The journal is pursues the academic exploration on Islamic education discourses in Southeast Asian schools, colleges, universities, and other Islamic educational institutions such as pesantrens (Islamic boarding schools). The journal promotes empirical research and theory relevant to Islamic affiliated educational institutions. The topics of the journal cover the micro, meso, and macro levels of Islamic education such as the philosophy of Islamic education, Islamic school leadership, and the politics of Islamic education. The journal is published twice a year in June and December. It was firstly published in 2013 (printed edition). Since Vol. 3, Issue 2 (December 2015), it has migrated gradually to an electronic journal system (Open Access). It is now a fully online journal, and since Vol. 8, No. 2 (December 2019) it only accepts manuscript submissions written in English or Arabic.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions play a role to build  Islamic values. Islamic values are patterns or concepts that are upheld by Muslims with various main problems related to Islam. This type of research was qualitative descriptive research that was the process of research by conducting an assessment of phenomena, and events, in the life of students, by directly or indirectly involved in the settings studied. The main problem in this research is how factors influence the cultivation of Islamic values in Islamic boarding schools. The purpose of the research was to examine the factors that influence the cultivation of Islamic values on students at the Islamic Boarding School of Hidayatullah Balikpapan. The methods of collecting data were conducted by observations, interviews, and documentation through researchers collecting data step by step and then concluded. The process of processing and analyzing data through three analysis activities simultaneously, namely: (1) data reduction (2) data display, (3) and concluding. The results of the research showed that the factors of cultivating Islamic values to students at the Islamic boarding school of Hidayatullah Balikpapan were (1) the integration of curriculum, (2) integrated between mosques, dormitories, and madrasah in the educational process, (3) the existence of qudwah (role model) from elders, community leaders, alumni, and seniors, (4) the support of the government and the local community. Meanwhile, Islamic values were instilled from the aspect of religion, worship, and morality.

Abstract

Indonesians have different backgrounds; they can live in harmony and side by side without any friction and conflict due to cooperation between religions in an excellent multicultural frame. The research approach is library research. The primary data source used is the Qur'an with the thematic method, while secondary data is in books, journals, and documentation. The study findings show; (1) the cooperation verses in the Qur'an, fifteen verses have the Madaniyah status, and seven verses have the Makiyah status. These verses are grouped into three things: cooperation based on Islamic brotherhood, cooperation based on ukhuwah wathaniyah or nationality, and cooperation based on ukhuwah basyariah human-based. Somebody can carry out a partnership based on ukhuwah basyariah in a multicultural context can be carried out in the political, economic, cultural, and social fields. (2) The hadiths related to the cooperation verses are found in Sahih Muslim numbers 2704 and 2705, Sahih Bukhari numbers 2124 and 2811, Sunan Nasai numbers 3867 and 3871. Based on the transmission line, the hadith is agreed to be a valid hadith even though there are differences in the text, but the meaning has the same substance.

Abstract

This article discusses plagiarism behavior among students and university students. Islamic education must be able to provide enlightenment and additional insight to students so that they stay away from plagiarism. This research is a literature review that is reviewed in depth and comprehensively. The research method is in the form of literature review by putting forward the relevant theory. The results of this literature review research are in the form of a relationship between Islamic education and the prevention of plagiarizing behavior in online learning and student self-efficacy.

Abstract

Online-based distance learning is an alternative to learning in the current situation. Distance Education is an education whose students are separated from educators, and their learning uses a variety of learning resources through communication technology, internet information and other media. This study aims to find out how much influence online-based distance learning has on students' learning outcomes in PAI. The research method used is expost facto research. This type of pining is with primary data and secondary data. The results showed that; Online-based Distance Learning positively and signification of student learning outcomes by 13.3%. Online-based Distance Learning can improve the quality of education in order to continue to be carried out properly, especially in student learning outcomes even in the condition of the covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This research is focused on implementing the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) model for Fiqh subjects at MTs Darul Muta'alimin Samarinda. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, the research subjects include the Deputy Principal for Curriculum, Fiqh subject teachers, and students. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation, to test the validity of the data used triangulation techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the CTL model was carried out through a learning process starting from preparation by preparing a lesson plan (RPP), implementation and evaluation stages according to the components and characteristics as well as matters related to CTL learning, namely; 1) Develop students' critical thinking so that learning activities are more meaningful, 2) Provide motivation so that students can actively participate in learning activities, 3) Develop students' curiosity by providing opportunities to express opinions, 4) Utilization of media and resources learn optimally, both media based on information technology or media and resources available in the surrounding environment, 5) Implement Inquiry learning by providing opportunities to find understanding from experience, 6) Creating a learning community by forming discussion groups, 7) Reflecting and drawing conclusions from learning outcomes, and 8) Conducting an objective and authentic assessment of each student according to the student's abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the character values contained in the textbooks of Islamic Education for V grade in Islamic Elementary School. The method used in this research was a content analysis method with a qualitative approach. The source of research data is the PAI (Pendidikan Agama Isam) textbook for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah which is divided into four books, namely Akidah Akhlak, Qur'an Hadith, Fikih, and Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam. The results showed that there are main character values in each book, namely Religius, Nationalis, Mandiri, Gotong Royong, and Integritas scattered throughout the books. Meanwhile, the most dominant character value that appears is Religius with its sub value "Hubungan individu dengan Tuhan". Then, other character values such as Nasionalis and Mandiri are still not widely published in this PAI textbook. Such as Mandiri character that is not in the fikih subject, then nasionalis character which is also not in the subjects of the Qur'an Hadith and Fikih.

Abstract

This research is a case study which takes a research in Islamic Senior high school at religion ministry in Demak district and D.I. Yogyakarta Province. While the data collection is done by documentary, observation, and deep interview with the head of Islamic education school section at religion ministry district office of D.I. Yogyakarta province and Demak District, the chief of management of teacher’s subject forum, Al-Qur’an Hadits’ teacher and the chief workgroup of madrasah. Data analysis is processed when the researcher were in field, collecting the data, and when all of data is collected as finishing of field section. The result of this research shows that : 1) teacher’s subject forum management in Islamic senior high school Demak District has some problems in main programe agenda, human resource, infrastructure and facilities, a management, a financial, controlling and evaluation. 2) Management development of teacher’s subject forum in D.I Yogyakarta province is covering the development of programs and agenda, human resource, infrastructure and facilities, a management, a financial, controlling and evaluation. 3) the lesson that can be learnt from both of research subject is do the system development correctly, program and structure to improving and developing the teacher’s subject forum management in Demak district to become professional organization that can improve the teacher’s competence.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the typology of the curriculum of tahfizh boarding schools in South Kalimantan. Curriculum as a guideline in learning at an educational institution, especially the tahfizd pesantren educational institution, has not been widely existed and researched so it is interesting to research. The method used is a qualitative method. Data analysis techniques that will be used in this research, namely "descriptive analytics" and in qualitative research in general starting from data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The results showed that the entire tahfīzh institution of the Qur'an has the same expectations, in which the process of planning, organizing, mobilizing, and controlling people and other resources in achieving targeted goals effectively and efficiently" While the target to be achieved by tahfīzh institutions is the ability of learners to memorize the Qur'an. Although, there are many differences in methods and models in each institution of the Qur'anic Tahfidz. So, the curriculum of each institution may be different, but the results desired by the managers of all institutions are the same, namely acceleration or making it easier for everyone to memorize the Qur'an. The curriculum of the Tahfizh Al-Qur'an boarding school is compiled only to support the santri's memorization program, either from the model or method used in the memorization process, the book read, the educational process in the classroom, to the rules for the students. The education system in tahfizh boarding school is the same as the pesantren education system in general, namely there is a curriculum, learning methods, places to learn and others, it's just that there is something different from one cottage with another cottage so that it has its own uniqueness.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa dalam bidang pengajaran pada praktek kerja lapangan. Adapun jenis penelitian dalam artikel ini yaitu deksriptif kualitatif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknil purposive sampling, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian mengemukakan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengajar memiliki rencana yang baik yaitu dengan membuat RPP sesuai standar proses, mampu melaksanakan pembelajaran dengan membuka pelajaran dengan baik, memberi penguatan dan keterampilan dalam mengelola kelas selama pelajaran berlangsung serta mampu menutup pelajaran dengan menyusun rangkuman materi bersama. Selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung mahasiswa yang mengajar pada praktek kerja lapangan menggunakan metode dan strategi yang sesuai dengan apa yang berlaku pada kurikulum sekolah tempat berlangsungnya praktek lapangan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the implementation of online learning was and the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of online learning in PAI Subjects in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic eleventh (XI) grade science students. This study used a qualitative method. Sources of data used were primary data in interviews with school principals, PAI teachers, and students of class XI science and secondary data in the form of books, journals, scientific articles, the internet, and other scientific works. Data collection techniques were in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used the model of Milles and Huberman, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and concluding the data obtained. The results showed that the implementation of online learning on PAI subjects in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic in class XI IPA started from government policy through SE Kemendikbud No. 4 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Education Policies in the Emergency Period for the Spread of the Corona Virus. The implementation of this learning is based on the 2013 curriculum syllabus and uses online lesson plans (RPP). In the learning process, used Whatsapp, Youtube, and Schoology applications. The teacher also made various learning materials and media such as PowerPoint and videos related to the material. The process of learning evaluation was conducted by giving assignments or practice questions. The supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of online learning were able to be seen from three aspects, namely: (1) Human Resources (HR), (2) Materials or teaching materials, and (3) Supporting facilities.
