The potential of marine resources in Sorong district, West Papua is very abundant, especially in the fisheries sector and encourages the economy and development of the State and can prosper the surrounding community. Suboptimal utilization results in a less prosperous community so that many social conflicts occur that threaten the disintegration of the nation. This study aims to analyze the management of marine resources in Sorong Regency in the perspective of defense management using a descriptive qualitative research design. The results of this study show that the management of marine resources in Sorong Regency is still not effective and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The economic aspect, the lack of understanding of fishermen related to the marketing system results in oligarchs so that those who benefit a lot are not fishermen. Ecological aspects, the use of fishing gear that is not environmentally friendly such as fish bombs and cantrang results in damage to marine ecosystems. The social aspect, open access management has resulted in fisheries production, both capture and aquaculture, starting to decline.

Environmental literacy is essential for students to comprehend environmental issues and sustainable behaviours that can help reduce negative environmental impacts. This research is motivated by the low environmental literacy of students, which is attributed to schools not providing direct learning experiences for students to interact with the environment. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of students' environmental literacy by applying conservation-based PBL (Problem-Based Learning). The research sample consisted of 104 students from SMAN 1 Lembar selected through purposive sampling. The research method employed a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach. Environmental literacy tests used test instruments adapted and modified from the Middle Schools Environmental Literacy Survey with indicators of knowledge, cognitive abilities, and attitudes. Data were analyzed using t-test calculations and n-gain. The research results show that conservation-based PBL is efficacious in improving students' environmental literacy based on (1) a significant increase in students' environmental literacy scores at α = 5%, (2) moderate n-gain scores, and (3) there was no difference in n-gain for all groups. Therefore, conservation-based PBL can be considered an alternative for teachers to enhance students' understanding of environmental issues while preparing them to adapt to ongoing climate and environmental changes

Biofuels are fuels derived from biomass and consist of biogas, biodiesel and bioethanol. Bioethanol is a biofuel whose main ingredients are from plants and generally use microorganisms in the fermentation process. One way is to use thermophilic bacteria with the advantage of low contamination levels and better product quality. Bacteria that exist in nature are not only in a single form but also exist in the form of a consortium in which there are beneficial or detrimental bacterial interactions. Favorable bacterial interactions indicate that the bacteria are compatible. Using a consortium with compatible bacteria gives better results than using a single bacteria. This study aims to determine the compatibility and effect of a consortium of thermophilic bacteria from Mudiak Sapan hot springs on biofuel yields. This research is a descriptive research. To test the cooperation between isolates, a compatibility test was carried out using the disk diffusion method. Then the biculture consortium isolates of thermophilic bacteria were fermented in liquid TMM medium (Thermophilic Minimum Media) and the bioethanol content was measured using a distillation apparatus. The results of this study showed that the six pairs of compatible consortium and MS 9-12 consortium produced the highest bioethanol, namely 1.0003%. The results of previous studies show that biological science learning for elementary school students is in the sufficient category. This is because teachers do not familiarize students with being trained in high-level thinking in the form of life skills, namely metacognitive awareness. Therefore, effective strategies are needed to increase students' metacognitive awareness. One model that can increase students' metacognitive awareness is the problem-based learning (PBL) model with the homogeneity psychocognition (HPC) strategy. The aim of the research is to analyze differences in elementary school students' metacognitive awareness in learning biological science using the PBL model, PBL with HPC strategies, and conventional models. This research used a quasi experiment with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The number of samples participating in the research was 155 students where sampling was carried out randomly. The instrument used was the metacognitive awareness inventory which was adapted from the Junior Metacognitive Inventory (Jr. MAI) by Sperling et al (2002). The inventory consists of 18 questions with 9 items each on the aspects of knowledge of cognition and regulation of cognition. The research results found that there were significant differences in metacognitive awareness in the PBL learning model, PBL with HPC strategies compared to conventional learning. This research recommends that teachers can optimize PBL, as well as PBL with HPC strategies in increasing students' metacognitive awareness.
