Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a substantial public health issue in Indonesia.  This research examines the divergence between objective and subjective quality of life in pregnant women with CED in Kampar District, Riau Province.  A sequential explanatory design with mixed methodologies was used.  The quantitative phase included 150 pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency (mid-upper arm circumference <23.5 cm) from 10 community health centers (out of 31 in Kampar District), selected using a strategy that guarantees a blend of urban and rural regions.  Evaluations included WHOQOL-BREF, anthropometric assessments, and clinical exams.  The qualitative phase included comprehensive interviews and focus group discussions with 30 intentionally chosen individuals.  Data integration was executed by joint display analysis. Quantitative results indicated poor objective quality of life scores: physical domain: 54.3±12.7; psychological: 58.6±11.4; social: 64.2±13.8; environmental: 52.1±10.9.  Nonetheless, 73% of interviewees regarded their quality of life as "good" or "excellent."  Qualitative analysis revealed four themes: "normalization of adversity" (CED seen as typical during pregnancy), "family sacrifice" (prioritization of familial needs), "social support as resilience" (help from family and community), and "spiritual coping" (religious beliefs as a source of strength).  Key determinants affecting the disparity in quality of life were social support (β=0.432, p<0.001), psychological resilience (β=0.387, p<0.001), healthcare access (β=0.256, p<0.05), and health literacy (β=0.198, p<0.05). Despite unfavorable objective health indicators, pregnant women with CED in Kampar District maintain good perspectives of quality of life, facilitated by robust social support, cultural normalization, and spiritual coping strategies.  Effective therapies must amalgamate biological strategies with psychological assistance, taking into account local cultural factors.  Programs must fulfill dietary requirements while concurrently enhancing community support structures and advancing health literacy to reconcile the disparity between objective health status and subjective well-being.

Abstract

Climate change affects agroforestry production and community resilience in forest areas. This study aims to: (1) identify vulnerabilities of forest products to climate change; (2) analyze community adaptation strategies; and (3) assess resilience levels of forest-adjacent communities. The research applied descriptive methods via field observations, interviews, and focus group discussions. From 74 residents, random sampling was used (Slovin method, 10% margin of error). Variables included economic, psychological, and social-institutional aspects. Resilience was assessed using a scoring system integrating Reivich & Shatté’s theory and a Likert scale, categorized into five levels: very high to very low. Results show that key vulnerabilities in the Sesaot forest area include harvest failures of major crops (e.g., durian, mangosteen, avocado, rambutan, cacao, coffee), with losses reaching 60–80%. Communities adapted through stratified agroforestry systems and strengthening local institutions. Resilience levels were high overall—economically moderate, but socially and psychologically strong. The study recommends improving economic resilience by reducing crop failure risks, including through the establishment of plant health clinics

Abstract

Indonesia is situated amidst three major tectonic plates: the Indo-Australian Plate, Eurasian Plate, and Pacific Plate. As a consequence, the country is characterized by numerous volcanoes, frequent earthquakes in various regions, and the occurrence of tsunamis. Particularly in the southern region of Java Island, this coastal area is a disaster-prone area. One of the areas is Tambakrejo Village, which is located in the coastal area of Malang Regency, which has potential in the form of beautiful beaches, abundant fishery products and development of the tourist village. This research aims to create a tsunami evacuation route map using a GIS. The digital elevation model data was obtained from Geospatial Information Agency using reclassification based on variations in altitude levels. Distance data from the coastline is processed using a base map of the research location and assisted by the Multiple Ring Buffer Toolbox. Land use data is processed using the Maximum Likelihood Classification process, the data used is Landsat 8 imagery. Determination of tsunami evacuation routes is carried out by implementing the Network Analyst method. The Network Analyst method uses the starting point of the incident to the end point of the facility to produce an appropriate evacuation route. The results show four new gathering points and 6 recommended evacuation routes for Sendangbiru, Tamban and Sendiki Beaches respectively.

Abstract

Durian seeds, often regarded as agricultural waste, contain notable amounts of macronutrients, particularly proteins, that warrant further exploration for potential food and feed applications. This study aimed to evaluate the total nitrogen, protein, and non-protein nitrogen (NPN) contents in fresh and processed seeds of three local durian (Durio zibethinus) cultivars Bintana, Pelangi, and Bawor using the Kjeldahl method. Fresh seeds and their corresponding flours were analyzed for moisture content, total nitrogen, and protein fractions, including actual protein and NPN levels. The results revealed significant variations across cultivars and between fresh and processed samples. Bintana exhibited the highest protein content in both fresh and flour forms, followed by Pelangi and Bawor. Processing, including soaking, drying, and flour preparation, was found to increase measurable protein content but may also contribute to protein denaturation. Overall, durian seeds, particularly from the Bintana variety, demonstrate promising nutritional potential as a functional food ingredient or alternative protein source.

Abstract

Surgery is a treatment method that uses invasive techniques, by making an incision to open and display the part of the body to be treated, then closing the wound with a suturing process. The impact of surgery can cause various psychological problems in patients, one of which is anxiety. Therapy to reduce anxiety is five-finger hypnosis therapy, a self-hypnosis method that can provide a high relaxation effect, thereby helping reduce tension and stress in the mind. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of providing 5 finger hypnosis therapy on reducing anxiety levels in pre-operative patients in the Clustered Surgical Inpatient Room at the Workers' General Hospital. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. This research uses a quasy experiment with a pre- post approach without control. The sample used with respondents was 18 respondents. The research instrument used in this research was the HARS questionnaire which the author created and provided closed questions. Data collection was carried out using primary data. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The results of the paired t-test statistical test show the p value = 0.000, meaning the p value < alpha value (0.05), thus the decision is that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion is "There is a significant effect of 5 finger hypnosis therapy on reducing anxiety levels in pre-operative patients in the Clustered Surgical Inpatient Room at the Workers' General Hospital. Thus, 5 finger hypnosis therapy needs to be applied to pre-operative patients so that anxiety can be reduced.
