Abstract

The research of the thermal environment of the school building is useful for determining the design strategy of a thermally comfortable school building. This research method is based on field measurements. A total of 8 classrooms from 4 public school buildings in Pontianak City with different characteristics of opening directions, orientations, and floor locations were selected in this study. The results showed that the air temperature and humidity in the classroom ranged between 26.9oC-33.5oC and 74.5%-84.2%. The average air velocity in the classroom is 0.24m/s. The globe temperature is higher than the air temperature with an average difference of 7.7oC. Protection against solar radiation and increased air velocity can be potential design strategies to achieve thermal comfort in classrooms.

Abstract

The increase influences changes in the spatial layout of Balinese ethnic residences in Denpasar in the number of family members, the growth in the community's economy, and the availability of residential yard land, which is decreasing. On the one hand, the Balinese ethnic community in Denpasar still has a perception of direction and orientation of significant (high) and obnoxious (low) values or luan and teben orientations as the forerunner to the spatial configuration of Balinese ethnic residences with the concept of zoning of the Sanga Mandala tread. This study aims to conceive of the Denpasar community's perception of the arrangement of residential houses amid increasing residential space needs. The method used is descriptive qualitative through empirical studies by conducting in-depth observations and interviews to understand the Denpasar community's understanding of structuring their homes. This study found that the Balinese ethnic community perceives changes in their homes' spatial layout based on literacy and adaptation; the Denpasar community understands the demands of residential space needs through a spatial transformation based on transformation spatial concepts of Balinese architecture.

Abstract

Kampung Batik Semarang is now developing into a tourist destination that is thought to have a place attachment. Place attachment is built through place creation, place identity and place dependence. This study uses a qualitative method, aims to identify places that contain place attachments, find out the processes and factors that form place attachments, and map the relationship patterns of these places. The results conclude that the creation of place attachments in physical elements, activities and functions, due to the development of latent activities. The identity of a place is built through its physical and non-physical identity. Place dependence is manifested in a sense of belonging, security, pride, memory, a feeling of being at home, and a desire to maintain a place. The factors that influence it are the fulfillment of the community's need for public space, historical, cultural and economic factors, good location, physical condition and available facilities.

Abstract

This reserach was conducted to explore student preferences to formulate the ideal canteen design criteria in this post-pandemic period. The analytical method used in this study is a content analysis method with the stages of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding through the data obtained using an online questionnaire. Based on the analysis, it was found that the dominant factors that became student preferences for the ideal post-pandemic canteen design criteria were "cleanliness and health" and "spacious room". Several things that can be considered to support these criteria are the availability of hygiene and health facilities, smoke-free rooms (cooking and smoking), additional signage, distance between furniture and visitors, additional barriers, consideration of space capacity, good air circulation, and open design.

Abstract

The RISHA applied to the Jayagiri house was compared with conventional technology, in terms of construction duration, costs, and environmental friendliness. The strength of the RISHA structure was be analyzed based on existing standards using SAP2000 and spColumn. The data were the literature studies and interviews with RISHA users, applicators, and the Directorate of Engineering Affairs for Human Settlements and Housing. Compared to conventional, the Jayagiri house is proven to be more eco-friendly with an efficiency value of 48.6 points. It was also built four weeks faster, with a lower cost of IDR123,043.90 per square meter, or 3.97%. The strength analysis shows that the capacity of the column reinforcement is still capable of carrying the designed load, the anchorage capacity of the X-direction beam has not met the requirements.

Abstract

Bungkul Park as one of the green open spaces in Surabaya is known as the best city park locally and internationally. The implementation and management of the park's environment has improved and developed over time. The aim of this paper was to determine whether Bungkul Park Surabaya has been effective in the ecological function of city parks and the application of SDGs to Bungkul Park facilities. The research method used in this study is qualitative by observing the activities of Bungkul Park visitors and conducting literature studies. The results of this paper indicate that Bungkul Park Surabaya needs to apply the concept of a green park to the waste system, structuring street vendors, and landscaping to support the Sustainable Development Goals.

Abstract

Architectural design through the concept of wayfinding for mental health facilities can support the patient's healing process, by providing designs that can influence cognitive behavior. The main problem is how to solve the spatial disorientation in the building. The healing architecture theories observe and harness the environmental elements as a factor in the design of a building. This information is applied to help the occupants in the process identifying their environment. The statement provides a basis for ideas of ideas regarding the architecture that provides information on the occupant, and it presents a hypothesis about architecture as a guide the user inside the building (wayfinding). The design proposal aims is to produce proposed structures designed as facilities to deal with mental health disorders according to the needs of the patient, and knowing what architectural elements can be used in using the concept of wayfinding as a result of research.

Abstract

The SDG's primary target of providing an inclusive environment has a lot to do with the quality of public services. However, in terms of infrastructure, there are still various shortcomings, especially in implementing designs based on inclusive design.  Malang City, one of the cities with new public service facilities, chose an existing building to become a public service mall. Issues that occur include unfriendly circulation, inappropriate space functions and not adequately accommodated mobility of users with special needs, elders and children because there is only one access. This research uses a qualitative approach with observation and interviews as a method and the principle of inclusive design as a research tool. The result of the study from this research is that the Mal Pelayanan Publik Merdeka Kota Malang has not yet become an inclusive public facility.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the extent to which the Covid-19 pandemic with all kinds of restrictions that occur affects the soundscape experience, and explores the extent to which an audial study was created at Taman Dewi Sartika Bandung as a thematic city park in the center of Bandung City. This is deemed necessary so that practical and theoretical contributions are not only limited to visual goals but also give meaning to audial experience. The soundscape approach has not been widely applied in the architectural design process, especially in urban parks in the city center in Indonesia, particurarly in Bandung. This research was conducted by using observations at Dewi Sartika Park, and used a qualitative and quantitative approach, accompanied by an exploratory literature review on soundscapes, city parks as part of public space, and human perception. Through this research, it was found that the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the soundscape experience and shifted the existence of the park from being very cultural, namely domination in aspects of activity and place, to being very natural which is "sacred".
