Abstract

RESUME: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengemukakan persepsi masyarakat Kabupaten Sinjai di Sulawesi Selatan tentang perjodohan menurut perspektif ajaran Islam dan budaya lokal, menemukan konsep aturan dan syarat penentuan jodoh, serta mendeskripsikan bentuk asimilasi antara ajaran Islam dan budaya lokal tentang perjodohan dalam perkawinan. Penelitian ini melibatkan pemangku adat di Kabupaten Sinjai sebanyak 10 orang, tokoh agama sebanyak 5 orang, dan pemerintah setempat sebanyak 3 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa persepsi masyarakat tentang perjodohan menurut perspektif ajaran Islam dan budaya lokal di Kabupaten Sinjai didasari oleh budaya kekerabatan, yakni “asseajingeng”. Dalam perjodohan “asseajingeng” pada masyarakat Sinjai tersebut masih dapat dibedakan dalam beberapa istilah, antara lain “rappe” dan “siteppang” atau “sompung-lolo”. Aturan dan syarat penentuan jodoh di kalangan masyarakat Kabupaten Sinjai tidaklah mudah, karena dilakukan atas dasar adat-istiadat, terutama di kalangan bangsawan. Bentuk asimilasi antara ajaran Islam dan budaya lokal tentang perjodohan dalam perkawinan di Kabupaten Sinjai adalah sebagai asimilasi kultural dan spiritual, karena ditemukannya perpaduan antara budaya lokal dengan budaya yang berkembang sekarang, yang di dalamnya mengandung nilai-nilai ajaran agama Islam yang sakral. KATA KUNCI: Perjodohan; Ajaran Islam; Budaya Lokal; Adat-Istiadat; Asimilasi; Masyarakat Sinjai. ABSTRACT: “Matchmaking Procession of a Marriage: Perspectives of Islamic Teachings and Local Culture in District of Sinjai”. This paper aims to put forward the public perception about matchmaking based on the perspectives of Islamic teachings and local culture, find the rules and requirements to determine a right spouse, and describe the assimilation form between Islam and local culture of matchmaking in marriage process in District of Sinjai, South Sulawesi. This research involved ten traditional stakeholders in Sinjai, five religious figures, and three local authorities. Observation, interviews, and documentation were used to gather data. The results showed that the public perception of matchmaking in Sinjai is based on cultural kinship, namely “asseajingeng”. Several different terms were found to describe matchmaking “asseajingeng” in Sinjai society, such as “rappe” and “siteppang” or “sompung-lolo”. Rules and requirements to determine a right spouse among people Sinjai is not easy, because it is done on the basis of customs, especially among the noble family. Form of assimilation between Islam and local culture of matchmaking marriage in District of Sinjai is a spiritual and cultural assimilation since the discovery of a blend of local culture with a culture that is now developing, in which it contains the sacred Islamic religious values.KEY WORD: Matchmaking; Islamic Teaching; Local Culture; Customs; Sinjai Community.About the Author: Dr. H.M. Abstract

ABSTRAK: CBS (Culture-Bound Syndromes) adalah satu penyakit yang dipengaruhi oleh budaya serta kejadian yang tidak disangka-sangka, berlaku dalam kalangan etnik, dan kawasan tertentu. Dalam konteks masyarakat Melayu di Kelantan, Malaysia, sindrom ini telah lama wujud dalam masyarakat tersebut. Ramai pengkaji yang mengklasifikasikan amok dan latah sebagai sindrom CBS yang majoritinya berlaku dalam kalangan masyarakat Melayu dan disebabkan oleh faktor budaya, persekitaran, dan biologi. Selain daripada amok dan latah, fenomena bilangan orang Melayu yang menghidap ”saka”, iaitu sejenis penyakit psikiatri yang berpunca daripada gangguan makhluk halus, persekitaran, biologi, dan keturunan semakin meningkat. Penyakit saka seringkali dihidapi oleh masyarakat Melayu dan boleh diklasifikasikan sebagai salah satu sindrom dalam CBS berdasarkan simptom penyakit tersebut. Ramai pengkaji pula yang mengklasifikasikan ”saka” dalam kategori CBS berdasarkan faktor keetnikkan dan simptom penyakit ini. Abstract

RESUME: Penanganan radikalisme dan terorisme yang terlalu bertumpu pada pendekatan legal-formal dan bersifat represif perlu ditinjau ulang, karena logika pendekatan melalui mekanisme hukum seperti itu berlawanan dengan logika yang dianut oleh para teroris. Sanksi pidana fisik tidak membuat pelaku berhenti, tetapi para teroris bertindak jauh melampaui rasa takut terhadap ancaman hukuman tersebut. Re-edukasi dan re-motivasi perlu dipertimbangkan sebagai bentuk de-radikalisasi dalam rangka menetralisir faham-faham radikal melalui pendekatan interdisipliner, seperti pendidikan, hukum, psikologi, agama, dan sosial-budaya. Kontekstualisasi ajaran agama menjadi cara efektif bagi re-edukasi dan re-motivasi dalam menanggulangi radikalisme di Indonesia. Proses ini mensyaratkan keberanian untuk mengniterpretasikan Islam dengan budaya lokal, yang tidak harus berkaitan dengan zaman Nabi. Dalam konteks Indonesia, proses ini juga seharusnya dilakukan melalui integrasi nilai-nilai pluralitas terhadap kurikulum pesantren yang memiliki hubungan dengan radikalisme. Politik kesalehan eksklusif harus di de-produksi menjadi politik kesalehan berbasis sosial yang responsif terhadap masalah kemanusiaan. Re-edukasi dan re-motivasi akan menciptakan generasi baru Muslim di Indonesia yang inklusif dan humanis, serta mampu melakukan reka-cipta kearifan lokal baru yang sejalan dengan nilai-nilai ajaran Islam.KATA KUNCI: Re-edukasi, re-motivasi, pelaku radikalisme, pesantren, dakwah, Muslim Indonesia, inklusif, dan humanis. ABSTRACT: “Re-Education and Re-Motivation towards the Radicalism and Terrorism Actors: Building Awareness on Inclusive Religious and Humanist in Indonesia”. Handling terorrism and radicalism that too based on the repressive and formal-legal approachs need to be reviewed, because the logic of approach through the law mechanisms like that is contrary to the logic espoused by the terrorists. Physically criminal sanction is not make the perpetrator to stop, but the terrorist act far beyond the fear of the threat of punishment. Re-education and re-motivation should be considered as a form of de-radicalization in order to neutralize the radical ideologies through an interdisciplinary approach, such as education, law, psychology, religion, and socio-cultural. Contextualization of religion teachings will become an effective way to re-educate and re-motivation in tackling the radicalism in Indonesia. This process requires the courage to interprete Islam with the local culture, which is not necessarily related to the time of the Prophet. In the Indonesian context, this process should be done through the integration of a plurality of values into the Islamic boarding school’s curriculum with ties to radicalism. Politics of exclusive piety should be de-producted become the political piety based on social responsibility to the problems of humanity. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Most parents, teachers, and guardians understand that children, no matter what their age, have needs for certain things in life to help them develop physically, emotionally, and mentally. There are many things that children themselves want. In our daily lives a “need” or a “want” may sound very similar, so that differentiation between the two is not always clear. This paper explores the distinction between needs and wants and the different ways and means young people use to achieve these ends in Western society. It also looks at how parents react and deal with their children when the expectations rise and their needs and wants become more expensive. Sixty students, all aged between 16 and 22 years old, filled in questionnaires. They were from four different school sectors, five different cultural backgrounds, and two universities in South Australia. Twenty were later interviewed to document their experiences and stories. Data was analysed qualitatively for factors affecting attitude, lifestyle, core values, culture, and their impact on the behaviour outcomes. The study further examined how these patterns of behaviour reflected on the students’ life skills, achievements, and how they affected family outcomes. Abstract

RESUME: Karakter yang berkualitas perlu dibentuk dan dibina sejak usia dini. Usia dini merupakan masa kritis bagi pembentukan karakter seseorang. Banyak pakar mengatakan bahwa kegagalan penanganan karakter pada seseorang sejak usia dini akan membentuk pribadi yang bermasalah di masa dewasanya kelak. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh satu kenyataan dan permasalahan bahwa pendidikan karakter anak sejak usia dini memiliki pengaruh yang kuat pada anak dalam pengembangan kehidupan di masa depan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kasus pada TK (Taman Kanak-kanak) Khas DT (Daarut Tauhiid) di Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam pada kepala sekolah dan guru PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini) di TK Khas DT tersebut. Triangulasi data dan member cek digunakan sebagai alat analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa implementasi manajemen pendidikan karakter adalah agar anak memiliki karakter yang “BaKu” atau Baik dan Kuat. Karakter baik yaitu karakter anak yang ikhlas, jujur, dan tawadhu. Sedangkan karakter kuat yaitu anak memiliki karakter disiplin, berani, dan tangguh. Implementasi pendidikan karakter anak dilakukan melalui proses kerjasama yang baik antara guru di sekolah dan orang tua di rumah. Dengan demikian, pendidikan karakter akan dapat diwujudkan sesuai dengan tujuan yang telah ditetapkan, apabila guru dan orang tua dapat memainkan perannya masing-masing dengan tepat. Qualified characters need to be established and nurtured from an early age. Early age is a critical period for the formation of ones character. Many experts say that the failure of character handling of a person from an early age will form a problematic person in his/her later adulthood. This research is motivated by the reality and problem that the character education of children from an early age had a strong influence on children in the development of life in the future. This study used a qualitative approach with case studies on TK (Kindergarten) Typical DT (Daarut Tauhiid) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews on the principals and teachers of ECE (Early Childhood Education) in Kindergarten Typical Daarut Tauhiid. Data triangulation and member checks used as an analytical tool. The results showed that the management of implementation of character education is for children to have a good and strong characters. Good character is the character of children who are sincere, honest, and humble and simple. While the strong character that children have a disciplined character, bold, and tough. Implementation of character education of children is done through a process of good cooperation between teachers at school and parents at home. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto was specially launched for the 12th general election (12 GE) to address the concerns of the people and to ensure that the needs of all Malaysians are being seriously looked into. It was clearly indicated from providing scholarships to children from the needy families to strengthening the police force to enhancing the standard of education, as well developing Chinese new villages and providing assistance to small-and-medium-scale industries. The Barisan manifesto has addressed all the concerns of the people. The manifesto is a guarantee of security, peace and prosperity for all the races. The Barisan track record of service and development is there for all to see. The narrative techniques explicitly applied in BN’s manifesto. It permits voters and grassroots to interpret the political and economy agenda championed by the BN (Barisan Nasional) as ruling party. Voters are able to judge for themselves the candidates and BN on how they speak and communicate with their agenda in such a content. The BN’s manifesto took centre stage as in all other mainstream media. Is the manifesto was merely propaganda or was being set to get an attention from publics? Indeed, the presentation of report card of Ninth Malaysian Plan was objectively drawn people’s mind on how government run the business. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The process of globalization is now entering almost all aspects of human life. The process of globalization is due to the acceleration of innovation and its application in science and technology. All phenomena of globalization have had the implications in the field of education, including the education system in Indonesia. In the context of the teaching-learning process, for example, it seems to have been and will being changing, in pertaining with the development of science and information technology, that is emergencing of an e-learning phenomenon (learning through electronic media) and the application of multi-media technology in the learning process. Therefore, education in Indonesia must be ready to welcome the phenomena of globalization with all its challenges and responses. Indeed, the education sector in Indonesia is still a "cinderella" (step child) in the process of nation building. Institute for R & D (Research and Development) is also still being accessories and not yet functioning optimally. It is appropriate if the Indonesia government and society to change the paradigm and to reorient about the critical role of education as a vehicle, not only to educate and advance the nation-state but also to improve the quality of the HR (Human Resources) that are creative and innovative, have a work ethic and high morale, and able to stand up right in order parallel to the other nation-states in the world.KEY WORD: Globalization, science and technology, education, economic development, human resources, creative and innovative, and work ethic. RESUME: “Globalisasi dan Implikasinya bagi Dunia Pendidikan di Indonesia: Antara Tantangan dan Jawaban”. Proses globalisasi saat ini sudah memasuki hampir seluruh aspek kehidupan manusia. Proses globalisasi ini terjadi akibat akselerasi inovasi dan penerapannya di bidang sains dan teknologi. Semua fenomena globalisasi itu berimplikasi dalam bidang pendidikan, termasuk sistem pendidikan di Indonesia. Dalam konteks proses belajar-mengajar, misalnya, nampaknya telah dan akan mengalami perubahan, sekaitan dengan perkembangan sains dan teknologi informasi, yaitu munculnya fenomema e-learning (belajar melalui media elektronik) dan aplikasi teknologi multi media dalam proses belajar. Karenanya, dunia pendidikan di Indonesia harus siap menyambut fenomena globalisasi ini dengan segala tantangan dan jawabannya. Memang, sektor pendidikan di Indonesia masih menjadi “cinderella” (anak tiri) dalam proses pembangunan bangsa. Lembaga LITBANG (Penelitian dan Pengembangan) pula masih bersifat asesoris dan belum berfungsi secara optimal. Sudah selayaknya jika pemerintah dan masyarakat Indonesia mengubah paradigma dan melakukan reorientasi tentang sentralnya peran pendidikan sebagai wahana, selain untuk mencerdaskan dan memajukan bangsa juga untuk meningkatkan kualitas SDM (Sumber Daya Manusia) yang kreatif dan inovatif, punya etos kerja dan semangat juang yang tinggi, serta mampu tegak berdiri, sejajar dengan bangsa-bangsa lain di dunia.KATA KUNCI: Globalisasi, sains dan teknologi, pendidikan, pembangunan ekonomi, sumber daya manusia, kreatif dan inovatif, serta etos kerja.  About the Authors: Dr. M. Abstract

ABSTRAK: Pembicaraan kita ini disulut oleh berakhirnya siklus suatu kalender suku bangsa Maya. Saya yakin, bukan tujuan suku bangsa Maya membuat kalender untuk meramal Hari Kiamat. Tetapi tatanan penanggalan itu adalah sebuah odometer dan juga pal kilometer pencatat kejadian. Berdasarkan tilikan astronomik, nampaknya “Hari Kiamat” itu belum akan terjadi pada tahun 2012. Thesa pendukung terjadinya skenario bencana sudah dapat dikatakan terhapus. Begitu pula kemagnetan Bumi yang, katanya, akan mempunyai polaritas berubah tidak bisa menerangkan katastropi karena perubahan polaritas berlangsung lamban dan menahun, tidak mendadak, atau berubah instan. Peredaran Bumi mengelilingi Matahari akan mempertahankan momen inersianya, karena distribusi massa dalam diri planet Bumi tidak berubah. Begitu pula gaya tarik untuk mendekatkan poros putar Bumi ke arah poros edarnya (yakni kutub ekliptika) akan selalu ditandingi oleh inersia yang ditimbulkan oleh vektor kecepatan putar pada porosnya dan vektor kecepatan edar Bumi mengelilingi Matahari. Kepanggahan ini adalah konsekuensi hukum kekekalan inersia dan momen dari Ilmu Mekanika benda langit yang tidak rapuh oleh perjalanan singkat dalam ruang-waktu. Jadi, sebaiknya kita sisihkan konotasi “kiamat” itu dan mari kita mengisi kalender dengan agenda kerja yang dapat membantu menyelamatkan Bumi serta umat manusianya. Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to examine the role of social comparison in predicting two dimensions of a moral emotion, i.e. shame, among employees working in the private companies in the Greatcity of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The participants were 203 employees (99 males, 104 females, age average 28.75 years old, and standard deviation of the age 5.917 years), taken using purposive sampling technique. The measurement scales of this study were adapted and developed from Social Comparison Scale and Shame Proneness Scale. As many as 60 individuals participated in the measurement instrument’s validity and reliability testing phase. Research design of this study is predictive correlational with simple linear regression as the statistical technique of data analysis. This study found that social comparison can predict Negative Self-Evaluation and Withdrawal Action Tendency, as the dimensions of shame, in negative ways. There are at least two theoretical contributions of this research to the literature of psychology of corruption. First, self-evaluation as a result of the general social comparison, which initially has no moral weight, can have serious implications on one’s morality, especially through the negative self-evaluation dimension of shame moral emotion. Second, this study provides scientific support to the everyday wisdom suggesting that we should not compare ourselves with others so as not to fall into immorality tendencies, including corruption.KEY WORD: Emotion, moral, shame, comparison, social, employees working, Jakarta city, self-evaluation, predict, and psychology of corruption. RESUME: “Perbandingan Sosial sebagai Prediktor Dimensi-dimensi Kecenderungan Rasa Malu”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran perbandingan sosial dalam memprediksikan dua dimensi dari sebuah emosi moral, yakni rasa malu, pada pegawai swasta di DKI (Daerah Khusus Ibukota) Jakarta, ibukota Indonesia. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 203 orang karyawan swasta (99 laki-laki, 104 perempuan, rata-rata usia 28.75 tahun, dan simpangan baku usia 5.917 tahun), diambil dengan teknik penyampelan purposif. Alat ukur penelitian ini diadaptasi dan dikembangkan dari Skala Perbandingan Sosial dan Skala Kerentanan/Kecenderungan Rasa Malu. Sebanyak 60 individu berpartisipasi dalam fase uji validitas dan reliabilitas alat ukur. Desain penelitian ini adalah korelasional prediktif dengan teknik analisis data berupa regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perbandingan sosial mampu memprediksi Evaluasi Diri Negatif dan Tendensi Mengundurkan/Menarik Diri, sebagai dimensi-dimensi rasa malu, dalam arah negatif. Terdapat sedikitnya dua kontribusi teoritis dari penelitian ini terhadap literatur psikologi korupsi. Pertama, penilaian diri sebagai hasil perbandingan seseorang dengan orang lain, yang aslinya tidak memiliki bobot moral, dapat memiliki implikasi serius terhadap moralitas seseorang, khususnya pada dimensi evaluasi diri negatif dari rasa malu.
