Sepsis is still an important health problem in the world today. The incidence of sepsis can reach 750,000 cases per year. When mothers have a vital role in family health, their lack of knowledge and concern about sepsis remains an obstacle. Therefore, we need a program to promote and prevent sepsis among mothers in West Medan District as an effort to reduce the number of sepsis in Indonesia. Coaching, training, and counseling are given to PKK mothers and Posyandu cadres regarding the prevention of severe infections that can cause sepsis. This activity began by collecting basic data using the Sepsis Knowledge Scale questionnaire and then provided counseling and training on sepsis. Then, the final results were assessed with a behavioral questionnaire and sepsis knowledge questionnaire. The activity was attended by 29 people, 20 women (72.4%) and 9 men (27.6%). No significant changes were found in the level of knowledge and behavior before and after the activity (Z-score: 0.001; p = 1,000).

Speaking is the basic as well as the most important skill that needs to be acquired by English language learners. It is advisable that learning speaking English should begin as early as possible; however, to teach speaking skill to young learners is not an easy task since their age is the age of playing. Teaching speaking to young learners requires a teacher to find the technique best work with children, one of which is through games. One of the games that is corresponding to the age of young learners is a snake and ladder game. This paper aims at describing how a snake and ladder game is used in teaching speaking to young learners. Based on the discussion on applying a snake and ladder game, it is concluded that this game is the right game to apply in teaching speaking to young learners. People during early ages like playing and dislikes studying, especially in a formal education. By using this game, the children (learners) do not realize that they learn to speak English because they enjoy playing the game. In addition, this game supports the issue of student-centered learning because the students are the ones who actively practice speaking, while the teacher acts as the learning facilitator who provides assistance if needed.

Narigunung 1 village is one of the villages located in Tiganderket District, Karo Regency, and North Sumatra Province. The community in this village consists of 150 heads of households whereby 90% earn a living by farming. The community manages various kinds of horticulture plants, especially vegetables and fruits, i.e. corn. The Geographic Village, which is located near to (Â± 8 km) the bottom of Sinabung mount, causes people often get crop failures, since the hot wind released from the Sinabung mount. Especially at the dry season, since the village is far from the source of water, therefore only relies on rain drops both for daily needs and for their agricultural lands. Failure of this harvest can reduce the economic welfare level of the community in the village. This community service activity was carried out, with the aim to stimulate the farmers and the community in Narigunung 1 village to make cracker businesses as a means of improving community welfare. The activity was carried out in the form of lectures, discussions, practice of making crackers from corn cobs, dissemination of food additives that were good for health, and the distribution of modules. After this service activity, the community in Narigunung 1 has been able to make crackers by utilizing corn cob which increases the economic value of the corn cob, using a grinding machine as a transfer knowledge of science and technology in the community and gain comprehensive knowledge about additional ingredients that are good for health.

Usaha kecil atau lebih dikenal dengan UMKM saat ini perlu dikembangkan dan dipertahankan, mengingat manfaat yang diperoleh. Usaha kecil dikembangkan dengan harapan dapat meningkatkan penyerapan tenaga kerja dan meningkatkan pendapatan untuk kemudian dialokasikan pada pengeluaran rumah tangga. Pembinaan dan pengembangan usaha kecil yang baik akan memperbesar sumbangannya bagi perekonomian nasional pada umumnya dan memberikan sumbangan bagi daerah dimana usaha kecil itu tumbuh dan berkembang. Bisnis makanan ringan merupakan bisnis berskala rumah tangga yang memiliki peluang sangat bagus untuk saat ini maupun yang akan datang. Permintaan pasar untuk makanan ringan terus mengalir. Melihat penikmat makanan ringan, tidak hanya anak-anak, tetapi juga remaja, dewasa, hingga orang tua. Maka tidak mengherankan jika pelaku bisnis makanan yang sering disajikan sebagai selingan saat melakukan kegiatan ini sering kali kebanjiran pelanggan. Membuat peluang bisnis makanan ringan ini menjadi semakin terbuka lebar.Rendahnya kapasitas produksi yang dimiliki membuat usaha ini kurang berkembang. Disamping itu peralatan yang digunakan juga sederhana dan masih bersifat tradisional, sehingga memakan waktu yang cukup lama dan sangat menguras tenaga. Untuk itulah diperlukan sentuhan iptek yang akan membuat proses produksinya menjadi lebih mudah dan murah. Sehubungan dengan hal tersebut, maka dirasa perlu diberikan pendampingan dan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas mitra pengabdian. Diharapkan setelah pendampingan, para mitra menjadi lebih meningkat pengetahuannya, mampu mengaplikasikan pengetahuan tersebut dalam pekerjaan sehari-harinya dan menularkan pengetahuan tersebut kepada pengusaha yang lain.

Diharapkan setelah pendampingan, para mitra menjadi lebih meningkat pengetahuannya, mampu mengaplikasikan pengetahuan tersebut dalam pekerjaan sehari-harinya dan menularkan pengetahuan tersebut kepada pengusaha yang lain.

Potensi usaha desa sangat jarang dimanfaatkan secara maksimal untuk kemakmuran dan kemajuan ekonomi dari masyarakat desa. Umumnya potensi tersebut dimanfaatkan oleh perusahaan besar yang mempekerjakan masyarakat setempat. Langkah ini belum efektif dalam mendorong ekonomi masyarakat desa. Secara keahlian, masyarakat setempat sudah memiliki kemampuan yang diperlukan untuk mengembangkan secara mandiri potensi desa yang ada. Kegiatan pengabdian membuat dua kelompok kecil yang menjalankan usaha ternak berkelanjutan dan hingga saat ini berkembang menjadi tiga kelompok. Tim pengabdian telah memberikan bantuan induk ternak dan kandang untuk masing-masing kelompok mitra. Tim pengabdian akan membagikan ilmu seputar bagaimana melakukan usaha yang berkelanjutan, menciptakan komitmen dalam kelompok, semangat berwirausaha dan saling membantu masyarakat, serta bagaimana menentukan harga jual yang sesuai untuk ternak kelompok serta memberikan buku seputar budidaya ternak. Selanjutnya tim pengabdian akan melakukan monitoring dan evaluasi secara berkala sekaligus memberikan pendampingan dalam prakteknya. Diharapkan kegiatan ini akan semakin membantu masyarakat memperoleh modal yang diperlukan dalam beternak secara mandiri untuk membantu ekonominya sekaligus semangat dalam warga lain yang memerlukan transfer pengetahuan.
