Abstract

Rabbits are classified as a mammal in the order Lagomorpha. Rabbit offers various potentials and benefits yet still unnoticeable by many. As cosmopolitan animal, the mammal adapts easily into wide range of habitats. Karanganyar is an example where one may find rabbits’ rearing and breeding industries. At the moment, such industries limit their operation to merely provide the demands of rabbits meat. Moreover, Directorate of Livestock and Animal Health of Karanganyar states rabbit farmers in the area (specifically Tawangmangu) once underwent livestock failure.Karanganyar Government plans to create several leisure- and education-based tourist attractions to diversify its tourism industry, which in turn directly contribute to people’s welfare. Based on the notion, a Taman Kelinci is proposed as a way to harness rabbits’ potentials. Its plan and design utilise sustainable architecture methodology since it fits the purpose of symbiotical relations between the environmental, economical, social, and cultural matters; the realisation of the design will benefit the people economically without neglecting other aspects stated beforehand. The Taman Kelinci is an effort to explore rabbits’ potentials  as well as to attract and benefit people – which covers four issues that is education, leisure, conservation, and marketing.  Keywords: Education, Leisure, Rabbit, Sustainable Architecture.

Abstract

Taman Satwa Taru Jurug is now lost its luster. Lack of maintenance makes the public interest to visit Taman Satwa Taru Jurug gradually receding. “Kebon Rojo” was a garden of Kasunanan Surakarta Palace formerly reserved for the royal family recreation area. Kebon Rojo applied the concept of “olah raga” (physical activities), olah rasa (psychic management), and “olah-olah (culinary process) which belonged to the application of customary values of Java. The Kebon Rojo concept is a potential that can be used as the first step of planning and design concept considerations of Kebon Rojo wildlife park in Surakarta. The zoo or wildlife park is closely related to nature, especially animals and plants, the ecological aspects in it cannot be ruled out. Therefore, the output of the design concept that is considering the ecological aspect is also very necessary. The design problem is how to apply the principle of the former Kebon Rojo, which can also apply the concept of Eco-Cultural Architecture based on the concept of sustainable, which not only includes something that is seen as physical entity such as environment and nature, but also include something that is not seen as a physical entity, such as culture, habits and customs. In planing process, it is essential to collect particular data, especially about the history, location, and also technical requirements of wildlife park. The design result is, “Kebon Rojo” wildlife park Surakarta can be a public space which can be used as a recreational area with the concept of education and conservation, which become a home for a wide range of plants and animals, which apply the concept of Eco-Cultural Architecture by implementing the values and principles of “Kebon Rojo” royal family garden., Keywords: Wildlife Park, Ecology, Cultural, Eco-Cultural Architecture

Three importants constraints that affect Paralympic athletes are training, a gym and dorm athletes are far apart, the existing sports facilities are public facilities that are less facilitate Paralympic athletes, as well as the city of Solo that it is not possible to accommodate Paralympic athletes training activities. As a problem-solving strategies, takes planning a national training center that can accommodate the needs of Paralympic athletes to improve athletic ability. The training center emphasizes on the design of the facility is accessible for users, especially the Paralympic athletes. Karanganyar selected as the location of the training center because it meets the criteria of the training center. The formulation of the problem in this design is to realize the concept and design of the National Training Center Paralympic Athletes in Karanganyar with Emphasis Architectural Accessibility. Thus it can be formulated National Training Centre planning objectives is to improve and develop the ability of Paralympic athletes in the international arena by emphasizing design accessible to users. The method is carried out to determine the settlement of the problem is through observation at a boarding, training facilities, and the needs of Paralympic athletes and NPC of Indonesia (National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia). Planning national training centers should emphasize the accessibility of architecture in the design of buildings and facilities that are accessible to users. The principle of accessibility architecture is emphasized that security, safety, usability, and independence. Application of these principles appear in the planning design that uses the ramp in all its circulation both inside and in the curved building, the layout of the room and the furniture, the corridors of the building, parking access, handrail, door with universal design, as well as signs and alarms that apply to building national training center. The division of the building into several mass and circulation that connect a response from the existing contours of the site and to emphasize the accessibility of the architectural design. Keywords: Accessibility Architecture, Paralympic Athletes, Karanganyar, National Training Center

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago that 63% of the territory is water area and has a fascinating natural beauty one of which is underwater paradise, one of them is Karimunjawa Islands. Karimunjawa National Park is famous for it’s underwater paradise, so that few people who visit it’s main purpose is closely bound with snorkeling and diving activities. But from year to year in the state of degradation of marine life, so that need a place for conservation and research for the marine life. Marine aquarium is an alternative that can be used as a place for introduction of underwater life, and can become a place of preservation and research on marine life. Design problems in designing marine aquarium is how marine aquarium into the separate icon for Karimunjawa National Park which portray the richness of marine life there, so to make that image then approach the Architecture Metaphor is very suitable as a concept design planning aquarium marine life. Metaphor architecture can be applied to the design of marine aquarium by adopting the coral reefs are applied to the regulatiuon of site, the space in the mass, the shape and composition of it’s mass. This concept of life in the ocean can be visualized with the architectural design as well as being of architectural presenting function. Keywords: Aquarium, Conservation, Marine, Marine Aquarium, Marine Biota, Marine Life, Metaphor Architecture, Research.
