Abstract

Aims: This study sought to determine the impact of a nurse-led multimodal intervention on glycaemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes receiving care in a primary care setting. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted involving 36 patients with type 2 diabetes attending primary care services, with 19 participants assigned to the intervention group and 17 to the control group. Patients in the intervention group received care from nurses using a structured multimodal intervention programme, while those in the control group continued with usual care. Glycaemic control was assessed using glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and glycaemic risk stratification before and after the intervention. Results: At four weeks, the intervention group demonstrated a mean reduction in HbA1c of 0.37%, whereas the control group showed a mean increase of 0.11%. In addition, 63% of participants in the intervention group showed improvement in glycaemic risk category, compared with 78% of control group participants who remained in the highest risk category. The greatest improvement was observed among patients with baseline HbA1c levels ≥8.0%. However, statistical significance values (e.g., p-values and effect sizes) were not reported in this study. Conclusions: In primary care settings, a nurse-led multimodal intervention was associated with improved glycaemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes. These findings suggest that structured nursing interventions may contribute to better diabetes management and risk stratification, particularly in patients with poor baseline glycaemic control.

Abstract

This needs assessment study reveals a significant gap between the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum and the actual conditions of disaster-related learning about volcanoes in schools located in high-risk eruption areas of West Sumatra. Although the learning outcomes require students to design simple mitigation strategies, most schools have not achieved these competencies due to students’ low understanding of evacuation procedures and disaster preparedness. This situation is exacerbated by limited infrastructure: the majority of schools lack functional science laboratories and have very restricted internet access. However, there is strong potential shown by students' high enthusiasm for creative project-based learning. Therefore, the development of low-cost, low-tech, fully offline interactive project media using local or recycled materials is urgently needed. Such media are expected to improve students' scientific understanding of volcanic hazards, enhance disaster literacy, and foster creativity, critical thinking, and the competencies mandated in the Pancasila Student Profile. Thus, this media development serves as a strategic solution to support sustainable education in disaster-prone regions.

Abstract

Local rice germplasm is a valuable genetic resource for developing bacterial leaf blight (BLB)-resistant and high-yielding rice cultivars. However, information on the resistance of Southwest Aceh local rice to Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), particularly during the generative stage, remains limited. Previous studies have mainly focused on commercial cultivars or vegetative-stage screening, leaving the resistance potential of local germplasm at the reproductive stage largely unexplored. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance of local rice to BLB at the generative stage of plant growth. The research was conducted at Experimental Field, Teuku Umar University. West Aceh (4°08′33″ N; 96°11′54″ E). Fifteen local rice genotypes, together with resistant and susceptible control varieties, were evaluated following artificial inoculation with Xoo strain VIII. Disease resistance was assessed based on incubation period and lesion length, while agronomic performance was evaluated using key yield-related traits. Seven local genotypes Itam Tangke Lango, Jantong, Jempa Puteh, Manyam U, Pade Manggeng-1, Pade Manggeng-2, and Rangan Lango were classified as resistant based on lesion length. Among the evaluated genotypes, Sikleng exhibited superior agronomic performance, producing the highest number of productive tillers (27.50) and grains per panicle (317.73). The novelty of this study lies in evaluating Southwest Aceh local rice germplasm for bacterial leaf blight resistance at the generative stage using Xoo strain VIII while integrating disease resistance with yield-related agronomic traits. The identified resistant genotypes provide valuable donor parents for breeding BLB-resistant, high-yielding rice cultivars and contribute to sustainable rice production and regional food security.

Abstract

Wastewater treatment requires effective technologies for pollutant removal and sustainable water management. This study aimed to map the development of Continuous Electrocoagulation (CEC) research, identify research gaps and emerging themes, and synthesize operational and implementation issues. A Systematic Literature Network Analysis (SLNA) integrating Bibliometric Analysis (BA) and Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) was applied to 99 Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2019 and 2024. BA examined publication trends, collaboration networks, and research hotspots, while QCA synthesized evidence on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), operational factors, and implementation challenges. Publication output increased from 7 articles in 2019 to a peak of 22 in 2022, followed by 20 in 2023 and 14 in 2024. Thematic analysis indicated increasing attention to continuous operation, reactor configuration, pollutant removal, and energy efficiency. QCA showed that CEC research repeatedly examines electrode material, current density, pH, electrode distance, flow rate, electrolysis time, conductivity, temperature, supporting electrolytes, and hydraulic retention time. Key implementation challenges include electrode passivation, energy and electrode consumption, sludge management, effluent-quality control, and limited reactor standardization and scale-up evidence. Overall, CEC shows potential to support SDGs, while future research should prioritize multivariable optimization, pilot-scale validation, and sustainability assessment.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has accelerated the digitalization of learning, including the use of website-based learning media such as Google Sites. These media support audio-visual learning, increase student engagement, and have the potential to improve learning outcomes. Although SDN 07 Sedoya has received Chromebooks and tablets, their use has not been optimal due to limited teacher skills and knowledge. Therefore, this study aimed to develop website-based learning media and evaluate its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving fifth-grade students’ Indonesian language learning outcomes. The study employed the ADDIE development model and involved 25 fifth-grade students at SDN 07 Sedoya. Data were collected using questionnaires and learning outcome tests. The results indicated that the developed media were highly feasible, with validation scores of 96% for material, 95% for language, and 81% for media aspects. The practicality evaluation yielded a score of 4.0, indicating that the media were practical to use. Furthermore, the paired-samples t-test produced a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), demonstrating that the website-based learning media significantly improved students’ learning outcomes. These findings suggest that the developed website-based learning media are feasible, practical, and effective for Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

The conventional learning process makes students easily bored during lessons, so their critical thinking skills and scientific creativity end up being low. Therefore, teachers need to create a learning model that’s engaging and can boost students’ motivation to learn, so their critical thinking skills and creativity improve as well. This study aims to find out how effective the Creative-Scientific Decision-Making Skills (CSDMS) model based on Articulate Storyline is in enhancing students' critical thinking skills and scientific creativity through science lessons. The research sample consisted of 28 students from SMP Negeri 3 Jorlang Hataran for a limited trial, and 56 students for a broader trial (SMP Negeri 025 Siborutorop and SMP Negeri 2 Lima Puluh Pesisir). This study is a development research (R&D) using the ADDIE model. This study used a One Group Pre-test – Post-test design. The data analysis technique in this research was by comparing students' pre-test and post-test scores using normalized gain (n-gain). It was concluded that the CSDMS model is considered effective in improving students' critical thinking skills and scientific creativity. The study results showed that the average n-gain for critical thinking skills in the limited trial was 0.83, categorized as high, and in the wide trial it was 0.92, categorized as high. Meanwhile, the average scientific creativity of students in the limited trial was 0.71, categorized as high, and in the wide trial it was 0.73, categorized as high. It was concluded that the CSDMS model is considered effective in enhancing students' critical thinking skills and scientific creativity. The challenges faced in this research are limited time, an inadequate internet connection, and the e-module in using the Articulate Storyline application still needs some minor revisions.

Abstract

This study developed a teaching strategy to strengthen scientific reasoning. The study proceeded through preliminary investigation, prototype design, iterative try-outs, and implementation. The preliminary study showed that differential and integral topics in classroom practice remained largely procedural and did not explicitly integrate modelling empirical data. In response, a strategy was designed to connect chemical phenomena, mathematical, and Maple-assisted. Participants were undergraduate students from two universities. Try-out I involved 17 Chemistry students and Try-out II involved 10 Chemistry Education students at university in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, whereas the final implementation involved 30 undergraduate students at university in Bandung, West Java. Comprehension scores increased from 33.22 to 64.88 in Try-out I and from 33.82 to 70.59 in Try-out II. In the final implementation, mean scientific reasoning scores increased from 34.40 to 72.27 for the mathematical aspect and from 31.85 to 70.65 for the chemistry aspect. Gains in scientific reasoning were very strongly correlated with gains in differential–integral understanding (r = 0.969, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the developed strategy supports scientific reasoning by linking chemical phenomena, mathematical modelling, and Maple. The strategy should be examined in larger samples and other chemistry topics.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) in enhancing learning quality at SDN 01 Kendawangan as a contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4: Quality Education). A qualitative case study approach was employed involving one principal and three classroom teachers representing lower and upper grades. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings revealed that teachers integrated technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge into lesson planning, classroom instruction, and assessment by utilizing digital learning media, interactive presentations, and online educational resources. This implementation enhanced students' participation in classroom activities, facilitated their understanding of abstract concepts through visual and interactive learning materials, and encouraged more active learning interactions. However, challenges remained, including limited technological infrastructure, uneven digital competencies among teachers, and unstable internet connectivity. Continuous professional development and institutional support are therefore essential to strengthen teachers' TPACK competencies. In conclusion, the implementation of TPACK contributes to improving learning quality and supports the achievement of SDG 4 by promoting inclusive, technology-integrated, and student-centered learning practices in primary education.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the validity of the Microbes E-Module as a digital learning resource for undergraduate microbiology education. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The validation process was conducted during the Development phase and involved nine expert validators. The validated aspects included content, media, Project-Based Learning (PjBL), educational game components, and language. Data were collected using a validation questionnaire and analyzed descriptively using validity percentages. The results showed validity percentages of 99% for content, 94% for media, 96% for Project-Based Learning (PjBL), 95% for educational game components, and 98% for language. The overall validity percentage of the Microbes E-Module was 96%, indicating that it met the criteria of very valid. These findings provide evidence that the Microbes E-Module has achieved a very high level of validity based on expert evaluation across all validated aspects. Further studies are recommended to investigate the module's practicality and effectiveness during the Implementation and Evaluation phases of the ADDIE model.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between digital communication intensity and learning effectiveness, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education). Employing a quantitative approach, 350 university students participated. Descriptive analysis showed a mean digital communication intensity of 3.00 (SD = 0.75) and learning effectiveness of 3.65 (SD = 0.72). Contrary to linear assumptions, Pearson correlation revealed a non-significant linear relationship (r = 0.12; p = 0.06). However, polynomial regression confirmed a significant inverted-U pattern (β₂ = -0.18; p < 0.001; R² = 0.68), with an optimum point at 3.66, indicating peak effectiveness at moderate intensity. Hierarchical regression showed that learning motivation and internet infrastructure quality significantly controlled the variance, confirming the robustness of the curvilinear model. These findings underscore the need for regulated digital platform usage to prevent cognitive overload
