Abstract

Research about Skinfold Caliper (SKF) and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) has been frequently studied in athletes. Accurate of SKF is dependent on the technique, skill, and experience of the tester, whereas BIA is less time consuming and easily administered by investigators. The study aimed was to analyze the mean difference of body fat composition (BF%) between SKF and BIA methods among bodybuilders, heavy lifter, and weight lifter athletes. This was an observational analytic research with a cross-sectional design. The data were obtained from direct measurements to 30 athletes (21 men and 9 women). The percentage of body fat data were obtained by SKF and BIA and also anthropometric data (weight and height). The mean of BF percentages was analyzed by multiple paired t-test. The study showed a significant difference in BF% between SKF and BIA methods according to gender, sport, and Body Mass Index (BMI) categories (p<0,05). The mean BF % by skinfold caliper was 18,91 and by BIA was 24,27. Body fat percentage by SKF methods in bodybuilder, heavy lifter, weight lifter, man, woman, normal, overweight, moderates and severe obese were  12,05; 21,77; 17,67;17,31; 22,67;11,75; 17,83; 23,05; and 34,99. In other, by BIA were 15,34; 28,58; 21,59; 21,99; 29,60; 16,47; 23,69; 29,32; 36,00. It concluded that the mean difference in Body Fat (BF) % between SKF and BIA methods according to gender, kind of sport, and BMI categories was significant (p<0,05), except in severely obese.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhoea is menstrual pain that forces women to rest or results in decreased performance and reduced daily activities. On average, more than 50% of women experience dysmenorrhoea in each country. One of the non-for pharmacological treatments dysmenorrhoea is using carrot juice. The purpose of this study was to decrease dysmenorrhoea pain level by giving carrot juice to young women. The research design used a quasy experiment method with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 people by giving carrot juice with purposive sampling technique. Data collection using primary data, the instrument used was the observation sheet of the pain scale dysmenorrhoea before and after being given carrot juice. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of statistical tests with Wilcoxon before and after being given carrot juice showed that the value of ρ value was 0.001 <0.05, which means that there was a decrease of dysmenorrhoea pain level by giving carrot juice to young women , so it can be said that H0 is rejected. The conclusion is that there is a decrease of dysmenorrhoea pain level by giving carrot juice to young women. It is recommended that respondents consume carrot juice so that it can reduce the pain they feel during dysmenorrhoea.

Abstract

Stunting is an indicator of nutritional status problems. Some of the risk factors that cause stunting are very complex. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic and sex with stunting in children under five. This research was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Quantitative data were obtained from secondary data from the Nutrition Status Monitoring (PSG) Sangiangtanjung 2019. The sample was 507 children under five of age in Sangiangtanjung Village who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The variables analyzed included stunting, socio-economic, and sex was analyzed using the Fisher exact test and chi-square. Qualitative data were obtained from in-depth interviews with a village official and a village midwife. The results showed that the prevalence of stunting in Sangiangtanjung Village was 2.8%. All variables showed no relationship with stunting, consist of: socioeconomic (p-value = 0.845) and gender (p-value = 0.604). The results of interviews obtained in-depth information about the risk factors for stunting, the low socio-economic level of the community, the reluctance of pregnant women to antenatal care in the first trimester, and the belief in some stigma regarding restrictions on the consumption of certain foods that are good for health. All of these factors were included in the fundamental factors. There was a need for handling efforts at the downstream level by increasing the knowledge of pregnant women about risk factors for stunting and their prevention through pregnant women classes.

Abstract

Breast milk (ASI) is the best food for babies whose nutrition is complex, and contains nutrients according to the baby's needs for growth, immunity, preventing various diseases and for the baby's intelligence. However, many mothers have problems with difficulty in getting milk out. This makes the baby not get enough milk and the mother makes the decision to give formula milk. Some mothers are afraid to breastfeed, resulting in breast milk damages because it can reduce the baby's suction at the breast causing the amount of milk to be small and not sufficient for the baby's needs. The purpose of this study was to compare the production of breast milk between the intervention group (posttest) consuming Kepok banana blossom vegetables and the control group (posttest) not to consume Kepok banana blossom vegetables in breastfeeding mothers in Candirejo Village, Biru - Biru District, Deli Serdang Regency. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental design with a two group pretest - posttest design. The sample in this study were all breastfeeding mothers in May-July totaling 20 respondents divided into 10 respondents in the intervention group and 10 respondents in the control group. Data collection were used the observation sheet. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and then to see the comparison using the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the mean ranks of the control was 5.65 with a sum of ranks of 56.50 increased in the intervention group with a mean ranks of 15.35 and a sum of ranks of 153.50 with a P-value of (0.000 <α 0, 05) then Ho is rejected, Ha is accepted. The conclusion showed that there is an effect of banana blossom consumption on increasing milk production in breastfeeding mothers in Candirejo Village, Deli Serdang Regency.
