Abstract

Housing is a basic human need besides food and clothing. Housing needs are important, especially among generations Y and Z, who are currently dominating the world's population today. In determining the desired for housing, a person always relates to the criteria they want as well as these two generations. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence the type of housing desired by generations Y and Z. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection was carried out using online questionnaires and distribution with non-random sampling method. The qualitative data were analysed using the open-coding method. Quantitative data were analysed using principal component analysis (PCA), factor analysis and multivariate regression analysis. Based on the results of the research, the factor of choosing a house is divided into fourteen factors (latent variables), namely facility and infrastructure, clean environment, natural environment, security, accessibility, landed housing attributes, vertical housing attributes, social relations, countryside or sub-urban locations, crowded environments, supporting facilities, future investment, city views, and en suite bathroom and exterior. The main factors for generations Y and Z choosing landed housing outside the city are the factors of countryside location and future investment. The main factors for generations Y and Z choosing vertical housing in the city center were accessibility, crowded surroundings, and views of the city. The main factors generation Y and Z choose cohousing in the suburbs are social relationships, sub-urban location, and en suite bathroom and exterior. Meanwhile, the factors that generation Y and Z do not want in choosing cohousing housing are the crowded environment and landed housing attributes.

Abstract

Traditional architecture in Doka called Sa’o (traditional house) has a unique physical identity in the form of structure and construction. Even though it looks simple, the structure of the foundation, the body, and the roof is able to provide strength and stability to the building. If we are looking back to see how to build a traditional house in the past, the trial and error strategy becomes a method of logical thinking by understanding the principles of building structures. For this reason, this study aims to determine the logical thinking of structural principles by identifying all steps of construction and every structural element obtained through field observations. The results show that the form of structure and construction steps at the traditional house (Sa’o) has considered the principle of load distribution and the response to the styles that influence it. That’s why this research became more interesting as a knowledge to understand the logic of thinking of those people while creating an architectural concept.

Abstract

The development of the times indirectly affects human needs which have an impact on all aspects of human life, psychology, lifestyle to architecture.  There are several rules of Traditional Balinese Architecture that contrast or are not suitable when combined with modern architecture that is in demand by today's society. However, if ecotourism buildings in Bali follow the architectural trend in the world, it will violate the Bali Regional Regulation and Bali will lose its architectural identity. There is a gap between traditional Balinese architecture that must be applied with modern architecture which is the current trend. Biophilic Architecture is building's connection to the environment will affect the health of the community both physically and psychologically. In general, the Biophilic approach and Traditional Balinese Architecture are both environmentally based. Therefore, Biophilic Architecture can be a bridge between Traditional and Modern Architecture. Using comparative quantitative research methods with biophilic as an indicator of assessing traditional Balinese architecture, the results of modern architecture guidelines that have environmental-based traditional rules will be obtained. This research is expected to be a guide or reference in designing ecotourism buildings that are modern but still strong in their traditional Balinese identity.

However, there is the oldest house with the Dutch East Indies architectural style that stands till today, namely Rumah 1870 which is located in the Kayutangan Heritage Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the architectural character of Rumah in 1870. The method used was the descriptive analysis method, to obtain and analyze the data of the existing condition. The results of the study show that the architectural character of Rumah 1870 still shows the architectural style of the Dutch East Indies, although there have been changes or additions to the character of the house.

Abstract

The pandemic of Covid-19 has hit Indonesia heavily, especially when it was confirmed infectious in early 2020. The government accelerated the immunization program and implemented numerous stimuli and regulations to reduce the effects. However, It didn't stop many people and communities from moving independently to cope with the impacts. An informal community partnership led by Arkom, a community architects’ institution, may be one of the pandemic's resilience efforts. Using a bottom-up and participatory strategy, Arkom has succeeded in building community resilience during the pandemic. The Covid 19 epidemic poses unique challenges from previous physical disasters. Seeing disaster as both a challenge and an opportunity, this study intends to describe Arkom's and its informal community alliances' resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Safier's room of maneuver lens is used to dismantle scenarios with strategic, technical, organizational, and social components. The data is collected and analyzed using snowball procedures with community members and field facilitators. The study concludes that ARKOM and its community alliances could adapt to make a maneuver during the pandemic, and technology is one of the keys to maneuver success.

The sampling method is non-probability sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis technique are using statistics descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The result of this study is the level of sense of place on st. Teuku Panglima Polem is “belonging to a place”, the pedestrian ways has a significant positive influence towards the sense of place, and the visualization of design recommendation.
