Abstract

The selection of metal as a construction material used for the industrial world is an important factor that is in accordance with industrial provisions. Corrosion is a factor that must be considered due to the corrosion impact of damage can cause losses in various aspects. AISI 304 stainless steel is one of the stainless steel materials that is resistant to corrosion so that it is widely used in several industries. The corrosion protection in AISI 304 stainless steel has to be carried out with the method of using corrosion inhibitors and protective coatings so that it can reduce damage and extend the life of the AISI 304 stainless steel metal material. Electrochemistry and weight loss methods are used in testing so that the corrosion rate of AISI 304 stainless steel material can be known in various temperature, salinity, and electrolyte solution. The results of temperature variations show that the corrosion rate decreases with increasing temperature and immersion time. The results showed that the higher salinity level of the water media produced the higher the corrosion rate. In the variation of electrolyte solution, the best corrosion resistance of AISI 304 stainless steel occurs in electrolyte solutions with low concentrations. In addition, the mechanical loading study indicates that the magnitude of the loading causes the corrosion rate to increase. In this case, to inhibit corrosion by considering temperature factors, water salinity media environment, chemical substances around the material, and mechanical loads, it is important to carry out corrosion protection in order to slow down the corrosion rate so that it is more effective in its application, minimize damage and loss and extend the life of the AISI 304 stainless steel metal material used sector, the selection of metal as a construction material used for the industrial world is an important factor that is in accordance with industrial provisions. Abstract

The main issue is the gap in digital literacy competence among mechanical engineering education lecturers due to the lack of adequate training, support, and facilities from the institution. This research used a systematic literature review approach to identify the gaps in digital literacy among mechanical engineering education lecturers. A systematic literature review was conducted, starting with exploration, evaluation, and presentation of data from previous studies that discuss digital literacy competence for lecturers, especially in the context of mechanical engineering education. A total of 100 international articles published between 2018 and 2024 were reviewed based on keywords and research findings. After the review, 66 relevant international articles were identified and can be used as the foundation for this research. The results of the study show that digital literacy competencies for lecturers in mechanical engineering education are crucial in improving the quality of teaching and student competencies to face the challenges of Industry 4.0. Intensive and ongoing training programs can enhance lecturers' abilities to master technology, with the prospects of this research focusing on cybersecurity, digital ethics, and more structured training programs to support innovative mechanical engineering education, thus meeting the demands of the ever-evolving job market. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive synthesis of digital literacy challenges and potential solutions in mechanical engineering education, emphasizing the urgent need for structured and targeted training programs. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on identifying specific gaps in digital competencies within this discipline, highlighting key areas such as cybersecurity and digital ethics, which have been underexplored in previous studies.

Abstract

Education and learning are developing in accordance with the development of science and technology. The education quality could be improved by changing a conventional learning media into learning media that can increase student motivation so that students can more easily understand the learning material. This research aims to develop and design edutainment-based learning media using the Canva application in the subject of Mechanical Engineering Drawing. The research was carried out using the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model, which must go through a validation process from experts as a successful process of the feasibility test of the product developed before it is later used by students. This research offers a novelty by integrating specific edutainment elements in the Canva application for Machine Engineering Drawing learning, which has not been explored much in this context before. This innovation creates a more interactive and engaging learning experience, expected to significantly improve material comprehension and retention compared to conventional methods. The results of the feasibility test of edutainment-based mechanical engineering drawing learning media using the Canva application obtained a percentage of 96% from material expert validators, 88% from media expert validators, and 86% from the results of the learning media feasibility test conducted by students. From the results of the test, it can be concluded that Edutainment-Based Mechanical Engineering Drawing Learning Media Using the Canva Application "Very Feasible" is used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the potential of corn cob and cocoa shell waste as a renewable energy source and develop effective technology to convert these wastes into renewable energy, as well as test the efficiency and safety of using alternative fuels produced from corn cob and cocoa shell waste. The stages of this research start from the stage of making briquettes and testing the physical briquettes and water boiling tests. The results showed that corn cob and cocoa shell waste can be converted into biomass that can be used as an energy source. The charcoal briquettes produced from corn cob waste and cocoa peels have a high calorific value, so they can be used as an effective energy source. In addition, the use of corn cob and cocoa shell waste as an energy source can reduce the amount of waste generated and environmental pollution caused by burning waste. Corn cobs and cocoa pods have good thermal properties to be used as biomass fuel in renewable energy generation systems. The study evaluated the physical quality based on variation of corn cobs and cocoa shells mixture composition. The physical quality to be analyzed were stability, density, thermal properties, and heat of combustion. With the right process, these two wastes can be a solution for environmentally friendly energy needs, while providing economic benefits for farmers. Proper management of these wastes can accelerate the shift towards renewable energy, reduce waste and mitigate negative environmental impacts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of groove angle on the tensile strength, impact toughness, and hardness of A356 cast aluminum and to determine the most optimal groove angle for welding A356 cast aluminum. The research method used was a pure experiment by conducting tensile, impact, and hardness tests on welding specimens with groove angles of 0°, 30°, 55°, and 75°.  The test results showed that the 75o groove angle had advantages over other groove angles with a maximum stress of 26.396 N/mm2, a maximum strain of 10.341%, an elastic modulus of 1625.144 N/mm2, an impact toughness of 0.1518 J/mm2, and a Vickers hardness of 24.7 HVN. Based on the test results, it was concluded that the groove angle of 75o is the most optimal angle for welding A356 cast aluminum in the context of repairing cast aluminum products.

Abstract

Learning media continues to develop and become an important component that supports the learning process because it can improve the quality of learning, help increase student engagement, and make lessons more accessible. The utilisation of learning media has some weaknesses such as not being able to display the original movement in practice and less interactive. These weaknesses can be overcome through media customization and development. Quality education can be realized by changing conventional media into learning media that is more appropriate and easier to understand. This study aims to develop and design learning video media for clutch system maintenance subject matter in Light Vehicle Chassis and Powertrain Maintenance subjects according to material experts, media experts, and media feasibility tests on students. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method and uses the 4D development model. The results of the feasibility test of video-based learning media resulted 95.29% from material expert validators, 86.66% from media expert validators, and 88% from the results of the media feasibility test results of 30 students. Based on the overall results of the product feasibility test indicate that video-based learning media is considered very feasible for use in learning.
