Abstract

This research is a type of correlational research. This research was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Patuk Gunungkidul. The purpose was used to see what the implementation of BK/BP was like in the TBSM department, as well as to see how high the relationship between guidance & counseling, and discipline in the TBSM department. Only 120 students majoring in motorcycle engineering and business were the research subjects. Data on the implementation of BK/BP on student discipline was collected through questionnaires, data collection on the implementation of BK/BP programs using documents and pictures of students who do not obey school rules. Research hypothesis questions were answered using product moment correlation analysis. The results of the study explained that guidance and counseling are well implemented at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Patuk, and showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between guidance & counseling services and student behavior discipline. An r value of 0.351 (p = 0.05) was found through correlation calculations, indicating a weak positive relationship. A positive relationship means student discipline will increase as guidance and counseling services increase, and vice versa. It can be concluded that guidance and counseling services can improve student discipline. To make the research findings more generalizable, it is suggested that future studies with similar titles do so by testing a larger sample. Keywords: Guidance and Counseling, Discipline, Relationship

Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the level of student satisfaction with the application of the project-based learning (PBL) model in the 2D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) course. The research method used is a survey and data analysis involving students who take 2D CAD courses and are involved in project-based learning. This research includes collecting data from students through a questionnaire specifically designed to assess student perceptions of the PBL learning model, level of involvement in project activities, understanding of the material, and overall level of satisfaction. The data was then analyzed quantitatively to evaluate the level of student satisfaction with PBL in the 2D CAD course. The results of this research showed that the level of student satisfaction with project based learning in CAD courses reached a maximum average score of 68% in the satisfaction category, this states that students were satisfied with learning project based learning in 2D CAD courses. This research provides insight into the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning learning model in increasing student satisfaction in 2D CAD courses, which can be used to optimize teaching methods in the future. Abstract

Understanding basic technical drawings is an essential competency for vocational high school students in the field of mechanical engineering to support their readiness for industry demands. This study aims to reveal the extent of understanding of basic technical drawings among students of SMK Piri Sleman Yogyakarta. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach. The study population consists of 26 students from the XI and XII grades of the Mechanical Engineering expertise program. The data collection method used is a test method with question instruments to measure students' understanding of basic technical drawings. The research findings indicate that the average level of student understanding of technical drawings is 80,57, with the highest score being 92,5 and the lowest score being 67,5. The understanding level for grade XI in mechanical engineering is 79,37, while for grade XII, it is 81,60. Students demonstrated the highest understanding in the topic of the function of technical drawings, while the lowest understanding was in geometric construction. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the level of understanding of basic technical drawings among students in the mechanical engineering expertise program is relatively good.

Abstract

The Mechanical Engineering Education study program has students with various backgrounds, so the study program needs to identify why its students have various backgrounds, looking at the factors that influence them. The results of this identification are used as material for designing learning and marketing strategies to the community. The aim of this research is to find out what factors influence students in choosing a study program. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research using a questionnaire in the form of Google Form for data collection. The data processing procedures used include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The respondents involved were 60 students from the Mechanical Engineering Education study program, consisting of bachelor and master levels. The results of this research are that there are several factors that influence students in choosing a Mechanical Engineering Education study program, namely image, ambitions, job prospects, and interests. The interest factor influences the most, namely 18 students or around 30%, the image factor influences 13 students or around 21.6%, the ambitions factor influences 12 students or around 20%, and the job prospects factor influences 12 students or around 20%. A total of 5 students or around 8.3% chose a study program that was not according to their wishes or was forced to do so. All these factors positively influence students in choosing the Mechanical Engineering Education study program, because most students choose study programs because of their own wishes, while only a small percentage do not match their wishes.

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to answer problems in terms of learning basic machining practices where increasingly advanced technology requires the use of equipment and teaching materials that are increasingly advanced as well to form student competencies needed by the world of work. This study aims to determine the needs of students in learning basic machining practices at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education FT UNY. The research method used is descriptive quantitative using a free description questionnaire in the form of Google Form as a data collection instrument. The population of this study were the 1st year students of the Mechanical Engineering Education study program, while the sample was the 33 students of 1st year students at Mechanical Engineering Education study program who were taking basic machining practice courses. The results of the research showed that 100% of students stated that it needs improvement on workshop facilities and infrastructure, 33.3% of students stated the needs to increase the skills and abilities of lecturers, 36.4% of students stated the needs of the skills and abilities of technicians, and 42.4% of students stated the needs of improvement on teaching materials. In conclusion, students need improvement in various aspects of learning, even though some students are satisfied with their current learning.

Abstract

The main issue is the gap in digital literacy competence among mechanical engineering education lecturers due to the lack of adequate training, support, and facilities from the institution. This research used a systematic literature review approach to identify the gaps in digital literacy among mechanical engineering education lecturers. A systematic literature review was conducted, starting with exploration, evaluation, and presentation of data from previous studies that discuss digital literacy competence for lecturers, especially in the context of mechanical engineering education. A total of 100 international articles published between 2018 and 2024 were reviewed based on keywords and research findings. After the review, 66 relevant international articles were identified and can be used as the foundation for this research. The results of the study show that digital literacy competencies for lecturers in mechanical engineering education are crucial in improving the quality of teaching and student competencies to face the challenges of Industry 4.0. Intensive and ongoing training programs can enhance lecturers' abilities to master technology, with the prospects of this research focusing on cybersecurity, digital ethics, and more structured training programs to support innovative mechanical engineering education, thus meeting the demands of the ever-evolving job market. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive synthesis of digital literacy challenges and potential solutions in mechanical engineering education, emphasizing the urgent need for structured and targeted training programs. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on identifying specific gaps in digital competencies within this discipline, highlighting key areas such as cybersecurity and digital ethics, which have been underexplored in previous studies.

Abstract

Peningkatan kompetensi guru dalam menyusun dan mengembangkan materi ajar serta memilih model pembelajaran yang tepat menjadi faktor penting dalam mencapai hasil belajar siswa yang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besaran peningkatan kompetensi guru pada aspek: (1) pembuatan materi ajar, (2) pengembangan materi ajar, dan (3) pemilihan model pembelajaran, melalui pelatihan yang terstruktur. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pretest-posttest satu kelompok. Pelatihan dilaksanakan melalui tiga kegiatan utama: penyusunan materi ajar, pengembangan materi ajar, dan pemilihan model pembelajaran, yang dikemas dalam bentuk praktik langsung dan diskusi kelompok. Pengukuran kompetensi dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner berskala Likert, dan data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk melihat perubahan skor sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kompetensi guru secara signifikan, yaitu sebesar 18% pada aspek pembuatan materi ajar, 20% pada pengembangan materi ajar, dan 22% pada pemilihan model pembelajaran. Peningkatan ini mencerminkan keberhasilan pelatihan dalam membantu guru menyusun materi yang lebih kontekstual, memanfaatkan teknologi pembelajaran, serta memilih model pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik peserta didik. Secara keseluruhan, program pelatihan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas profesional guru SMK dan relevan untuk mendukung pembelajaran yang bermakna, adaptif, dan selaras dengan kebutuhan pendidikan abad ke-21.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi pemrograman CNC guru SMK melalui pelatihan CAD/CAM yang terkini, guna menjembatani kesenjangan pengetahuan antara pengajar dan perkembangan teknologi industri manufaktur. Pelatihan yang dilaksanakan di SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta ini menggunakan metode ceramah, praktikum, dan evaluasi proyek. Dalam pelatihan selama empat hari, peserta mempelajari perangkat lunak CAD/CAM serta teknik pemrograman CNC yang diaplikasikan pada model 3D dan simulasi jalur potong alat. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan guru, di mana 85% peserta mampu menjelaskan konsep dasar pemrograman CNC, 70% berhasil membuat model 3D yang akurat, dan 75% dapat mensimulasikan jalur alat potong dengan benar. Umpan balik menunjukkan bahwa 90% peserta menyatakan pelatihan ini bermanfaat dan relevan dengan kebutuhan pengajaran. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan berkelanjutan dengan teknologi terkini berpotensi meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan vokasi serta daya saing lulusan SMK di pasar kerja

Abstract

The current Covid-19 pandemic forces the learning process to be carried out online or long distance to impact every factor that supports smooth learning, one of which is student learning motivation. Thus, this study aims to determine the impact of online learning on vocational school students' learning motivation. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. The research approach used is a literature study by collecting data from the results of research that has been done previously that discusses the variables related to this research. The study indicates that several factors cause a decrease in student learning motivation, including the need for more learning facilities to support student learning activities, including electronic devices and inadequate Internet networks. Boredom is also another factor that reduces students' learning motivation. In addition, changing the method of delivering learning materials to giving individual assignments is a burden for students. The role of the teacher as a motivator and mentor for students in learning could be more optimal, which also causes a decrease in student learning motivation. Parents who are busy and need more time to pay attention to their children's learning conditions also reduce students' learning motivation.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan sekolah menengah kejuruan dalam menyongsong perkembangan era society 5.0 dari bidang pelaksanaan pendidikan dan pengajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan tinjauan pustaka (literature review). Data yang digunakan berupa data sekunder yang bersumber dari peninjauan sedikitnya 48 karya ilmiah yang memiliki tema dan bahasan yang sama dengan bahasan penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa era society 5.0 merambah hingga ke dunia pendidikan, terutama pendidikan vokasi. Peran SMK sangat penting untuk menjadi agen perubahan dalam menyongsong era society 5.0. SMK memiliki peran untuk memfasilitasi siswa agar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mereka, seperti kemampuan berpikir kritis, kreatif dan inovatif, kemampuan bekerja sama, memecahkan masalah kompleks, serta profesional dan bertanggung jawab. Teknologi yang digunakan menyesuaikan dengan yang ada di dunia kerja. Pendidik juga harus memiliki pengusaan teknologi yang baik serta memiliki kreativitas yang tinggi agar dapat menjadi pembimbing siswa dalam mendalami kompetensi yang mereka inginkan. Skema pembelajaran di SMK   berorientasi pada pengembangan keahlian tertentu yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja dengan cara bekerja sama dengan industri untuk menyelenggarakan SMK Pusat Keunggulan.Abstract:  This research aims to determine the role of vocational school in welcoming the development of the era of society 5.0 in the field of implementing education and teaching. This research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis using a literature review approach. The data used is secondary data sourced from a review of at least 48 scientific papers that have the same themes and discussions as the topic of this research. The results of this research show that the era of society 5.0 has spread to the world of education, especially vocational education. The role of Vocational Schools is very important to become agents of change in welcoming the era of society 5.0. Vocational Schools have a role in facilitating students to improve their abilities, such as the ability to think critically, creatively and innovatively, the ability to work together, solve complex problems, as well as being professional and responsible. The technology used adapts to what exists in the world of work. Teachers must also have good mastery of technology and have high creativity in order to be able to guide students in exploring the competencies they desire. The learning scheme at Vocational Schools is oriented towards developing certain skills that suit the needs of the world of work by collaborating with industry to organize Vocational Schools Centers of Excellence.
