic capacity and provided with an effective program according to their needs, namely the interval training program. This study aimed to determine the effect of interval training on increasing anaerobic capacity related to the performance of Pencak Silat athletes. This research used the ex post facto method with correlation research. The sample of this study was Pencak Silat Athletes of West Java regional training center facing the XX PON 2020 in Papua, totaling 20 athletes (age 26.25+4.216, height 170.70+3.658, weight 64.50+11.048, practice experience 8.35+3.602). The sampling technique used was total sampling. The test instrument used the Running Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) to measure the anaerobic capacity of a 6-week exercise. The data analysis technique used statistical analysis with t-test and r-test employing SPSS 25. The results showed an effect of interval training on anaerobic capacity related to the performance of Pencak Silat athletes. The t-test shows that the anaerobic capacity value has a sig (2-tailed) 0.0290.05. The results of the r-test showed a significance value of 0.0000.05, meaning that there was a significant relationship between the anaerobic capacity of Pencak Silat athletes and their performance after interval training. Interval training can increase the athlete's Vo2Max and can be used as an exercise method to increase the athlete's Vo2Max without a high risk of injury for the athletes.

Abstract

As the level of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) decreased, more institutions and organizations began to conduct basketball competitions as a result of the broad popularity of the sport. The intensity of practice has increased as a result of the competitive atmosphere. As a result of increased training intensity, there is an increase in player injuries sustained during practice or competition. This study aimed to explore basketball coaches' beliefs toward injury in student-athletes, particularly at the high school and university levels. The study employed a survey approach, with the target group consisting of basketball coaches at the high school and university levels in Malang, East Java. According to the study's findings, individual factors affecting players put the most significant pressure to play during an injury. Additionally, the coach is the second most influential factor in pressuring injured players to play, trailing only teammates and parents. Among the themes that emerged from this study on injury-related knowledge and beliefs were the determination to win, the significant role of the participants, and the ability to serve as a source of motivation for other players.
