Abstract

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) is widely used to induce experimental oxidative liver injury through the generation of free radicals that promote lipid peroxidation and hepatocellular damage. Natural products with antioxidant properties are being explored for their potential to mitigate such injury. This study aimed to evaluate the dose-responsive ameliorative effects of Channa striata extract on hepatic oxidative stress and histopathological alterations in rats following subacute CCl₄ exposure. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into five groups: normal control (K1), CCl₄ control (K2), and three treatment groups receiving C. striata extract at 100, 150, and 200 mg/kg body weight/day for two weeks after six weeks of CCl₄ induction (K3–K5). Hepatic malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were measured as an indicator of lipid peroxidation. Liver histopathology was assessed for hepatocellular necrosis, congestion, and inflammatory cell infiltration using a semi-quantitative scoring system. CCl₄ exposure significantly increased hepatic MDA levels and caused severe histopathological damage in the control group. C. striata extract dose-dependently attenuated MDA levels (p < 0.001), with the 200 mg/kg/day group showing the lowest levels (2.80 ± 0.15 vs. 6.65 ± 0.13 nmol/g in CCl₄ control). Histopathological scores for necrosis, congestion, and inflammatory infiltration ameliorated progressively with increasing doses, with median total scores improving from 8.5 (CCl₄ control) to 2.0 (200 mg/kg/day). Channa striata extract demonstrates dose-dependent ameliorative activity against established CCl₄-induced oxidative liver injury, as evidenced by attenuation of lipid peroxidation and mitigation of histopathological damage. Further studies incorporating serum liver enzymes and molecular mechanisms are warranted.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the integration of Local Ecological Knowledge (LEK) in science learning on the understanding of the concept of frog metamorphosis and environmental literacy of elementary school students in urban areas. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of a one-group pretest-posttest involving 30 elementary school students. Data were collected through concept comprehension tests and environmental literacy questionnaires, then analyzed using the N-Gain and ANCOVA tests. The results showed that the average score of concept understanding increased from 56.20 in the pretest to 82.10 in the posttest (N-Gain = 0.59), while the environmental literacy score increased from 60.35 to 85.40 (N-Gain = 0.63). The results of the ANCOVA test showed that the integration of LEK had a significant effect on concept understanding (F = 18.42; p < 0.001; η² = 0.39) and environmental literacy (F = 21.17; p < 0.001; η² = 0.42). These findings show that LEK-based learning is able to improve conceptual understanding and environmental literacy through the association of science materials with the local environmental context. Thus, the integration of LEK is an effective approach to support contextual and sustainable science learning in primary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the Flipped Classroom model assisted by Moodle on student learning independence and academic outcomes in physics, specifically regarding Newton's Laws. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 75 tenth-grade students. The experimental group utilized the Moodle-integrated flipped approach, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were analyzed using MANOVA, normalized gain, and Pearson correlation. The results indicate that the integrated model significantly improves both variables. The experimental group achieved a moderate increase in learning independence (normalized gain = 33%) and a high increase in learning outcomes (normalized gain = 73%), outperforming the control group (15% and 63%, respectively). Furthermore, a moderate positive correlation was found between learning independence and academic achievement. In conclusion, leveraging Moodle within a flipped classroom framework effectively fosters student autonomy and enhances cognitive mastery in physics education.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a web-based Numerical learning media oriented toward Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance junior high school students' Numerical problem-solving skills. Utilizing the Plomp research and development model, the final prototype was field-tested involving 25 eighth-grade students. The results demonstrated a classical effectiveness rate of 76%, categorizing the developed media as effective. Specifically, students exhibited exceptional proficiency in understanding the problem (93.33%) and planning a solution (88.44%). However, a significant cognitive deficit emerged in the final phase of checking the results (48.89%). It is concluded that while embedding PBL syntax into a web-based environment effectively scaffolds the forward procedural steps of Numerical problem-solving, it currently falls short in internalizing metacognitive reflection. To bridge this gap, future digital Numerical learning architectures must transcend passive information delivery by integrating interactive mechanisms, such as automated reflective prompts and dynamic feedback loops, to structurally enforce self-regulated evaluation.

Abstract

Elementary school students' critical thinking skills in science learning on the topic of natural resources have not yet developed optimally because instruction tends to rely on conventional Student Worksheets (LKS) and provides limited opportunities for contextual learning. This research sought to evaluate how the STEM-Project Based Learning (STEM-PjBL) model—implemented through a project where students created natural batik dyes—enhances elementary school students' critical thinking skills regarding natural resources. The study adopted a quantitative approach, utilizing a quasi-experimental method structured around a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 26 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Cirebon City, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a critical thinking skills test, a student response questionnaire, and classroom observations. The data were analyzed utilizing the Shapiro–Wilk test, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, N-Gain analysis, and descriptive statistics. The results showed that the mean pretest score increased from 77.02 to 81.54 on the posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test demonstrated a statistically significant difference, showing a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating that the model yielded a highly consistent and uniform improvement across the sample. However, the overall N-Gain score was 0.20 (20%), which belongs to the low category, suggesting that while the positive impact of the model was statistically robust, the short-term duration of the intervention limited the total magnitude of the score increase.

Abstract

This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of implementing smartphone-based chemistry e-modules in enhancing high school students' understanding of the material, creativity, and collaboration. The research method used is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 28 tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tinombo, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected thru instruments such as material comprehension tests, creativity tests, and collaboration observation sheets. The research results show that the implemented e-module meets the validity criteria with an average of 78% and is very practical to use, with a practicality score of 84.5% for teachers and 87.78% for students. The effectiveness analysis using the N-Gain test shows an increase in material understanding of 0.71 (high category). For student creativity, the N-gain value is 0.72, and for collaboration, it is reinforced by the teacher's observation results of 87.5%. Thus, it can be concluded that the smartphone-based e-module is effective in improving the quality of chemistry learning on nanomaterial topics.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of providing coconut water and urea to increase optimal growth of oil palm seedlings. This research was carried out on Medan community land in Amplas Village/Subdistrict, Percut Sei Tuan District. From April to June 2024. This research used a factorial randomized block design (CRD) consisting of 2 treatment factors with the symbol A consisting of 3 levels, namely; (A1) 300 ml/polybag (A2) 400 ml/polybag and (A3) 500 ml/polybag. The second factorial is with the symbol U which consists of 3 levels, namely; (U1) 1 g/polybag (U2) 1.82 g/polybag and (U3) 2 g/polybag. So that 9 treatments were obtained. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The observation data was then carried out by analysis of variance using the F test at 5% level. If the difference was significant then the test was continued with the Duncan test. From the results of the research and discussions carried out, conclusions were obtained, including: 1). The coconut water treatment had no significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf area. And it has a real effect on the root volume of oil palm seedlings. 2). The application of urea dosage had a significant effect on the number of leaves, leaf length, leaf area and root volume. Good growth of oil palm seedlings according to the dosage in this research is 2g/polybag. 3). The interaction between giving coconut water and urea dosage did not have a significant effect on the growth of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf area of ​​oil palm seedlings.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop Augmented Reality (AR)-based EDUTV interactive visual media on ecosystem materials and evaluate its feasibility for improving elementary students' science literacy. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach adapted from the 4D model, consisting of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The participants were fifth-grade elementary school students. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods based on expert validation, media feasibility assessments, and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the developed media was highly feasible for classroom use. Material expert validation yielded a feasibility score of 96%, while media expert validation obtained a score of 92%, both categorized as excellent. Student responses indicated positive perceptions toward the media presentation (88.8%), science literacy-oriented content (90.0%), and learning motivation (91.7%). These findings demonstrate that the AR-based EDUTV interactive visual media is valid, feasible, and effective for supporting Science and Social Studies learning on ecosystem topics while enhancing elementary students' science literacy. The study also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through innovative digital learning.

Abstract

The cayenne pepper agribusiness plays a vital role in supporting food security and the regional economy, but its development still faces various obstacles, such as price fluctuations, climate change, technological limitations, and weak farmer institutions. This study aims to analyze internal and external factors, determine priority strategies, and develop a sustainable cayenne pepper agribusiness development model in Oba and North Oba Districts, North Maluku Province. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach with Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analyses. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation of 22 farmers and key informants selected purposively. The results showed that the IFAS analysis produced a total score of 2.64, while the EFAS obtained a total score of 2.58, placing the cayenne pepper agribusiness in Quadrant I (Growth Strategy) with coordinates (0.49; 0.41). The QSPM analysis established priority strategies in the form of strengthening farmer group institutions, increasing production, implementing sustainable cultivation technologies, strengthening marketing networks, and developing partnerships and market access. This research resulted in a Sustainable Chili Pepper Agribusiness Development Model that integrates IFAS, EFAS, SWOT, and QSPM analyses as a conceptual framework in formulating a productive, competitive, and sustainable agribusiness development strategy.

Abstract

Chemistry in Indonesia continues to face persistent challenges related to student motivation and academic performance, particularly on abstract topics such as reaction rates. This study aimed to develop, validate, and evaluate a Genially-based interactive learning medium integrated within the Discovery Learning model for Grade XI students at SMAN 9 Pinrang. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed using the ADDIE model, encompassing five systematic phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects comprised 31 students of class XI.2. Data were gathered through structured interviews, questionnaires, expert validation sheets, and written learning outcome tests. The results demonstrated that: (1) the Genially interactive media was successfully developed across all five ADDIE phases, from needs and curriculum analysis through prototype design, expert validation, field implementation, and final evaluation; (2) the media achieved a validity rating of 3.70 out of 4.00 (92%), classified as highly feasible; (3) practicality was confirmed by teacher response scores of 97.08% and student response scores of 89%, both categorized as highly practical; and (4) effectiveness was evidenced by a substantial increase in student motivation from 61.70% to 96.19%, a class completion rate of 90%, and a mean post-test score of 90.65, surpassing the minimum mastery criterion of 80. These findings confirm that Genially-based interactive media represents a valid, practical, and effective instructional tool capable of meaningfully improving both motivational engagement and cognitive outcomes in secondary chemistry education.
